Get Your Villa Scarves Out!

Get Your Villa Scarves Out!

At the final home game of the season last year much was made of the 40000+ free scarves that were handed out. I'm sure most of you will remember the amazing atmosphere that they helped to create. That along with the European Cup and the '82 winning team being paraded around Villa Park before kick off.

During the match the scarves were held aloft and swung above peoples heads on a regular basis and truly helped to create one of the best atmospheres seen at Villa Park for many a year.

Now I've always been slightly jealous of the Kop at Anfield and the way the scousers hold their scarves aloft when they sing YNWA. So when I witnessed the scenes against Sheff Utd last year I (probably foolishly) thought that this could be the future of Villa Park.

You can imagine my disappointment when attending home matches this season to see no sign of said scarves. Yes a few people have them around their necks. That, for me, is not good enough. I personally hold mine above my head when the Holte End sings 'By far the greatest team the world has ever seen'. It would also work well while we sing 'Yipee Aye Ay....Yipee Aye Oh!!' Imagine how impressive the Holte would look if everyone held their scarves aloft when we sing these songs. Also swinging them above our heads when we score looks great and adds to the kind of atmosphere we want at Fortress Villa Park.

So I'd like to start a campaign here and now to encourage the use of scarves in this manner. It's not difficult, costs £0.00 (unless you don't have a scarf) and genuinely adds to the atmosphere within Villa Park.

Must admit it would be a great sight to behold if we did the same at every game. Maybe they should have big baskets full of scarves to use during the game and then put them back in there ready for next time, then people have no excuse for not having a scarf to wave on match days!?

I personally think we should find an anthem to use at every home game, which coupled with the scarves would make VP truly intimidating. Maybe then we could ditch the,"my old man....."etc. which don't do us any favours.

It's been too warm to take mine to the home games this season and i can't be arsed to carry it around with me. but against Manu i'll probably take it........ unless its baking hot

Petrov Debait, can you all not see what is happening? He is bluffing, he is awesome but is waiting to unleash his amazing goalscoring prowess on the premiership....he will get on against MAN U and score the winner. Then start the next game and score again - the last thing SAF was predicting!

As an anthem, I do think "Swing Low Sweet Chariot" isn't a bad idea - especially now we've got half the England team playing down at Villa Park.....

Isn't that the rugby theme and 'handball' Ridgewell has left.

Totally agree! We should have a better atmosphere than the 'Kop' because the Holte is much much bigger! I've had my scalf every game this season but also been surprised with the lack of other fans with the same idea!

I will bring out a scarf from Bayern Munich which my dad swapped with a Bayern Fan on that fateful night...well forced to swap.

How can you vote Sasa Curcic? He was not that reference to Penrice & Enckelman - what were Blackburn doing taking Enckelman?
