West Ham Reserves Beaten By Villa

Villa reserves beat West Ham at their gaff (official London talk) 2-1 last night. The West Ham official site claimed: 'West Ham United's reserves were unlucky to lose out in the first game of the season at home to Aston Villa.'

Villa: Bevan; Lund, Earls, Lowry, O'Halloran; D Bellon, Y Bellon, Hogg, Herd; Stieber, Mikaelsson. Subs: Clark, Boyle, Bannan, Albrighton (for Y Bellon), Delfouneso (for Mikaelsson), J Collins (for Lund).

Jonathan Hogg scored in the 69th minute.
Kyel Reid equalised in the 73rd minute.
Villa snatched victory in the dying minutes of the game following a goal from Shane Lowry.

leelindsay - It's called a youth Academy. They are all the players that will be breaking through in the next 3 years or so :-)

The game was at Bishop Stortford's gaff and although our winner was in injury time we do appear to have had most of the chances. From the highlights on the OS the Bellon boys looked OK but Steiber perhaps should have scored a couple.

Decent way to kick off the new season. Hopefully the reserves will attract better home crowds this time out, compared to the numbers that have turned out over the last three or four seasons.

Glen they should play more games at Villa Park especially when Villa have 2 weeks without a game at home. I raised this with the General last season but he suggested they may screw up the pitch.

Agreed Col. I understand The Generals concern, but even so. I always enjoy the games, and while there's a steady, consistent attendance level, I'm sure there's more out there who'd enjoy getting into the habit of cheering the youngsters on.
