Maloney Set For Scotland Start

Aston Villa forward Shaun Maloney will be given a starting role in Scotland’s Euro 2008 qualifier against Georgia this evening.

Maloney, who has struggled to break into the starting line-up at Villa Park and has only started 2 international matches out of his 8 caps so far, will come in for the injured Scott Brown in Scotland’s crucial qualification match.

As Claus Toppmoller, Georgia’s head coach looks to throw in 17 year old goalkeeper Georgi Makaridze for his first cap, Maloney’s knack for dispatching excellent free kicks will no doubt become a big asset, as Alex McLeish looks to avoid an upset that would threaten the nation’s chances of qualification.

Ninety minutes of much needed action for the Scots, then hopefully he might just get the nod from MON to start for us on Saturday against Manchester United. I think he's been somewhat unlucky not to get more playing time for us so far this season.

Your right glensider - I think he offers something more creative. Whether he is played upfront or in the midfield.

Celtic fans generally are just a bunch of bigoted imbeciles who aren't worth worrying about!

Thanks Yuen_Biao. Actually, we'd already worked that out following the arrivals of MON and Stan Petrov. They dont like being our feeder club I guess.
