Pompey Fans Worried At Mendes Link

Vital Pompey have picked up on The Sun's story today claiming that Villa could be after Pedro Mendes for £3million. Bit early for transfer window gossip isn't it, even for The Sun?? Villa in for Pedro Mendes?

Pompey Rug, in his article, says he is worried there could be some truth in the rumour as we were also linked to him in the summer.

Adding, 'Mendes has found it tough to get into the side this season, with Harry Redknapp more often than not taking the 'pace and power' route, something that he really believes is essential to push us on, so this could cost arguably our most creative influence in midfield his place at the club?'

The Pompey editor also says he would be 'completely devastated' if Mendes was allowed to leave. Must admit, I'd love to see him at Villa, he has vision and skill and could be a major asset for us.

krfeskivilla added in their article comments: 'As a Villa fan I like the sound of signing Mendes. He has different qualities to our other midfielders. See him perhaps taking over the role of Patrik Berger in the squad who will be in his last season with us. Experienced, classy passer of the ball who can open up defences. Would supplement Reo Coker, Barry, Gardner, Osbourne and Petrov nicely. MON may be tempted to part with Petrov. Isn't Harry a big fan of his? Possible swap move? January will tell!'

I read this on Scottish Fitba.com during the summer and it was the only place I read it,where did they get it from?Im not sure about him and although I hate Petrov Im not sure swapping him for Mendes would be great buisness.

isn't 'hate' a bit strong? What has Petrov done to earn this venom?

Hate is a very strong word, people throw it around all to easily. As for Mendes, it would be a sensible and good aquasition. and I share the opinion he could be our next Berger - but who is saying Berger couldnt have another year with us if he keeps fit and still has the desire?

Mendes, sadly not African enough for our 'Arry.

Dabs off! I can assure you he's not much like Berger anyway - far better at tackling and breaking up opposition play than Berger ever was.

Decent footballer, would definitely add to our ever improving squad. No doubt being linked with the guy however wont be to everyone's pleasing, yet again he would fall into the category of 'not a big-name' player. I'd take him, but lets not forget, the link is in The Sun. Enough said.

well, i wouldnt want to let him elave. As with the link about matty tatylor moving to you eariler in the summer, becase not (too) many players have been linked to you, it could have a ring of truth. to be hones, i doubt it. - although that coulbe more hope than expectation?

He's certainly creative from what I've seen of him, and if any team lacks creativity, then its us.

Think I'd prefer Matty Taylor. Is he available? He's not getting games.
