Moustapha A Prem Star

Arsenal's man of the moment, striker Emmanuel Adebayor, is tipping our very own Moustapha Salifou to make a massive impact at Villa as he looks set to get his work permit situation sorted this week.

Salifou is apparently referred to as the 'Togolese Zidane' in Togo and his international team mate who is setting the world alight for the gunners this season said:

'He's a very good player with a lot of quality I can see the Zidane comparison because he can keep the ball, he can dribble, he can do anything he wants with the ball. He's not that fast but he's an amazing footballer. When I heard he'd signed for Aston Villa I was very happy for him and I hope he'll play soon and show the English public what good players Africa, and Togo particularly, can produce. I can't wait to see him playing in England and I don't think it'll be long he should be around the team soon and I wish him all the best.'

Sounds ok to me! If this move works out it will be a stroke of genius from Martin O'Neill, if it falters it won't have cost us anything so a win win!

By the time he signs he be shipped off for the African nations. If he scores 1 goal and headbutts a blues player it will be worth every penny.

Togo didn't qualify so he won't be going anywhere..

The way that Adebayor is playing at the moment, for him to be recommending Salifou is certainly promising.

if he is anything like adebayor i will be a happy man. he represents something different for us and there is a slight rags to riches story with this bloke - i wish him all the best.

Fingers crossed, looks like MON might just have picked up a very useful acquisition with the signing of Moustapha.

I've heard he'll be the next Des Bremmner, who resembled Zidane in the fact that he had to legs!!!

The usual pattern when Villa sign somebody - especially an 'unknown' - is for everybody to pick up on comments in the press, good or bad, and to follow them out of the window. If press comments are not so good, we condemn both player and club before a ball is kicked. On the other hand, and probably worse, if comments are good, we hype the player up to an unachievable level and then pick him to bits when he fails to achieve superman status. Can we all give this guy an opportunity to get into training with our club, and to see what happens on the pitch without taking too much notice of the gutter press?

No pressure. If he's a half decent squad player I'll be happy. If he turns out to be a masterstroke by MON's then it's a bonus.

Wonder if Emmanuel Adebayor would consider moving to Villa Park to join his buddy? It would be worth asking.
