Worst Villa Player Results
Vital Villa user ‘Aspinall’ wanted to know who you thought was the worst player ever to pull on the famous claret and blue (and no, not West Ham.) As usual you have delivered some surprising results.
25% of the votes went to Serbian midfielder Sasa Curcic who featured in just 29 games for Villa. Allegedly when announcing his retirement Curcic was quoted stating: 'I would not sign for another club, not even if I was offered 15 million dollars. However, it would be different if they were to instead offer me 15 different women from all around the world. I would tell the club chairman: 'Please let me make these women happy - I will satisfy them like they have never been satisfied before'.'
It is not known what he is up to these days.
Coming in 2nd place with 22% of the vote is the very unfortunate Peter Enckelman. Encks was obviously famous for conceding ‘that goal’ at St.Andrews but I had figured most Villa fans would be able to forgive and forget, considering his replacement, in the form of Danish International Thomas Sorensen managed to make a similarly huge cock up the following season.
Joint 3rd goes to Gary Penrice and current Villa squad member Stiliyan Petrov who both pulled in 11% of the total votes. Whilst the Villa faithful think little of Penrice, Ian Holloway must see something in him, as the former QPR boss has employed him as Plymouth’s Chief Scout.
Petrov on the other hand, is yet to convince anyone that he was worth what the club paid for him, which is looking increasingly over the top.

I agree with Stig. Stupid idea to include Petrov. Must be predominantly youngsters who voted or else that **** Steve Hodge would have surely won. His attitude was a disgrace to the Villa shirt and heritage.

Sasa Curcic was poor for us but he had loads of ability. He had two great games against Leeds, he absolutely murdered them and after that he was *****. And he had a massive nose.

No, much better for us all to sit quietly and not pass opinions on players who are paid an absolute fortune and contribute nothing? Do you really think any of the 'mugs' would not like Petrov to score the winner as well? I agree booing the players is wrong wrong wrong but not to talk about or pass opinions on them is totally out of order as well, that is what football is all about, you telling me you don't read the papers either because they pass comments? What is this world coming to!?

Well said FEAR, I FOR ONE DIDN'T VOTE FOR PETROV, BUT FOOTBALL IS A GAME OF OPINIONS. (Oooops cap lock pressed by mistake) I voted for Steve Hodge, mainly for the fact he was that ***** i'd forgotten he'd played for us! Enckelman is a bit unfortunate, i forgive him. I think a fair result would be they were all ***** for us and one of them is still ***** for us (In my opinion) :-)

how does it help petrov to see things like that though? it doesnt. i am all for opinions and sharing them but there are far worse players out there that have graced our pitch. get off the guys back.

We've had some dilly's over the years thats for sure, but none have really stuck out in my mind as head and shoulders above anyone else as the worst player to ever pull on the claret and blue. Charlie Young perhaps, Bernie Gallagher maybe, Freddie Turnbull even?

Everyone seems to have forgotten Ivo Stas. Do they have to have at least stepped on to the pitch once to count? In which case I don't think he does?!

I rest my case.... there i no difference between booing a player before a game or during it. IMHO. I Petrov was to read was was beeing said of him do you think he would say thats okay because they are not booing me? Do you think it would improve his confidence. Now I don't care either way but lets not be two faced about it.

well said myleftfoot, its totally counter productive to name Petrov in this poll. Just because you have the right to an opinion does'nt make it right to voice it. How do you think it will improve Petrov's form. Its kinda like the American constitution the right to bare arms, then the world is shocked when a school kids shoots all his mates.

I'll put my left bollock on the line and say Petrov has never been on this site. If i was a footballer on loads of money i wouldn't be sitting in front of my computer all day, not like us sad ********s. Negativity doesn't help a players confidence but FFS stop moaning about what people put on this site incase Petrov or somebody else reads it. If he does.......
