What Sort Of Club Have Villa Become

Vital Villa member and esteemed mod (!) col8's brother had a little trouble at the Liverpool game, when Gerrard scored that goal from a non free kick! One of the people in the Prawn Sandwich boxes behind him knocked on the window and showed two fingers and a rude gesture fist to the Villa supporters in the Lower North stand.

My brother who travels down from Worksop week in week out attends the games with his Son Pat and Niece Lydia, during the melee which ensued someone threw a bottle of coke at the window, not having the cap on it she got covered in coke and was a little shocked at the reaction of the people in their vicinity. A steward appeared in the box and despite my brother pointing to the culprit the steward just kept pointing at my brother with his finger indicating he should turn around and watch the game. The more he did this the more the people around us were getting really agitated. Things settled down and Villa of course lost the game.

Never mind next game up was Fulham, come the glorious day Lydia did not want to go to the game, she was shaken by the fracas 2 weeks earlier.

My brother complained to the club about the actions (lack of) of the stewards and the lower Witton, he contacted General Charles Krulak through the Internet and phoned the club to register his complaint. He was invited to attend the Chelsea game as a guest of Randy Lerner and the General.

After arriving at the ground by 2 O'clock and receiving a tour of the ground, they dined in the director’s suite and watched the match from the director’s box. Randy Lerner and the General spent time with them during their visit. After the game he told me that when Villa scored RL was leaping out of his seat with joy. Randys enthusiasm for the club was genuine, so many people had doubts about their true feelings for the club since taking over, my brother is 100% sure they are 100% Aston Villa. The result on the day and the fact that the ground was 'Rocking and Rolling” made their day complete they had a brilliant day were treated like royalty throughout their visit.

What sort of club have we become??? Off the pitch it appears to be a very professional, community spirited, well run one. On the pitch we appear to moving in the right direction. On the terraces we seem to be less whingey than normal, although some will moan at anything. As Fear says ..... happy days!

Should have broke the windows and hung the scousers !!! ......only joking,...... but the lower North Stand has become a mini Holte End since the start of the season, with a few over enthusiastic followers of the Claret and blue !....essentialy it is a family area and fans should behave appropriately and remember that there are younger fans in this area, lets not put them off football please.....lovely gesture by Randy and the General though, bet she loved it.....bet your brother and his son did too !

I still can't believe the difference in the club in just 12 months under new owners. Apart from one or two minor hitches the whole off-field operation seems to be 100% better and I know people will say that it's on the pitch that counts but surely the club as a whole needed bringing up to scratch. I mean if the fans are treated better at the ground it will make for a better atmosphere which rubs off on the players raising their performance, which will lead to better results, which will lead to better attendances, which will lead to more revenue, which will lead to attracting better players, which will lead to.....you get the picture. Basically I think that our board are forward thinking and realise that every aspect of running the club is inter-related. I just think that Randy is a class act off the pitch and he's supporting MON who is a class act on it.

Off the pitch we've become a much better club, there can be no doubting that fact. We've made great strides. On the pitch, we are getting there, but it will be no overnight story.
