Delaney Future Decision Due

Delaney Future Decision Due

I mentioned recently about growing rumours that Mark Delaney is set to announce his retirement having failed to overcome the knee injury that has plagued him for a season and a half.

The Daily Mail are now reporting that the Wales international right-back is set to make a final decision this week about his future having been out of action for 11 months.

What a blow to the player (and Villa) if he does have to call it a day, we were always much better with him in the team and when he returned and played the season before last around the Christmas time in the centre of defence, he helped dramatically to halt the slide we'd been on.

Good luck Mark.

Gotta feel sorry for the guy. Nobody likes to see any pro forced into early retirement through injury and from a purely selfish point of view we bloody well need him back!

And then we had no right back fit or otherwise.

Vila fans recognise what a great full back Mark has been. He was one who could snuff out the very best and Ryan Giggs often struggled against him. I was hoping he would do a Laurson and get back. Hope this is still the case, but looks not good. Best of Luck to him, whatever his decision.

Doesn't look good for him does it? Obviously this injury was 'one bridge too far'. Though we're all half expecting the bad news, it'll still come as something of a shock when he finally informs us of his intentions.
