Unoial Villa News...

Scott Carson is tipping Villa for Europe, the shot stopper said to the Express & Star “We’ve got to look to Europe. We’ve done well at the back and kept a couple of clean sheets and everyone can see how well the young players are doing up front. Hopefully we can take the next step. We took another step yesterday in beating Chelsea and we’ve got to carry it on against the teams around us. The lads have to look to Europe - there’s no point in settling for 10th or 11th place. We’ve got to be looking to make the next step like Blackburn did last season. There is usually a surprise team up there and hopefully we can be that team.” Yeah, qualify for Europe, then grab Carson on a permanent deal, come on Rafa, stop being so greedy, you've got three keepers at Liverpool, let us have this one!!!!!

The reserves entertain Fulham at Villa Park tonight (ko 7pm) hoping to build on last week's victory at West Ham.

The official site have announced that tickets for the home clash with West Ham (October 6, kick off 3pm) are now on general sale.

Villa skipper Gareth Barry has some wise words following our victory over Chelski yesterday. The influential midfielder declared: 'This counts for nothing unless we build on it.' Full quotes: Villa Skippers Reality Warning

A report on tribal football with no quotes or sources say that Martin O'Neill is hell bent on bringing in Porto right-back Jose Bosingwa. The report says their price was £15million this summer and is hoping that will fall in January when the transfer window re-opens.

The News of the World report that Celtic tried to sign Shaun Maloney before the transfer window closed on Friday - and failed obviously. The red top also say they failed to lure Spurs winger Wayne Routledge.

Vital Villa asked, in a poll suggested by Lions82, What do you think of Villa's transfer activity this summer? Ok, expected better (60%) We didn't sign anyone worth buying (13%) Fabulous, we have signed some real quality (11%) Poor, what is MON doing? (10%) Good, just what I wanted (4%) Useless (2%)

Reports on the gossip sites today say that Villa, West Ham and Manchester City tried to lure Antonio Cassano. The one report says £3million a year wages were offered but the Real Madrid striker went to Sampdoria on loan for the season instead.

Martin Laursen says the pressure is on the defenders following the arrival of Zat Knight from Fulham and Curtis Davies from WBA. The towering Danish international defender who was man-of-the-match v Chelsea said: 'I face a real fight for my place in the side. You might say it will be hard for Curtis to get into the team after that, but it is going to be hard for me to get into the team as well. It is great competition now to play centre-half so we will see. This is the first win against one of the four big sides since I came to the club. I haven't seen Villa win until this one so I am very happy for this result.' For the full quotes + Zat Knight on his debut: Man-of-the-match On Fight For Places

I reckon you just might be able to hang onto Carson after this season, but Rafa will make you pay through the nose.

No sign of AVFC48? Have to admit I haven't been on this site for 3 weeks as I got fed up with reading that idiots moronic, negative rants. I guess it's no surprise he's gone quiet now, given he doesn't do good news, but he'll be back as soon as we lose a game.

Tell you what. Le Tissier, Pinochio Thompson & Andy Gray (hun) are getting right on my wick too. For some reason they hate the Villa and can't give a impartial assesment of each game. Reo Coker was amazing yesterday, he's inspirational. With Davies to come in (he's quick) and Harewood to grab a few few goals I'm well chuffed.

You might want to read that 'idiotic morons' positive assesment of the squad in the 3 weeks you've been away then steve. Just because someone doesn't have the same opinion as you does not a moron make. I can give you plenty of tips on how to be a moron mind you, as I do a class A job myself.

Have to ask JF; does AVFC48 really exist? Or is he somebodyelse's alter ego? Anyway, my real point was, you gave him too much "air time" and it all got seriously boring, repetitive, tedious and one dimensional. If he has started making positive assessments, I assume the medication has kicked in?

yes, he is real! He is also a top bloke, as most people are on here. I give anyone who wants it air time, it is easy enough to move on if you don't like someones articles, I do make it pretty clear in the sub text under the title on the front page!

Hopefully by the end of the season Scott Carson will feel at home with the Villa, this should make his move to Villa Park seemless.

I'll drink to that Col, in fact make mine a double. While admittedly Scotty hasn't been fully tested yet, thanks to the defensive heroics in front of him, he does exude confidence, something that has been lacking from our keepers for many a day. Long may he not be 'fully tested' by the way.
