Ozzy a Doubt for Bolton

With Nigel Reo-Coker suspended, there’s a doubt over one of his possible replacements as Isaiah Osbourne may sit out Sunday’s trip to the Reebok through injury.

Osbourne picked up a groin injury as he fell awkwardly during the reserves 6-0 spanking of Chelsea, and now the weekend may come too soon, limiting Martin O’Neill’s options even further. Small squad, honest lads, are we still sugarbags for complaining about the lack of backup?

O’Neill told avfc.co.uk: “He got injured on Monday night, but hopefully he'll be OK - it was one of those where he was stretching for the ball and fell awkwardly.

“The doctor assessed him on Monday night and it's around about the same area as his previous groin problem. But we're hoping it's not too serious.”

There are currently no reports of injury to Stiliyan Petrov, sadly.

Get the new Zidane out there in at the deep end. We will then see what he is made of. Barry can hold, thats what he's been doing for England.

WTF is with the adverts on this page. This is supposed to be a football site FFS. Sort it out!!!!

What if Salifou has a nightmare against Bolton? He'll never play again if he does!! Id like to see him play soon though, i just reckon Sunday is a bit too soon.........We still have options in the middle. Gardner/Barry, Berger/Barry or Petrov/Barry. Petrov has a point to prove. MON should start him against Bolton as theyve been pretty poor lately.

I just cannot see anything in Ozzy other than he is a local lad. He looks so labored; long slow strides no sign of any spark or enthusiasm of youth when he gets his chance. Normally a kid is up for everything, but he is so laid back, if he had the deft touch & reading of the game to intercept go with it I would not be bothered. But I cannot see anything of note other than he models himself on some gooner.

Son of cher What like Petrov We gave him a season plus to show something but he is all talk. If he has a bad game we will give him a fair chance I now MON will he stans buy his purchases sometimes to the detrement of the team. Why did we let Ridgwell & Steve go only to be replaced by the same level of player at best.
FatKev
Give Petrov another go. The guy is class but we haven't seen it hopefully being dropped and getting this chance should spur him on to play well. ......Well hopefully but im not confident.

In Petrov's first few games he was quality for us. He's been out the team for the first time for a while now and knows he's not automatic first choice. He needs to perform any time he plays from now on. He should take a leaf out of Elano's book from City.

Let Petrov have ago, time to prove himself.
young_jonah
Young Jonah you know that aint going to happen.

Disagree with you FatKev. Both Osbourne and Petrov have bright Villa Park futures.
