Luke Moore 'I'm A Villa Boy'

Luke Moore 'I'm A Villa Boy'

Luke Moore has dismissed links to West Bromwich Albion with one easy sentence, the 21-year-old striker and product of the youth academy said 'I'm a Villa boy'. Say no more!

I must admit I was worried when I saw the paper reports linking him to a £3million move to the Baggies as I think he could blossom into a great striker for us but with Villa rumoured to be interested in their centre back Davies I feared a player swap + cash would be negotiated.

Moore told the official site:

'If the boss says he wants me to stay then that's good enough for me.'

Adding, 'I'm a Villa boy now, I've been here since I was eight years old, so I don't need to say where I want to be really. There have been a few clubs I've been linked with but that's out of my hands. All I know is that the manager's trying to sort out a new contract which for me means I'm in his future plans.'

'Like most young players here, we've been getting some confidence from what the manager's been saying. I've got a year left, but it's not a problem at the moment. I'm relaxed about it.'

O'Neill is said to be wanting to tie Moore, Olof Mellberg and Thomas Sorensen to longer deals as they all have just one year left on their contracts. That said, recent rumours on the forum are suggesting Sorensen has landed himself in hot water after criticising O'Neill for bringing in Scott Carson and that he might be allowed to leave. As I say, that is just a forum rumour at the moment although it has been reported that the Denmark international will be fined for his comments.

I'd very much like to see Luke given an extended run playing off John Carew. He deserves the opportunity, and we need to establish whether or not Luke is that 15 premiership goals per season striker that we are desperate for.

Luke Moore is overrated and not the wonder striker most Villa fans think he is. Nothing against the kid but he aint as good as what you lot say. 82 games (50 as sub) 13 goals. Hardly going to fire us in to the top 6 is it. But obviously because a youth player and a fan he is the man and the saviour of the club.

Wislor. 32 starts and 13 goals from your statistics. Better than anyone else we have got. He is the most natural finisher. Whether he is a 20 goal a season man remains to be seen. Let him have a run of 10 or 15 games on the bounce before you dismiss him. I think, and MON does from his interview in USA, that he has the POTENTIAL to be top class. Only time, and opportunity, will tell.

Granted, Luke Moore may not have been prolific so far. However, we need to remember he has not played as an out and out striker in a fair amount of his appearances. Last season for instance he played on the wing. If you put Owen on the wing, then I'm sure his overall scoring record would not be as good as it is! Lets also remember that he (Moore) is maturing all the time, and is improving his all round game. What I and a lot of other fans are saying is, he deserves a run in an out and out striking roll. Give the lad a real chance before you judge him!

I hope he proves me wrong i really do. But i'd much rather we went out and brought someone with real proven premiership quality than having to rely on kids.

and just because he comes out and ays he is a Villa fan it dont make him great. Another Lee Hendrie all over.

You cant compare him to Hendrie surely? He needs a run of games alongside John Carew, then we'll find out if he's the answer.

im only comparing him to Hendrie in the way that he can do wrong in some fans eyes just because he is youth player from Brum.
