Another Link Ruled Out For Villa

Would love to be doing a 'thank crunchie it's Friday' happy article about a player signing, unfortunately we've not made a signing so I can't.

What I can do is follow the example set by Sky Sports and rule one out!

We have been linked with young German international defender Per Mertesacker this week but according to his agent, the Werder Bremen player is going nowhere.

Roman Pletz told skysports:

'At the moment it is not possible for Per to leave. He is under contract until 2010 and he is a very important player for Werder Bremen. There has been interest in Per since the last World Cup, with English clubs watching him. Aston Villa is a big club, but Per is happy at Bremen and he will stay at Bremen this year.'

So there you go.

Hey, it's sunny outside, Villa are going to get 3 points tomorrow and come next week, we'll sign five players.

We will won't? Tell me we will!??!

I'd say two at the most if we're lucky. Will we be happy? Depends very much who they are, what positions they'll fill, and whether we've lost any of our current squad members in completing the deal(s).

I dont like wishing the summer away, but i cant wait till sept 1st, no more tabloid gossip, no more chinese whispers and we can all get behind the squad we have, hopefully with another five additions!

I'll definitely drink to that silkie villain, five additions that is. I wonder how we'll be re-acting this time next Friday, with just over four hours to the closure of the window? Looking back on a great weeks work by MON maybe, or feeling as let down and as disappointed and frustrated as we are right now?

pretty sure Davies will leave WBA - we should have pounced whilst spurs were out of the picture. Rosenior looks a cert for me. Can't see anymore though
