Harewood Gunning For West Ham

Marlon Harewood is gunning for a start against his former team West Ham.

The official site article says Marlon is Hungry. I blinking bet he is, you seen the size of the lad? I'd hate his food bill!??!

Harewood, a shock summer arrival to Villa Park, said:

'I'm not trying to prove anyone right or wrong, apart from myself. I had a great season a couple of years ago and I want to carry on from there, and enjoy my football. It's about confidence and everything really. It's about the team and not really the individual. West Ham were fantastic that year- that's why I got my goals because everyone was pulling their weight and doing what they had to do. I think the players here have got ability- that's why I decided to move to Villa. Just from the atmosphere around here, I know I can get my goals.

He also says he is settled at Villa Park calling it his 'homeplace', a feeling he says Martin O'Neill fosters in his players.

He continues on O'Neill saying it was his reputation that made him want to come to Villa saying he is an excellent man manager 'Martin was very complimentary about me when I signed and it was great to hear him talk about me that way. It was a great feeling and sometimes players do need that. I have got to take note of that and pay him back for those friendly words out on the pitch. That is going to be the challenge for me.'

I guess he might have a point to prove against his ex club, worth a try maybe?

As a West Ham fan, I feel getting £4 million for the useless lump was a steal. If that was a steal though, £8.5 million for Joker was daylight robbery.

Just thought i'd give you my opinion, don't bite my head off.

Hope we can ram those words back down your throat come Saturday evening Bigmack187, but whatever way the result goes, good luck to you and your lot for the rest of the campaign. I dont know whether I'd start MH at the weekend. Under normal circumstances I would say no, but these aint quite normal circumstances, what with Big JC out, and Luke just not firing (Thank God for Gabby, eh?). Is the reason that he would be up against his old crew sufficient enough reason to throw Harewood into the action from the off though, on the off-chance he might just come good? I'm not so sure it is. I'll leave the decision making to Martin, then I can always blame him if it all turns out wrong. Three points to us, whatever line up MON goes with.

haha West Hams talking about stealing? how about stealing a premiership place from Sheffield United?

Possibly our longest highlights ever on MOTD
Pking
Do you think we'll be on first on MOTD? doubt it, they will find some obscure game to show instead... tossers, i'll watch football first instead (If we win) the missus always says why when youve been to the game do you have to watch the highlights? what do women know! anyway, Harewood to start? noooooooooo fooooooooookin way. (if he does i hope he proves me and most of us on here wrong) but i doubt it. UTV 2-0 to us

id rather have a bowl of coker pops

I think he has something to prove to the Villa fans and manager, not just himself and his ex club.
Hoss The Villain
Trouble with players who have something to prove is often they have something to prove to the wrong people, he has nothing to prove to West Ham but dare I say loads to prove to the Villa Supporters and the club manager who has shown faith in him by bringing him to the club.

As for your comments about match of the day, our game will fill a 3 miniute period at the end after Man U game gets a hours showing and 27 miniutes of Carlos Queroz talking.
Bigmack187
Marlene unpopular already?
Adam Mansell
Where do you see that Adam??
Hoss The Villain
I can arguably see the sense of signing Marlon as a back up and a key squad member, its the actual fee that we paid that I have trouble getting my head around.
