50/50 On Villa Goalkeepers

Our latest poll is asking which keeper should Martin O'Neill select for the Newcastle game on Saturday.

The results are 50 / 50 between Stuart Taylor and Scott Carson.

However it looks like O'Neill might not have the dilemma as Stuart Taylor is struggling with a calf injury.

O'Neill told the official site:

'Stuart Taylor has a calf problem. The scans have come up not too bad and I'll see how he is towards the end of the week. I won't go into specific positions, but competition for places can only be a healthy thing. If we have the same competition for places as Liverpool, where they can afford to leave people like Crouch at home, that would be nice. For us to have competition for places can only be good news for me and I've never had a problem with those decisions.'

Happily John Carew and Martin Laursen have both shaken off the virus that affected them last weekend.

Has anyone got any polls they want asking? If so, please use the 'suggest a poll' link by the polls on the right hand side.

Our latest poll asks what strike partnership you prefer.

Suprising result. I think if you'd have asked the same question on Friday it would have been 90-10 in Carsons favour!

fickle? lol
The Fear
Stuart Taylor appears to be an unlucky keeper. He would have had an extended run last season, but got injured against Sheff Utd and we had to bring goolash in. He played well on Saturday as a shot stopper, but still flapped at crosses. This CONVENIENT injury might be what MON wanted, or am I being cynical?
krfeskivilla
All so fickle, but has Taylor ever really had a chance?
KSarge1
In fairness i would go with Carson no matter what.
KSarge1
If Taylor is fit O'Neill must put him in again over both Carson and Sorenson. To play either of these would be an unfair "slap in the face" for him after such an exceptional performance. Let the other two earn their selection!
villacross
Taylor has had very limited opportunities KSarge1, that is very true. He certainly has never enjoyed the luxury of an extended run, but sadly, I dont think he ever will do. He has never looked truly convincing when he has played, and even on Saturday he flapped once or twice at crosses, a failing that could have proved costly.

totally agree with u villacross,he didnt get man of the match for nothing..
judgevillian
Lets face it Carson hasn't come to polish the bench has he! Taylor was MOM on saturday but there is no room for sentiment in football. MON has to play his best availabe Keeper.
Villan57
Right now Villan57, I guess that has to be Carson. Potentially he has it in him to be the best of the three, although as of right now, I personally think that there's very little to choose between either one of them.
