Villa Sign Togolese International

Aston Villa have tonight announced the signing of 24 year-old Togolese international midfielder, Moustapha Salifou.

Salifou has signed, from FC Wil for a nominal fee on a one year contract.

The official site state that he played in all three of his country's group matches in the 2006 World Cup with Arsenal striker Emmanuel Adebeyor.

Martin O'Neill said: 'He has great determination to succeed at this level and may well prove to be an excellent asset.'

Apparently he spent some time on trial with Villa, but I can't see any facts about that.

must have been holding out for that deal.

ok I've had a beer and my ouns are bad. I'll apologise now to you all.
Hoss The Villain
'puns' even... who invented alcohol. Mr Fear, it's about time a spell checker was introduced to save us from this embarrassment.
Hoss The Villain
Who ? From where ? Anybody know anything about him ? I can hardly find any mention of him anywhere on net .
If you Google him it seems that he has played in France and Germany but not at a high level. Said to be an attacking right sided midfielder - with a wayward shot, but did score in the World Cup. Also played for Stad Brest. Is this the no-body who becomes a star that we all like to see? Time will tell.
This guy is either ***** hot, or we can drop the "hot" Time will tell
Villain Of The North
I just keep picturing the character from Extra's with the daft face and wig 'is he aving a laff'?!? I must admit I wish we would stop this mad spending spree now, we'll be bust if we carry on bringing in all these top players! :o))
The Fear
Well there's this
Picture of him in the forum, must admit I don't think I'll be going out of my way to have an argument with him. The likes of Gareth Barry must be really happy to see the excellent signings made this summer though, certainly signalled our intent that is for sure (no, I'm not being sarcastic, I've turned over a new leaf and will be nothing but positive about the excellent transfer window we have enjoyed) :-)))
The Fear
Im just watching viid , looks ok .
the question is, who's next????? come on fear, i bet your phone has been ringing tonight, give us some inside info!!!!!!!!
MoN did say that 1 more deal could happen earlier today so I reckon thats it
my phone has been ringing hot tonight stig, most people saying WHOOOOO? lol. Must admit, it doesn't matter we've not heard of him, just that he turns out good, then everyone will hear about him. Looks solid, that is for sure.
The Fear
one thing is for sure, carew has competition for who is the 'longest' in the shower.
I want an FC Wii... i wonder whats more expensive... the console or the wage bill? at least it's another body in... 3 more in 3 hours please
Another inspirational signing goes to prove MON has not got a clue about buying quality. Just average good players at best I am sure this is not what the board was hoping for when they gave him the cheque book. We have got rid of some players only to be replaced by possibly slightly better players. Not one has been a top 6 player What a waste of good money.
lol Stig , we might have a new corner taker , hits the ball sweet in the vid .
suppose at 24 and for a nominal fee, we have nothing to lose and everything to gain. Would have been great to get him (and Harewood) after some real top signing or two but hey ho, lets see what the season brings. Must admit I'm glad the transfer window is all but over, its been agony, now lets get back to the football!!!
The Fear
Randy can't be getting many points on his MBNA card with these signings
Hoss The Villain
um... everyone who uses look at the article above this one... according to them we signed him from Stade Brest... good to see the quality of journalists out there
Im glad about this signing at least he's taking a punt and its only a nominal fee, nothing ventured nothing gained,I bet he does great and walks cause he's on a 1 year deal.
I got a translation from the FC Wil 1900 web site and found it quite amusing so there goes "Moustapha Salifou to Aston mansion. The Togolesi Internationle Moustapha Salifou (1 June 1983) changes by immediately from the FC Wil 1900 AG to the English Prime Minister League club FC Aston mansion. Salifou signed an a annual contract with option on extension. Over the transfer fee between the two associations silence was agreed upon.

God Im a pessimistic w@nker,on the Celtic site their getting very agitated now.The posts on the Maloney story are now just pure white hate against him, comedy gold.
I'll check that out Pongo
<--- runs to celtic site to laugh...
He looks like he could break Essien with one arm behind his back.
Anyone who shoots from 40 yards is ok by me!!! Shooooot!!
WTF! I'm half way through a bottle of QC and weve signed WHO? I *****in give up. now for the remainder of the bottle! Wake up MON this guy aint going to be any good because Wenger would have spotted him ages ago.
Wish they'd play that music during a game, get the samba feet going.
FC Wil 1900 AG as I am sure you all guessed play in the town of Wil - they are in what is the Swiss Second Division so I guess the standard isn't high but he seems to have played around 40 times for Togo. If Arsenal can have a player from Togo we might as well join them.

I want to go down the pub with him as a minder.
I wish i could waste the last couple of hours of the window away with alcohol... damned work!!! i will try to stay up in case we do get another player but... i'm hoping :D 1 beer wouldn't hurt... surely?
Just watched the clips..... he looks great!!!! honest. no i can't do it. i give up.
well no one had heard of tony yabboa, who signed for leeds 'not sure if its spelt right' but he could score, would have been happier with more than a one year contract,
He looks "interesting" , will you play him tomorrow?
Blue is the colour
If you look at the translation I got off the FC Wil web site eltoro you will see that they are saying that we (Aston Mansion of the English Prime Minister League) have an option to extend his contract.
pongo wearing
We might get him to man mark Jose, Blue is the colour.

(we play on sunday)
Well I suppose he is another body to make up the numbers.I certainly won't be shouting "shoot" on Sunday from the Holte. He would take my bloody head off....and I sit right at the back.Oh well God loves a trier!!
LOL thats the funiest youtube i have ever seen - highlights of a shot 30 foot over the bar......Serious now - MON will turn him into the best RB in the premier me he has done this kind of thing before!
Guys, how desparate are we. I pop out and come back and we've signed this geezer. 40 posts already!!! Haven't you lot got lives to lead 8-) Come tomorrow we won't know what to do with ourselves. Might have to talk to the missus.
Not sure if anyone else noticed from SSN.The penny just dropped with me.Lampard is out of England with a thorn thigh muscle. Then I realised that tyrant, won't be playing on Sunday. No shifty goals, or penalties. Now all we need is Drogba,SWP,Essien,Joey Cole & Malouda to get the squirts!!..3points in the *****ing bag!
Thats what the Togo guy is for, he is the chef at the Ramada Hotel Penns lane - Chelsea always stop at this hotel.....oooohhhh I remember this from when i used to work at Walmley Golf Club and couple of the reserves come to play golf and we turned them away on a
Think he has been working at our balti for some time now. Like MON I had to have a clear out, sounds like he could be cooking up something for the blue boys in his spare time. Could be no more **** than fat lumplard.
Well, I've supported Villa for 60+ years and put up with all the Ellis years, but this has me beat. We are trying to compete in the toughest league in the world without a recognised and experienced RB. I know I'm no football manger/coach but this is beyond my comprehension. If we are still in contention for a EU place at New Year I will be very surprised. If we leak goals down our roght side can we really blame the poor soul who is doing his best at RB, be it Melberg or Gardner? In my book, we can't. It will be wonderful if MON and his team can proove me wrong. I do so hope they will. Regardless, I will still be shouting for them, but realistically MON has really put his neck on the block in a way he had no need to. There have been some good players available for that position, anyway so why not buy at least one? I must be missing something or perhaps my brain is going funny.
Solid signings this transfer but still lacking and far lower than we were lead to be believe was going to be signing. I don't think the club has the amount of money available that we hoped there was, or why would we just not pay over the odds for our targets like everyone else? I find it hard to believe that the likes of man city and west ham can attract any better player than we could if went in for them.
Chimabonda cost peanuts, same as loads of other decent premiership players. MON will get him up to speed. Still mystified by the right back situation. Luke Young, Glen Johnson and Hoyte were all there for the taking at 4m maximum. If you can gamble 4m on both Harewood and Knight when we dont even need them we can surely take a 4m punt on a full back!?
nah its gotta be purely down to MON. randy has the cash, MON has his own ideas about how to build a football team. its all about team spirit and morale, he doesn't want to disrupt it. i kinda like us not going mad like west ham, man city and tranforming the squad. we gotta be patient but we'll get there - just slower than some of us hoped.
Lets write this guy off immediately! As a Villa fan, I find it my duty to have no faith whatsoever. Let the moaning begin!!
Well. Transfer window over and Villa are competing for a top half position. Europe. Forget it. We at Man City will also be outside the European spots but betcha we have more fun. Come on over to Vital Citeh, its a bit lonely over there now. Must all be out mad fer it.
Aston Smithy
I'm with you on all that you say ric112. I believe that MON got at least three of his top targets, Coker, Davis and maybe Carson. Maybe the others were plan B! If they were, then it's not like MON can come out and say it, as I don't think it would boost the players moral. I do think that they are solid back-ups though. I am of the opinion that we will qualify for Europe this year, and then we will attract some real top class (not top class money grabbers) players. Plus, if we are in a good position come Jan, then that may help attract some then! Oh, Melberg is a recognised right-back, just ask is international team-mates! Keep the faith!
Moustapha Salifou looks like a solid signing, but whether he'll be a real assett in the Prem remains to be seen...time will tell, I guess. UTV!!
It can't do any harm, it just back-up, i think. But i duno y a 24 year old only has a one year deal?? ne1 no the price??
Moustapha Salifou will play at right back. Why else has mon not signed a right back? He looks scary enough to be defender anyway!
Why are people dismissing him already, he hasn't even kicked a ball for us yet? C'mon boys give him a chance. I've actually seen clips of him and he looks an OK player, to be fare. He is a good winger or attacking midfielder who has got good control. He has got a good shot on him and he is very creative.
ChrisyB's Villa
I forgot to mention He can't be as bad as Petrov!!??
ChrisyB's Villa
At least he dont have a double barrel name..... so theres hope he will be better than the last "Off the shelf"
An interesting one. We've certainly nothing to lose, and good luck to the guy. Looking forward to seeing him at the earliest opportunity. Might be a gamble that pays off, who knows?
