Laursen Hoping To Extend Villa Stay

Laursen Hoping To Extend Villa Stay

Usually when a players agent talks it means only one thing. Trouble. Fortunately when it comes to man-mountain Martin Laursen, all is well!

Laursen is out of contract at the end of the season but his agent, Federico Pastorello, says there is no problem and confirms the player is happy with the support he has received during his injury plagued time at Villa Park.

Pastorello told Sky Sports:

'Yes he is going to be out-of-contract next summer, and he wishes to renew. He wants to stay at Villa, that is his wish and at the moment he is only thinking about extending.'

'There is nothing to worry about, Martin knows how Villa have done well by him. They totally have the priority on him and that is what Martin wants. Obviously he wants to sort out his future for his own security, but I would expect to speak with somebody from Villa before the end of the year. But obviously Villa need to make sure Martin is back on track and that is just what he is doing - there is no concern, he knows he has to be patient.'

Laursen has recently spoken of his form and said that he is playing his best football since his time at AC Milan and I must admit, the way he heads things, I'm not about to start arguing with him!

Laursen said: 'I feel as though this is the best spell of my Villa career and possibly the best I've been playing since I was at AC Milan. Although there have been games at Villa when I feel I have played well, I have never been fit for long enough to put a decent run of games together. Now I hope I can do that. It would be good to get maybe 10 games in a row, then build on that just to show I can stay in the side consistently.' Full article: Villa Have Best Defender In League?

Sign him up the guys got great experience which you need as you have some young players. Also you need the strength in depth if you qualify for europe.

The guy is absolute class, sign him up now. Who better for Cahill and Davies to learn from?

I just love how he is a model professional, he comes through things to fight to make us know he is worth the cash we spent on him, now in a time when players would walk off and take a big pay day he wants to stay and gives us not only first option BUT the chance to check his fitness over time first, top lad and proud to have his name on the back of my shirt!

Arguably one of the best central defenders in the premiership right now. Quality. He is definately one who you would want alongside you in the trenches when the going gets rough!!

We seem to be very slow in instigating new contract talks with not only Martin Laursen, but also Luke,Olof, and Freddie Bouma. Cant understand why we're dragging our feet.

give the guy a new deal. He is the best defender i have seen down B6 for a long time. Better than Southgate, Ugo, Melly and Alpay by a country mile!
