Well, diggy dog, would you believe it! Stan Collymore has told Steve McClaren he should play all three Villa boys in next Saturday's game against Estonia. Stan The Man said in an article in The Mirror,
'Steve McClaren has the chance to keep the feelgood factor started by England's rugby heroes going when he picks his team for Estonia. If fit, the likes of Michael Owen should play. But I am really referring to the guys like Gareth Barry who impressed against Israel and Russia and should keep their places on Saturday. For good measure, I would throw in Ashley Young and Scott Carson. Young has been in great form for Aston Villa this season - not least his contribution to Saturday's victory over West Ham.'
Couldn't agree more Stanley Victor, very nicely put if I may say so! Especially on Scott Carson. It seems obvious that Spurs keeper Paul Robinson is suffering a crisis having eaten way too many pies down at White Hart Lane, so why allow him to be automatic choice?
On Ashley Young the former Liverpool and Villa striker, who lets face it should have been an England legend with the talent and ability he had, said:
'Lots of people would love to see him electrify Wembley. Fast and fearless, he is the kind of winger who gets you on the edge of your seat when he has the ball. He is willing to commit defenders and put in a good delivery. I would play Ashley on the left, Joe Cole on the right and Steven Gerrard in the middle again, alongside Barry. Including Young would send out a message to the players on the England fringes that they will be rewarded if they prove they can step up to the plate.'
He also asks: 'if Young and Carson are not good enough to play against Estonia then when are they good enough?' finishing, 'McClaren would be an absolute fool not to go with the men in form because if there was anything learned from the last two Euro 2008 qualifiers it is that England need the best team out there, not necessarily the best players. Going with Young and Carson will give us more depth.'
Of-course, us Villa fans are biased, be interesting to hear what fans of other teams on Vital think though?
