Villa's Player Of August Poll Result

Vital Villa asked for your votes for Player of August.

The winner was winger Ashley Young with 39% who ran riot causing many a defender a headache!

The new rock in our defence Martin Laursen came in second with 22%

Shaun Maloney was next up with 12% for his Carling Cup performance and Nigel Hokey-Cokey was just 1% behind him for his midfield displays.

Other results:

Gareth Barry (9%)

Other (1%)

Our latest poll, suggested by *Holte*End*Star* asks if, following the transfer window closing, we have enough players to push for Europe.

Not a surprise really his flair on the wing get the supporters on their feet we have not had that for a long time at Villa Park.

Realistically it had to be Ash, but I think the best part of it all is the fact that there were several impressive individual performances that will be fondly remembered. The month of August has set the standard for the season hopefully, and maybe come seasons end, the voting for player of the season will be a closely contested affair between four or five players, unlike recent seasons where one player has run away with it.

Be interesting come seasons end to look back at these monthly awards, and see just how many monthly winners have proved to be models of consistency.

An England call up for Ash perhaps? It cant be too far away.
