At Last - Barry Back In England Fold

It has just been announced that Aston Villa midfielder Gareth Barry has at last returned to the England fold.

The Villa captain, who had been out in the cold thanks to Sven, has been named in the England squad for next week's friendly international against Spain.

Barry will be looking to earn his 9th England cap.

Good news, what is it with Villa these days, what has happened to all the doom, gloom and anger?

Oh, and well done Steve McClaren.

Really pleased for Gazza Bazza, but I still think Mclaren is an incompetant prat! I bet he doesnt even get a kick.

Coming after Macarrone's withering comments it's the only decent thing McCaren could have done. Even better if Captain Marvel celebrates with a goal tomorrow.

Lets just hope he gets a fair crack of the whip now, still cynical about that though as Downing is in the squad too and we all know he's 'teacher's pet'

never mind the "well done Steve McClaren", Barry has given him no option but to pick him. I cant stand bloody McClaren - I dont believe Maccarone was misquoted for one minute when he said he was a two faced idiot with no balls - he is

Superb news - MON championed a call-up from day one - Gaz's performances have lived up to that - good on ya Gareth - fully deserved! Chaps - this is just the beginning - Gabby, Ashley, Luke, Cahill, Ridge and Isaiah will soon follow suit!

Well done GB! but i dont think he will not get a game all the time that Managers boy Downing is in the squad he will get a game before Gareth.

Hopefully Ridgewell won't play for England. I believe he should have been sold to Blues as he isn't good enough for us

Maybe a shot at LB if downing is preferred at LM? Congrats GB! Well deserved and long overdue. Have it!!

Great news, and a good time to make my first post. Congratulations GB, more than deserved. In some ways a little worried this is for show only though, I don´t have any faith in McClaren.

How the hell did Jenas get in ahead of Nolan? McClaren is in a world of his own. Downing has been performing well recently, Barry all season. Go for consistancy. Play Barry from the start - please!

Congratulations GB! If I were him I'd have told McClaren: "Thanks, but no thanks. I'll wait till we have real England manager"! (Well, maybe not .. I'm sure if McClaren had called me this week ..) :-(

GB has been majestic for the last 18 months. Cornet Head reminds me of Duncan "two chins" Fletcher, picks his trusted allies.

Barry is already a Villa legend. He will break our appearance record in years to come. He is one of the most talented players ever to don the claret and blue.

Well done Gareth - and not before time! Lets hope this is not a case of McClaren bowing to media pressure. Give hime at least a run out Steve and let him prove you were (eventually) right to pick him.

Captain Marvel, Villa legend in the making, should already be an England regular, better late than never, hope he gets to kick a ball. Don't rate downing, McClaren is still an arse.
