So here we go, the final countdown, just a few days left until the transfer window slams shut until January.

Through the summer, we've managed ten installments of our gossip column, most of it has ended in utter frustration, but the next day or so HAS to result in some players incoming. If reports are right, Zat Knight from Fulham is currently undergoing a medical, so that will be central defence cover, now for a striker, midfielder and a right back or two?!

From the other thread, I think Defoe may wait until January and bide his time. We all know that the top four take thier pick and the rest follow. We should just put in a big fat juicy offer, then we can't be accused of not trying. What other goal scorers are up for grabs?

Been a bit of entertainment hasn't it? Not far off 4000 posts through the summer + all the talk in the forum. You culd be right again about Defoe Tarzan, who knows though. Won't find out unless you bid. I would love to see Anelka at Villa, he SHOULD be the sort of MON player, he is quality, sulky bugger or not! Him up front having service from Young, Barry and Routledge, hmmm, tasty!

Tasty indeed, some of the problem for us that there is not (yet) clear blue water between us and the Fulham's, Bolton's and Readings of this world. Everton prove that with a bit of team spirit, decent manager, proud history and European football you can attract a fairly decent player or three.
