Salifou Ready for Villa Challenge

The ‘Togolese Zidane’ spoke to Villa World today of his excitement at joining Aston Villa, following an impressive reserve team outing.

Salifou was a late (very late!) transfer deadline day signing, one that prompted more bewilderment amongst the Villa faithful than that of former West Ham striker Marlon Harewood. Following a little publicised wrangle with regards to the Togo International’s work permit, he finally pulled on the claret and blue shirt for Monday evening’s 6-0 thumping of Chelsea reserves.

The next stage for the man like Zidane is to attempt to break into Martin O’Neill’s’ first team squad, to add a little bit of strength and quality into what is already an exciting, fast paced side. Salifou himself admits that this won’t be a simple task: I cannot say whether I will be ready for the first team this month or next month.” He told Villa World.

“The important thing for me is that I'm going to work as hard as I can to get into the first team as quickly as possible.

“For me this is like stepping into another world. I'm very excited about joining such a big club and I will be even more excited when I get into the first team.”

Judging by the highlights that are available on Villa World, Salifou does indeed lack a bit of pace, but has a good eye for a pass. Jury is still out on whether he really can be likened to “Zinadine the Head-butter,” but it should be fun finding out if it’s true!

He seems a confident enough sort of guy. Realises he's been offered a great opportunity, and is determined to grab the chance with both hands. Good luck to him.

Does anyone think he'll get a chance on the Bench this Sunday? or is it too early for him.

If he is like Zidane then I reckon he mighr be quite handy.

I cannot say whether I will be ready for the first team this month or next month............... but will be ready for Bolton if Villa are pressed then he may get his chance before he thinks he is ready. MON is in a dilemma if he plays him and he struggles he will get slaughtered by the supporters. Bolton is a must win game if Villa want European Football.
