Fulham Fan Says Villa Walkover!

As relative new boys on the network, we thought we here at Vital Fulham would introduce ourselves to one of the more established sites by both offering our opinions on the question provided.

1) So how have Fulham done in the transfer window and do you expect anymore arrivals or departures?

Putney – I’ve think we’ve done remarkably well in the transfer market. Sanchez recognized the first team squad was relatively thin and has gone out and bought, amongst other, players he’s worked with and knows what they are capable of, hopefully shortening the learning curve.

Mick Forrest – As for the future I’ll go for three more arrivals, Hypia, Sammi Traore and an unnamed player.

2) Were you surprised to get Steven Davis from Villa, and for such a low fee? How has he settled in do you think?

Putney - Nothing has surprised us this summer! That is apart from the fact that Al Fayed has finally opened his cheque book!

Mike Forrest - Four million isn't that low a fee to be fair. Davis is quite a good passer and would do well in a free role but is a little light weight for a full time center mid role, so play him behind the striker is my opinion, fans are generally pleased with him and none of us were surprised to be fair with all the speculation.

3) Is Sanchez the right man to take Fulham forward?

Putney - Not sure if I agree with my co-editor. I think a lack of experience in top flight league football may hold him back whereas, playing devils advocate, I don’t think his back room staff have covered themselves in glory at other clubs either. Nevertheless, they have my support and if we can improve on last season and out flirtation with the relegation battle, that’ll be an improvement.

Mike Forrest - Yes, him, Les Reed and Ray Lewington will hopefully take the club forward.

4) Where realistically do you think Fulham will finish and what should be a club of your sizes ambitions be?

Putney Our main ambition has to be to stay in the Premiership and consolidate. We may be a big club in name but not long ago we were floundering in the lower reaches of the Football League. A Carling Cup run would be nice though, especially if we could get to Wembley!

Mike ForrestWell when answering this similar type of question for Four Four Two, I said we would finish 15th and hopefully have a sturdy league cup run, this season is about building up the squad.

5) Are you surprised at the lack of activity in the transfer market by Villa so far?

Putney - Amazed! I thought he was stinking rich and would splash the cash big time especially after heaping so much praise on Martin O’Neill when he first arrived. Perhaps Martin doesn’t like spending his cash!

Mike ForrestYes, with Lerners millions and after taking a peek on the Villa official board, I thought there would be loads of signings, Sneider, Babel etc.... O'Neill seems to want to build an English team though, Harewood, Reo-Coker, Cahill, Young, Agbonlahor, and our Liam Rosenior may be joining you.

6) If you could have one of our players who would it be?

Putney - If I had to take one it’d be one for the future – Aagbonlahor!

Mike Forrest John Carew as a replacement for injured Brian McBride.

7) What is your prediction for the game on Saturday?

Putney - We’ll surprise you and nick it 1-0!

Mike Forrest A walkover for Villa!

"A walkover for Villa!" Are they trying to lure us into a false sense of security here? Actually I like Fulham. Dont really know why, but I've always had a soft spot for them, going back to the days of Johnny Haynes, Tosh Chamberlain, Graham Leggat, Bobby Robson George Cohen etc etc. I look forward to the visit to Craven Cottage whenever, one of my favourite grounds, and it also helps I guess that I have an excellent long-time buddy from Twickenham, a season ticket holder at The Cottage, whose actually coming up tomorrow with his wife to spend the weekend with us, and of course we'll be all trooping off to the game together. As for the game itself, well I think it will be a close fought affair, and possibly end up the very same way that last seasons meetings did, 1-1. At least that will ensure that peace reigns in my household over the weekend.
