Who Will Villa Sign? - Part 9!

The ninth instalment of our summer long gossip column!

We've already had nearly 3 million (ahem) rumours, arguments and links!

So Who Will Villa Sign Pt 8 - Click Here

Getting a bit depressing all this talk and not being able to update the threads with new players. Lets hope by the 10th the 'in' column will exceed the 'out'! We need at least one big name to put down a marker for the season surely?

Anyway, here continues the rumours thread on the front page. See a story linking us with a player? Share it with us all. Heard a tenuous link, or seen a player around Villa Park? Let us know! Oh, and although I'll do my best to announce incoming players as soon as possible, if you hear of a signing before I do, wang it on this thread as well.

The January thread ended up with nearly 2000 article comments, spaced over several articles. This summer one so far has over 3500 comments!

So Far.

Out:

Jlloyd Samuel
Gavin McCann
Lee Hendrie
Robert Olejnik
Stephen Henderson
Aaron Hughes
Steven Davis
Chris Sutton (retirment due to eye damage)
The Djemba Twins

In:

Nigel Reo-Coker from West Ham £8.5m.
Marlon Harewood, from West Ham for around £3.7million.

Hurry up ffs!
In MON we trust!
As I have said and got slated, I think its very disappointing, I dont see any one coming in before the Liverpool game and that is wrong. There is no way we should be in this position. MON has made a big mistake in not sorting this out.
LITTLE 77
Does Harewood really count as a signing lol
Christo
well I don't like to say, but I feel quite smug, I did say things weren't going to plan 8 weeks ago, but was hounded by the 'let MON sort it out brigade' and 'he knows what he's doing brigade' gotta say I think he's dropped a b4ll4ck, and your right christo harewood was never on our radar, making one signing with 3 days till kick-off, very poor indeed could do better!
eltoro
Well all the other teams pushing for europe have they have all signed about 6
Christo
lol lets sign danny mills - at least he is a right back!
Eaton_thevillafan
eltoro, i am starting to heed your words.
Stig
None of us have a clue and listening to MON`s comments over the last 2 days neither has he.....mmmm.....i don`t feel smug but still disilussioned.
ASPINALL
gordon has signed for sunderlan according to his local radio station talk107.com ffs, dont believe this!
Belfast Villain
Nothing on their OS?
Gazvilla
dont know mate, but meant to be on talksport 2 now, check our forum thread. hope it aint true.
Belfast Villain
lol remeber talk sport saying we would sign someone yesterday and we didn't
Christo
I think guys that we all are massively disappointed, but come Saturday at 5 we really need to get behind the club and MON.He is still the best manager for our club at the moment. I just hope his poor summer dealings dont haunt us to much this season. What price one of Gavins super strikes against us and a Ridge goal??
LITTLE 77
Stating on SSN that he has agreed personal terms with Sunderland. This whole thing doesn't make sense. He was supposedly heading to B6 today for talks. If the club are talks with him I think they should have confirmed this to the media.
notthedougellisstand
Has been confirmed on Talksport, states 5 year contract. What the F**k is going on. I'm p***ed off with this now. How can we lose a player to Sunderland ? We're a laughing stock now, disgraceful.
notthedougellisstand
I apologise for the language The Fear but I'm irrate at the moment
notthedougellisstand
Notthedougellisstand - wait for the rest of the reports to come through - even thpo i have a real nasty feeling craig is staying up north um still gonna hold faith. MON can do this!
Eaton_thevillafan
He`s signed for Sunderland - save your faith.
ASPINALL
I know it's been said but I'm going to say it anyway - only signing one guy is disapointing but what makes it worse is letting - ridge, maccan, davis and hughes go without first having replacements. I don't care about 'I want to leave'. statements from this players. It should be the club first and their desires second. I'm not going to criticise MON but it's not the way the majority of us thought he'd handle the pre-season. I feel a bit LET down by all the hype coming from the club at the end of last season. I just hope we can survive the first three games without any injuries. This situation should never have happenned.
myleftfoot
give me links and ***** and then i will believe - i wont follow some 2 bit radio call in show
Eaton_thevillafan
ASPINALL and all others - how do you know that MON was even in for Gordon?
myleftfoot
Roy Keane my guess
Christo
It's not on their site
myleftfoot
Sorry myleftfoot - i was using every media link all summer i wasn`t aware you had inside info, with Hearts confirming we`d had a bid accepted i took that as a decent guideline.
ASPINALL
It wasn't reported on Five Live, maybe there is still hope.
notthedougellisstand
Gordon has signed for relegated Sunderland, because we would not pay silly money for an unproven keeper. MON is class and will not be held to ransom as have sunderland. Little 77 I might owe you a tenner. However its not over yet.
morky13villa
Its on BBC site now, would be very surprised if it isn't true now. Those who say we don't know if Villa were in for him, get real. It was reported on most major sites (BBC and Sky)that he was travelling to VP and we had agreed a fee. This pre-season is becoming a farce and has been very poorly handled. We may now have a squad with more quality but we have far less players and that was shown in the squad number list. I'm dreading November to January again because we are going to be in a mess yet again.
notthedougellisstand
Morky, we agreed a fee so must have wanted him and offered the same as Sunderland.
notthedougellisstand
Honestly it is time for MON to stop thinking of the slight overvaluation of players. FFS he paid over the odds for Harewood, Reo-Coker, Petrov and Young. The only way we will fix this is to get the 4-5 players left with a chance of joining us in now by paying over the odds. This means Davies (£10m), Jaaskelinan (£4m), Boswinga (£4m), Hoyte (£2.5m) and Haagelnad (£5m) also throw £15m at Ajax for Sneijder and get us fans bouncing again!!! We need this and it will make up for the mistakes (i.e. selling Davis, Ridgewell, Hughes and McCann)
deano.avfc
States on BBC site that deal is expected to be completed tomorrow and he didn't even come down for the talks. We got shunned by him, it gets worse.
notthedougellisstand
2 words F>U>C>K> him
Eaton_thevillafan
I can't believe this. All the hype. The mass hysteria. It was all 5hite. Same old Villa. I was going to get myself a season ticket at the end of August. I'm so glad I've waited. We're going to be dire. You wait. We'll have 3 or 4 injuries, and it'll be back to playing the same old BORING long balls blah blah blah. - - - - - -- - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - I really hope I'm eating humble pie later on this month - - - but based on the evidence of this summer (Harewood?!) and last Christmas (Defender Please?) I can't see it being the case.
evoflash
Eaton, F**k who ?
notthedougellisstand
We seem clueless,Jesus it`s shambolic?
ASPINALL
If rumour is true and GORDON did not even bother to speak to us then screw him. sorry that was aimed at no writers on this forum
Eaton_thevillafan
lets round off a fine transfer window. Mido anf Ghaly any one?
Eaton_thevillafan
I'm feeling let down.
evoflash
This is pathetic - our RB playing tonight v Walsall who is on trial from Le Havre was rejected by Ipswich a few weeks ago. Unbelievable!!! The club sold record season tickets and I am sure thousands of fans think they have been falsely sold them.
deano.avfc
I get the feelin that Gordon may have felt more wanted by Keane because of his prolonged serious intrest. Also an ex Hearts player said that Sunderland being close to the Scottish border may have been a factor. He would be guaranteed his place there aswell.I think we missed the boat on this one.
Pking
MON has not got the bottle for the transfer market. Our handerling of this is a disgrace simple, how the hell have we got into this. Where is Randy he should be kicking MON arse. If things dont go right Saturday do you think there will still be shouts of "Martin give us a wave"?
LITTLE 77
Get Deadly back in!
evoflash
yet we turn inter over 3 - 0. im seriously confused
Eaton_thevillafan
Gordon said that he was expecting to come to villa for a chat and medical. His club told him villa had not met the valuation and that he had to sign for relegation fodder. I repeat, we would not pay silly money for non proven players. WE DID NOT MAKE FINAL BID!!!!!
morky13villa
Ok pking fine, but if MON doesnt fancy Tommy then where are all the other keepers?? MON has got it wrong simple as
LITTLE 77
If we lose 1st 2 games of season,InterMilan will mean Jumping Jack Shhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh
ASPINALL
Gordon probablhy didnt speak to him because we didnt get as far as agreeing terms. All it would have taken was a phone call to his agent tonight: 'Look I know the Sunderland deal looks good but we will better it, dont sign anything, just come down and have a chat, see the ground tomorrow and watch the game v Walsall tonight' SIMPLE!!
deano.avfc
not deadly - we would have sold half of the squad and signed freebes from the championship. even koumas now seems a attractive prospect
Eaton_thevillafan
I think MoN has so far undeniabley done a great job with the players we have, but the way he has handled this window means we are a couple of bad results away from a crisis. How long will it take for the crowds to get restless?
Pking
how do you know this morky??
deano.avfc
I never thought I would be thinking ' thank God we have at least got Harewood' PATHETIC!!!
deano.avfc
so is the bbc website bull*****ting us at the mo?
Eaton_thevillafan
Will people stop telling me we did not bid for Gordon, we should have!! I am as upset that we were not in for him FFS
LITTLE 77
Eaton we shouldn't be barracking the player for not wanting to talk to us. We should be barracking the manager for not selling the club. We have got a fantastic history that excedes most clubs in the Premiership but you have to sell the current product and clearly Gordon didn't like the vibe from VP so didn't even talk to us. This is a disgrace. Mr Lerner needs to kick some serios ass into gear cos at the moment we haven't even hit second.
notthedougellisstand
One or two months ago and we were talking of Sneijder, Wright-Phillips, Jaaskelinan, Gordon, Drenthe, Defoe, Smith and who have we got?????
deano.avfc
We did bid for Gordon, believe the BBC site, Morky is talking tom tit.
notthedougellisstand
Yep Deano, scottish reporter on talk sport, spoke to Gordon 3 times today. He was expecting to travel to villa today. His club said there are no other offers to match Sunderland so do it. He hung around for 3 days waiting for villa to up the anti.
morky13villa
notthedougellisstand - i agree with you completely but im in the understanding that he did not even bother to talk to us. i take it back if im wrong but im really annoyed at the mo (like maybe all of us) i dont dout MON and i know that he will come good. a part of me hopes gordon changes his mind and signs with us. got another nasty feeling we may not even be in for davies. This has gone to a real low.
Eaton_thevillafan
We didn't talk to Gordon, by vibes I mean talking to other people about the club, board and players
notthedougellisstand
Someone on AVFC blog said he was listening to the reports on Talk 107 and they said Villa didn't match Sunderlands offer.
Pking
Morky that doesnt sound too bad - he hasnt signed yet - MON is managing the team - if he checks his messages after the game he can always go higher and see Gordon first thing. Its at this stage MON stepped in and took Harewood......PLEASE LET THIS HAPPEN!!!! Plenty of others have turned down Sunderland at the last minute!!
deano.avfc
We are all giving MON some stick at the moment maybe there isnt the money at the club, maybe we had to sell to bring the wages down, maybe Randy and co are not the great things we all thought. Any takers??
LITTLE 77
It gets better - we couldnt beat Walsall and Harewood cant score!!
deano.avfc
shocking - well gordon will sign for sunderland now. now we gotta move for carson or jussi. VILLA DO SOMETHING!
Eaton_thevillafan
Nothing on SKY sports - Maybe - just maybe
Eaton_thevillafan
Not the dougwhatever we did make initial bid but not good enough. Why did it take so long for him to sign. Because His club wanted an auction. Dol would have paid what they wanted. WHERE ARE LEEDS. Work it out . When will you realise you are better off.
morky13villa
ASPINALL - grow up. All I said was MON hasn't said he's in for Gordon - the media has - just as they said we were in for SWP and Defoe - Both of which MON denied - so don't spit the dummy if someone questions these links.
myleftfoot
Morky please wake up, this summer has beena complete disaster, MON has made some big mistakes. Yes he is a good manager(I think) but we are in big trouble and if you can not see this you are in big trouble
LITTLE 77
well might as well forget about new signings b4 the red scouse game. aww man i aint looking forward to it at all.
Eaton_thevillafan
We are not Leeds. Leeds did not have a Billionnaire owner, they speculated and lost. We have spent £2m net on players this pre-season. On SSN "Sunderland have beaten Aston Villa to the signing" so open your eyes and don't keep having blind faith.
notthedougellisstand
Gone - ***** - we are in a fine situation now.
Eaton_thevillafan
MoN is the best manager we'll have for a long long time,I think he's messed the transfer window up.But the sheer anger and disrespect being aimed at him worries me that we'll have some clown in charge in 12 months thats very good at spending money and rubbish at managing players.
Pking
myleftfoot - so who are we after in your opinion, get your head out of the sand or even better can you tell me the MON plan on getting a RB and keeper? Even better, can you phone him.
ASPINALL
MON could be the next England manager for all we know but this is the only issue - we are theadbare and cant seem to sign any worth wile player. I got a real nasty lump in my throat.
Eaton_thevillafan
pkong, as a Villa fan I have every right to question the managers lack of judgement, I will still be going to Villa long after MON has packed his bags, this is not MON F.C. He needs to explain himself and quick, not just about Gordon but about all his dealings this summer
LITTLE 77
and how many football teams have you managed Little 77?If we lose O Neill were effed.
Pking
Calm down people we are 1year into a 5 year plan. see the bigger picture and stop wetting yourself over 1 transfer window. after 30 odd years of malaca ellis, Villa were superb even in the third div without Malaca. THIS IS HEAVEN. Let em get on with it.
morky13villa
Morky, 1 transfer window. Unless I'm very much mistaken MON has been in charge for two and a half windows.
notthedougellisstand
Fear do us a favour and tidy the dressing room whilst the lads give Liverpool a spanking on Saturday.
col8
but we hardy have a squat - were promised some "world class" signings and look where we are - 4 days we face the champs leauge finalists with no recognised RB or GK - I seriously admire whats been done behinf the scenes ie - new training ground and holte restoration but that wont put 3 points on the board week in week out. there is no squad stability and that is the most important thing at this moment. every one of our closest competetors have signed more players than we have. sorry but it aing good.
Eaton_thevillafan
pking what a clever argument, do you think MON is happy yes or no? are you happy? I really want you to answer that please answer.Morkey this is not one transfer its a whole of summer of inactivity and bulls**t from MON and the board
LITTLE 77
Little 77 Im sure he's not happy but Im what are you gonna do S hit happens turning on one of the few quality managers we've had is going to achieve nothing positive.I dont have to agree with you give the keyboard a rest for a few minutes and grow a brain.
Pking
Ha ha I keep supporting the Villa just because hes the manager I dont and neither do yoy, have to agree with everything he does, think for yourself, have an opinion try it it wont hurt(much). He saved us last year agree, man management amazing gets the best out off all his players but seriously mis judged or f***ed up this summer
LITTLE 77
Incredible have an opinion, question, and you get accused of starting a witch hunt!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
LITTLE 77
Pking, I agree everyone is entitled to their opinion. This includes those who are unhappy and those who are willing to let things ride but ultimately I'm sure that come 5:15 on Saturday everyone of us will be supporting the players and wanting a win. Just because people criticise doesn't mean that they are not fans and don't support the players on the pitch. I do believe that if the vast majority of fans were asked about our current situation they would be unhappy because we all know the squad isn't big enough.
notthedougellisstand
Pking, thank you for posting common. We are sooooooooo much better than not too long ago. With great prospects. Give the fella a chance.
morky13villa
Of course Im annoyed about the way he's handled the transfers this summer,no matter what he says starting the season with no right back and a smaller squad was never his intention. But some of us are so quick to crucify him, that is my biggest worry. The window still hasn't closed yet.
Pking
Would you rather people do it on here or on matchday ?
notthedougellisstand
Im sorry Little 77 I dont think you need to grow a brain by the way.
Pking
We are all supporters of MON we all want him to be a success, why would we want him to fail? MON fails Villa fail. The question is has he done well this summer and pking you answer yourself that you are not happy. Think for one minuite if Doug had done this, imagine the reception he would get?? Saturday everyone gets behind MON and the players. There is no cruicfy or witch hunt but a load of people who feel let down with what the board said, what we expected(our fault) and what has happened.
LITTLE 77
That is exactly true Little77
notthedougellisstand
Fingers crossed for Jussi,I have a horrible feeling he'll give Taylor his chance.Chin up eh.
Pking
What i can't get my head round is WHY let so many go when nobody seems to be comming? MON must have something up his sleve , had'nt he?
Dudley_Villa
Posted this on the other thread, thought it might interest a few of you - I've heard a whisper that Manu had something to do with the Gordan transfers. It was something along the lines that Manu have put a clause into his contract that they can approach him after two years. It was done via his agent hence the reason MON lost all interest and refused to commit. Just a rumour that mind, but told to me by someone who just doesnt make up stories, my old man.
PBAVFC
If I'm completely honest I wanted Jaaskelianen anyway (check previous posts to confirm this) but I hate to think that the club look bad and I think this whole episode does that.
notthedougellisstand
No disrespect to Sunderland but being rejected in favour of them will hurt anyone (I just know they'll whip us cos I said that).I think theres more to this than he chose them over us.
Pking
We sell low and when we actually do buy ( they`re normally transfer listed or reserves ) we pay top dollar - we`re not smart enough.
ASPINALL
I think we could have got more for Ridgewell but the rest probably went for the right price. I know Davis is a good player but he wouldn't have started and if he had another season on the bench we wouldn't have got £4m for him. This is why they sold him now.
notthedougellisstand
Well we still need a GK, 2 x RB and a CB and we've only got two and half days to sign players to play on Saturday. Can't see any coming in before then. So that leaves 3 weeks to get them in. I'm extremely frustrated and worried about our club,
notthedougellisstand
Nigel Spink from Birmingham. We're getting pretty desperate now. All those in favour of Spinksy returning to his 'home' to help us out of a serious fix, say 'Aye'.
glensider
Aye - Danny Mills is FOC
ASPINALL
According to the Telegraph he never met MoN.
Pking
Gordon that is.
Pking
ASPINALL - how about Jussi and maybe Hoyte - 4 and 2 mill respectively - Bolton were holding out for more and now they may not be - This could be what MON was alluding to when he said the asking price has dropped. By the way - just because I'm not panicking it doesn't follow that I've got my head in the sand. I'd love to play poker with u.
myleftfoot
i reckon we have a much better 1st 11 now than when MON took over (even without a proper RB). His motivation skills are reaping dividends already in my opinion. This is a long term strategy to get us in the champions league consistently - an awful transfer window is a step back we can all agree. However i can see light at the end of the tunnel, in this dark hour.
ric112
at the end of the day, it becomes night-time
ric112
good summary ric112. I do hope we get some info from the club though in the coming weeks about what exactly went on, and I hope we learn lessons from it for next time....I do personally think that it shouldn't be the manager organising transfers for one. Tell the Chairman who you want, and let the negotiating happen.
YatesyVillain
out there is still: hoyte, jussi, bosingwa, hangeland, davies. familiar names to us all. our bid? for davies, if it happened, was a bit lame, 8 mil + and we'd have him? the point about supplying the fans with info is important yatesyvillain, then all this negativity would not surface. sure they're being 'professional', but at some point you have to look after who keeps you in business. this cards close to your chest stuff can get indulgent and frustrating. but i trust MON, and i think most of us do.
leftfoot
Who will Villa sign you ask? Zero. Honestly I can't see us getting even at least another youth academy signing. Not this transfer window anyway. I thought when MON spent the 10 mil on Young last January that it was just pocket change type of cash and that we would be spending big to capture the big guns. The only signing I can see MON making before the window closes is Danny Mills on a free transfer after being released by Man City. Another player from a team who were ****house last year, but this year will be worthy contenders due to the activity this window (referring to West Ham directly). Either way, overall I am very, very disappointed with this window. And i just can't wait to be proven wrong by MON.
AussieVilla
myleftfoot - quality and agreed as Jussi/Hoyte would calm everyones concerns(blackjack better?) Agree with AussieV that my money is now lumping on a big fat ZERO.
ASPINALL
The transfer strategy of letting players go before signing replacements is surely flawed, and I haven't seen it in operation ANYWHERE else. All it means now is teams know we are desperate for players, so what kind of negotiating position does that put us in now??? Go on West Brom....(as we bend over)
YatesyVillain
Why is everyone talking about Jussi as if is he's our player? He's not for sale, staying on until his contract runs out. Some of the posts on here are bordering on arrogance, expections in the clouds 1 year into a five year plan. Bolton and Everton (quite rightly in my opinion) think they are better than us - I'm afraid the league tables don't lie. I read yeseterday that Southampton had rejected a bid of £5m for Kenwyn Jones from Derby -who??? I agree with our policy of not being ripped off as long as we get some players in before the end of August.
tarzan
O'Neil was on SSN this morning and he said more players will be coming in but not if he has to go into any bidding wars
Christo
It is not just about being ripped off. At the moment and for the foreseeable future the market will be overinflated. This is due to the number of clubs that now have new owners and the TV money. Until the club and particularly MON realise this we are not going to be able to sign the players that we want because other clubs will simply outbid us. IMO if you want a player badly enough and believe that he will be a good addition to the team then you go out and you pay the money. If you don't then you find yourself in the position that we are in at the moment, good first team minus a RB and a very small squad. Another point, FFS stop saying trust MON. Yes he is an excellent man-manager and has fantastic motivational skills but when it comes to the transfer market he has been found to be seriously wanting. Final point, I admire the man but with or without him we are still Aston Villa and it is the club I support not one man. If he leaves I am not going to leave with him, so when you all come on here and say stop criticising, have a second thought. We should all be able to question the actions of the manager and the board, if we think they have made mistakes or things are not going well. Evidently this transfer window has not gone well, anyone who says otherwise really does have their head in the clouds.
notthedougellisstand
yep agr with that but it seems mon is scared of other clubs and there money but mind you I admit am scared of Eggert he is so ugly
Christo
At the end of the day we can only judge MON on what he's done in this transfer window, and 10 players out 2 in, is poor, he had the cash and he says he will buy, but not when there's a bidding war! what **** planet is this guy on, if three clubs want the same player and we don't bid what the others do (Sunderland) then we lose, is that really the way forward at this moment when we have sold our only RB, we have to get bidding we have no choice, he's put us in that position! I know one thing, the start of the season could have been easier, and if we get to the end of August and have signed no one and not won any of our opening 4 games, it's going to be a long season! questions need to asked, why are we in this position 3 days from K.O.
eltoro
As I have said on the prevous post, good point eltoro.
notthedougellisstand
Just want to throw something out here. If we have signed no further players come Saturday and at half-time of the Liverpool game we are 2-0 down or worse. What do you think the reaction of the fans will be ?
notthedougellisstand
I can hear those boos already.
notthedougellisstand
why you still bothering with these threads Fear? Should be obvious to all by now that we aint going to sign anybody.
jonah
Why has the official site got no details regarding todays villa related paper links. Could it be that they don't want to show any details regarding the Gordon debacle. Still nothing on the official Sunderland site, this I find very strange. If you had just paid a British transfer fee for a GK you would announce it to the world asap. Either their site is worse than ours (is this possible) or is there a problem with the deal ? Said on SSN last night that he had signed as did Niall Quinn, just think its strange no mention of Press Conference or on their OS.
notthedougellisstand
Anyone will do now, absolutely anyone! I will be happy with Carlton Cole and Phil Bardsley! Is Erik Bakke still available?
DeanoVilla
we weren't in the negotiations with gordon, for all we know his contract did have unnaceptable clauses - such as the rumoured "Man U exit" clause - which sunderland were happy to include and we weren't. It isn't what i hoped for, thats for certain.
The Usual Suspect
Carlton Cole lol now were not that desperate but I wouldn't mind Bakke
Christo
Gents, get a grip. So we are dissappointed that we missed out on Gordon but if Sunderlands relegation battle is the height of his ambition then were probably better off without him. I hope that this may spark a test of Liverpools resolve with a big bid for Carson. All this talk of bring back Doug is mad. Lets try and keep positive
return of godzvilla
Im sorry eltoro but ''we can only judge MoN on what he has done in the transfer window''? please explain.Performances on the pitch the unity of the players, these things dont come into it no.
Pking
Well I did say this time next year he will be moaning about wanting to leave because Sunderland might be relegated
Christo
We aint matched Sunderlands offer and He is not worth 9 mill simple as that and MON said he wont be held to ransom.Quinn should splash that sort of money on decent forward line cause its goals that keep u in the prem and a 9 mill goal keeper will win you maybe 5 games in the season max. Im not defending the lack of players coming into the club but we would be *****ing and moaning if he bought players for thw sake of it.Hearts released villas interest in Gordon so the fans'us' would get excited and then that puts presure on the club to match their unrealistic valuation for the player to appease us.There is better proven and cheaper keeprs out there we simply move for them now i.e. Jussi
sk1nner80
Nothing at all on OS? not even pics from last nights draw.Strange.
sk1nner80
stieber sounded impressive last night.
sk1nner80
Whenis our OS being revamped? was on Sunderlands and it looks a lot better than ours.
sk1nner80
Will goals be showen on Goals on Sunday if the matches are televised on Setanta or even football first? will be well annoyed if they aint.Back to match of the day i guess.
sk1nner80
Skinner you are so right. There's no point wasting all that money on Gordon, he's not worth it - full stop. Most of the people on this thread wouldn't have cared about him a few weeks back. I'm really positive about our new set up, we just have to be patient. Look at how long ot took Everton to sign Baines, agents are just playing off the different clubs to drive up the prices. The Dyer deal is another example of deal that was thought to be done only for Newcastle to demand an extra 2m. I don't blame Newcastle one bit as the market has cahnged since they sold Parker for 7m.
tarzan
MON claimed earlier on in the summer that he was determined that he wanted to strengthen the squad so that he didn't have the same problem as he experienced last November when injuries and suspensions set in and we found ourselves short of players - even having to borrow a keeper from Palace! He then claimed that he intended to have all his signings in before the start of Pre-season training and we constantly heard that he was working on things. I then read today that he says "ideally i would like to go back to the size of squad that we had last season" but the size of the squad last season he claims was too small!! i am confused. I know its all been said befor on here but as far as i can see we are pretty desperate for a goalkeeper, a right back if not 2 and cover for central defence and midfield in other words i reckon we're short of probably 5 players. 3 days until we face Liverpool infront of a full house not to mention a record number of season ticket holders. Since MON & randy took over at Villa I've always had 100% confidence in what is happening down there but i have to admit that i am extremely dissapointed in the lack of player movement into Villa Park over this summer. Lets hope that MON pulls some great deals out of the bag and gets those players that i feel the squad desperatley needs over the remaining 3 weeks of the transfer window and sooner rather athn later.
melbourne holte ende
I think we should relax and wait until the end of August, I have confidence in our current squad. I don't think we should spend really big on mediocre players.
tarzan
Melbourne - if we got back to the squad size of last season we would be much stronger because we would have better players than the dross that made our squad up last year - Hendrie, Hughes, McCann, Henderson, Djemba x 2, - these players wouldn't get a game because they're not good enough. Have them replaced with better players and of course we're in a better position. A squad of 20 good players the manager will pick is a stronger squad than 30 players, 15 of which the manager won't pick.
The Usual Suspect
tarzan i agree - too much panic and fear on this thread right now
The Usual Suspect
yea lets all start blowing off at the end of august but for now just wait and see what will happen because sure it will maybe this window will be like waiting for a bus
Christo
I think Martin would have liked most of his signings before the start of the season but i think he has been held to ransom. He's playing a waiting game so these prices drop towards the end of the window. It's a gamble, but it could prove to be shrewd. He's happy with what we have for the first couple of games but i'd expect a lot of activity soon. He's not an idiot and he knows we need numbers. I think a lot of us, myself included, expected a influx of big stars but that was never going to happen. I'm really excited about this season, we look really good going forward and IF Laursen can stay fit i think we'll be pushing top six! As they say, Rome wasn't built in a day!!!!
weller77
The point is this. The transfer window has been mismanaged. The fees will not reduce as clubs will still have plenty of money and the clubs that get off to bad start will panic buy offering more money for players.
notthedougellisstand
MON has already said that he does not think Laursen will be able to play a whole season without getting injured or needing to rest his dodgy knees...? why allow Ridgewell to leave before he has a replacement in first...!
deemz
Just thinking back to a number of posts on this topic from the Celtic fans right at the start of the transfer season - I thought they were just being bitter and blowing smoke up our @rses, but now it appears that they had got him sussed out 100% - seems like our MON likes to leave it very very late in his transfer dealings.....
YatesyVillain
I think we should have far fewer injuries this season because of our improved training facilities and if we can get back to the number of players we had at the end of the season we should be fine.
VillaMalta
I'm as frustrated as anyone, but they will come in. They have to.
weller77
Thats it Villamalta lets just leave it to luck and HOPE that our players don't get injured because we have a new training facility. Chelsea have a new state of the art Training facility but look at the injuries they have. Injuries are all about being lucky and unlucky but its the size of your squad that determines if the injuries damage your season.
notthedougellisstand
notthedougellisstand - in terms of mismanaged, I presume you mean selling before we buy? I can't criticise the strategy one bit, MON has removed the dead wood quickly and this in turn will help embed some of our established youngsters. We can't risk the stability of the club by getting in the wrong type of players for exorbitant prices.
tarzan
Can't see why we wouldn't stump up 9m for Davies, I think they definitely want a lot more than that or a large proportion of the sell on fee? That's the issue here as with the Gordon transfer, it must be, it's all very well paying over the odds but of the price goes down...This could be potentially disasterous as we do have some financial plan to work within. What do people think?
tarzan
tarzan - you cant criticise only getting one first team player in when all our key competitors are getting them in numbers? At least Sven has replaced his dead wood - we just have a gaping hole. Lets see if you criticise when we get a few injuries. Its time to take the blinkers off, we have been let down badly. How we can have european aspirations with no right back at all and only 1 fit keeper it is laughable. Its not fair to us fans who are patient and back the club to be given reo-coker and harewood back in return.
tylervilla
The number of players we had at the start of last season was not good enough as proved the case November/December time. We should be starting this season with a bigger squad that has more quality in it...!
deemz
Tyler are you serious on Sven? Really? That guy has signed nearly all of those players from video evidence! Probably Youtube - even DJ x 2 looks good one there! Don't forget Maloney Gardner, Young and Carew are now bedded in. Reo Coker is a fantastic buy IMO
tarzan
One question to everyone who is bitching out there....would you be happy if by Saturday MON had signed a keeper (hopefully Jussi) and a right back (hopefully Hoyte or Rosenior) and then signed 2/3 other players by the close of the window? I assume most of you will say YES, so lets just wait until Friday evening and see what happens.
In MON we trust!
i think us buying very little is better than sven going nuts with new money. MON being cautious may frustrate the **** out of the fans, but surely he has the clubs best interest at heart. inmonwetrust makes a good point.
leftfoot
How many times have we heard this, of course if that happens we will be delighted but I doubt it will and Friday evening is a little late for the Lpool game. They should have been in playing together, learning our style. 1st it was the begining of the summer, then before pre season training, the launch of the new kit, before america, before the Inter game now its Friday night at 11.59pm. Come on we are now panicking thats why MON is starting to speak on the issue.
LITTLE 77
at least there are stories of Maloney going back to Celtic again, hooray.
Pking
I don't know if this has been said before, but do people think that we could possibly have a deal sorted for Scott Carson, but it won't happen until after the Liverpool game?
splatt
We may have gotten rid of the deadwood but we have only got 17 first team players, some of whom are not fit. This is not nearly enough We need a squad of 22 players who MON will all play.
notthedougellisstand
No one wants him to go bacto Celtic JUesus we dont need to lose anymore players or people will be calling our team Kate Moss or Nicole Ritchie
Christo
BBC Sport stating Everton have offered £10m for Yakubu, if they get him for £10m they have got an absolute bargain. Natural goalscorer, proven Premiership player. I know we may not need a forward but he would be a fastastic addition
notthedougellisstand
We could always stick him in goal if needed cos he is a big lad lol
notthedougellisstand
I want Yakubu but we never get anyone I want
Christo
I suggest we wait and see what happens between now and the end of August. Our first team looks to be fine for now. I would dare to suggest (based on what I've seen), the Baggies are wanting 12m for Davies plus sell on/and or appearnces, Bolton 6m for Jussi plus more if we finish above them/significant loyalty bonus (paid by us) and Arsenal 5m for Hoyte or just a loan deal. We go silly and offer twice that or buy unknown quantities.
tarzan
I dont think i'd pay that much for Hoyte so that means MON wont either
Christo
With MON leaving it so late we are going to find most players he tries to sign are going to be even more money as clubs will know that we are desperate and ask for silly amounts...!
deemz
Good point deemz
Dannygav
your right alot of managers out there will think were desperate and I think that they will think they have turned into used car salesmen
Christo
Sky Sports Website predicts we will finish 12th. Now if we did, i would be absolutely gutted. This could happen if we don't buy anyone else, and we get some key injuries! By the way, if anyone who's going to the Liverpool game does end up booing the team/manager, I would like to see you shot. Only bloody idiots boo their own team...not that it will happen hehe
ric112
I'm still reserving judgement on MON's "in-outs" achievements over this transfere window. None of know what has really gone on behind the scenes with players, agents and other club chairman these last few months. Fitzgerald was very naive to "shooting his mouth off", leading us to believe that a number of top-class players were in the bag. MON also was foolish to let players leave until replacements were secured. Whilst players are under contract they are servants of the Club and as professionals whether they want to leave is neither here nor there. MON may still get in the four players we desperately need (GK, RB x 2, and CB); if not he has made a major blunder and should be prepared to admit it publicly.
villacross
am hoping to get higher and higher
Christo
I'm still reserving judgement too. One quick question villacross assuming O'Neill has made a blunder what is the benefit of him admitting publicly? I'm not certain how that would help anyone?? Other than those who have been eagerly waiting for him to put a foot wrong to say 'I told you so'?? Seriously what would be the point??
darkade
darkade - I feel the fans deserve an explanation from MON when all the dust has settled. He's always been honest with us and I'm sure he big enough to "level" with us. I personally feel he has made a mistake in letting too many players go too soon but I wouldn't hold this against him. He's still one of the best managers out there and a superb tactician and motivator. He's still a top-man"
villacross
Shame on you Villa. You got us all excited.
evoflash
In a way I agree with you we do deserve an explanation and I think MON is probably honest enough to give us one. But I don't think there would be any benefit to him admitting he's made a blunder as it just gives those who might be against him ammunition to criticise whilst sowing seeds of doubt about his judgement/abilities in the mind of those who do support him fans and players. Just think it'd be a bit of a lose/lose situation. If anything I'd be satisfied if he just explained why certain deals have not materialized. Anyway still trying to maintan optimism I think our first 11 is good enough to keep us going til the end of the transfer window, just.
darkade
Gordon deal confirmed on OS for Sunderland.
evoflash
yeah i agree. he needs to come out and tell us what is going on. its driving a lot of us more crazy than we were before. he should wait til the window is closed though. i feel this cos the way he has hadled the window seems absolutely unbelievable. i can't fathom why he has done it like this.
ric112
*sticks tongue in cd player*

Gordon trained with the Black Cats earlier this week and had agreed to travel to Villa for talks, but Keane has persuaded him that his future lies at the Stadium of Light. Source... BBC.co.uk/football. So Who will we go for now in goal?
Newman
Newman-I feel we should stay as we are with Sorenson and Taylor till next year, unless, (most unlikely) that a top international GK wants to come to Villa. Our priorities are in the "back four" plus a top right-side attacking midfield player.
villacross
hi PKING, the forum is called 'who will villa sign part 9' so I'm just talking about his transfer dealings m8, on the pitch I'm happy, how long this can be kept up without new signings we'll have to wait and see, I remember being sold a completly different story before the season tickets went on sale, they said I was going to be amazed with the new signings, well they were right, "I'm f4kin amazed" so based on his transfer dealings he's been poor, he says no bidding wars, do you think the other clubs out there don't know that we've sold or got rid of 10 players! do you think they don't know we need players desperately! you can bet your 4rse they do and we're going to have to pay to get them! because we've been put in that position, and not by me or you!
eltoro
notthedougellis thinks we should sign yakubu even though we dont need another striker, we missed out paying £9M for a KEEPER and everyone seems gutted, I for one am very happy MON,s in charge not some of you lot. We have a good squad just need a few others before the end of the transfer window in 3 WEEKS. I reckon we will see a new keeper and a couple of right backs because MON says thats what he wants by the end of the window, I think we will probably pick up a few extra squad players right up to and at the deadline, so why dont you chill out and wait and see. I reckon Jussi and Davies next in and possibly Hoyte. "Just heard on SSN mon has said he has no cap on his funds available" so it looks like he just needs the right players now, at a sensible price? that want to move to villa park, and can overcome the only other obstacle in that they would be released by their current employers'.
HuntysVilla
Just a thought, the new shirt goes on sale tonight, I wonder how different it would have been if we'd signed someone big (snejder) it will be fun to see how many people have harwood on their shirt! and how much it costs in lost revenue
eltoro
Huntysvilla m8, a few others before the end of the transfer window, soory m8 we need players before saturday, you can trust MON all u want, I say he's *****ed up this time, we all knew we needed players 10 out 2 in, 3 days till kick-off not good mate
eltoro
I believe there will be no one in the Harewood que apart from clueless kids
Christo
eltoro we have a squad for the weekend that can do the biz, I dont trust any manager to get it right and why should MON be any different, the fact is the window closes in 3 weeks time, well long enough to get in a few good team players and a few squaddies that is my point, but I probably will be as ****ed of as you mate if we have to go to january without another 3 or 4 on side, but you have to admit a few on this site really r heading for a trip to the shrink they are that stressed.
HuntysVilla
I can't say I blame them m8 can u!
eltoro
Huntysvilla, I know that we are not going to sign Yakubu, just saying that I think he is a very good player and would be a good addition, I recognise that the defence and GK departments are of a more pressing need
notthedougellisstand
Im looking at who MON has bought in so far and can say i like the way it is looking, we bought young, one of the most promising england u21's, we have bought reo-coker who, from his displays so far is also looking like one of englands future stars. To me it looks like we are building a team for the future. Davies would be another great buy, young english and with loads of talent. I know this so far it is not looking so rosy with squad no's etc but do you honestly believe we wont fill in these gaps come end of august. If we sign 1 or 2 more young up and coming players, we will have the basis come 3 or 4 yrs for a damn good squad. There has been no comments coming out of VP and you know im greatful for that, way more professional then NQ at Sunderland and his big mouth. Cant say they have let me down with comments as there hasnt been any and i dont think at the moment there needs to be. Even if we have the bare bones as far as squad no's go atm it is a darn site better than it was 18 months ago, as far as facilities and atmophere surrounding VP. I dont see how keeping players who want to go is beneficial at all and agree with MON in what he is doing, disrupts stability which if he kept them on could lead to more players wanting away. OK so we dont have the players we want at the moment but i havent heard any contadicting statements out of VP as yet. MON has stated more players will come in before the window closes and i for one cant see that NOT happening can any of you ? Im just happy that the long term plan seems to be coming along nicely, give it 3 or 4 yrs and i can hope that we will be serious contenders for champions league spots, who knows. One life long Villa fan here who is looking at a brighter future than any of my previous 30 so far as the villa are concerned ( was too young to remember 81 ).
Villa in London
Villa in London, totally agree.
HuntysVilla
VillainLondon-I think you've missed the point that everyone is p***ed off about. We were told before "season ticket sales" that BIG NAMES would be comimg to VP. I was amazed to hear such a categorical statement and assumed that the deals had already been done (in principle) to bring in at least 3 or 4 top quality players. The fact that MON let players go at such a rapid rate also seemed to confirm that it would soon all happen. Great, Reo-Coker, but that was it, followed by god knows how many rumours, hardly any of which the Club denied. But where are we now? In my opinion you've got to be in dreamworld if you think it's all going to fall into place in the next 3 weeks. Otherwise can't you see why the AV website continues to carry the "don't worry about it - we're all reaching for the sky". They must think we're f****ng stupid. The whole episode has been a disgrace and whoever is responsible should be fired!
villacross
Thanks Villa in London. I needed to hear that matey! I feel a bit better now. I'm in London - are there any good Villa pubs down here?
evoflash
Ok all well said but the main point of all of this is we do not have the squad we should have. Last season the reason according to MON for the slump was lack of numbers. Reason we did not see the best of Petrov was because he did not have a full pre-season. Well MON we are in the same position. If we buy players before the end of August and we have a mid season slump, please Martin do not blame this on not having players on time, you Sir have created this. The squad should be in place, I can not believe a club the size and stature of ours seems so un prepared for the season. Again I ask the question do you think MON is happy if not, then we sould not be happy either.
LITTLE 77
ok eltoro i retract my last comment.
Pking
this is the thing, everyone keeps saying end of august, there's been more than enough time to get this right for kick-off, so the wait and see brigade dosen't wash with me, at the end of august we will have played 5 games, and could be in trouble by then, we have no RB and our no1 keeper is out! we've sold a good squad player in ridgewell and sold a v.good midfielder in davis any injuries in our back line could end our season before its begun. and on the last post I wasn't to young in '81' I remember it well, and every time since, we've failed to move on and it seems to be happening again!
eltoro
Villacross understand your frustrations but please no witch hunt against Martin
LITTLE 77
thats ok mate
eltoro
My concern is that the players we have are getting restless. We have already heard the Barry and Cahill stae how surprised they are at the lack of signings. If we don't get the players we need b4 the end of August (and to be honest that is a possibility given MON's lethargy in the market to date) these same players ie Carew will themselves be queing up to leave. It's not good enough to say the window closes in August. No one on this site expected any of this. Villa in London it was quite clearly stated that players would be signed and that we would be excited by the new arrivals. Today MON is saying he is quite happy to go into the first game of the season with the squad he has. What if Taylor and Laursen are injured in the first ten minutes of the match on Saturday?? How much will the replacements be then? Our over 35's squad is bigger than Villa's for heavens sake! No the time has come to ask questions. I have been patient all summer waiting for quality new arrivals. I pay my money and have a right, now, to say MON has let me down as a supporter. The arguement for the 31st of Auguat doesn't stack up. Most teams only use this period if they have picked up injuries or a particularly good player comes onto the market in which case you pay way over the odds. The club is not showing the punters the respect we deserve. I will wait and see what happens between now and the end of the week. I nothing happens then I can truthly say that MON and the board have done a poor job regards the tansfer policy this summer. Sorry for the ramble
myleftfoot
myleftfoot Sir you are spot on, just saying oh everything will be allright, will not make it happen. We should question MON and he should give us answers, it still our club people!!
LITTLE 77
Villacross dont assume every one is as miniminded as you not everyone is getting as wound up as you, but back to your point who should be fired then?
HuntysVilla
PS I don't care if Randy has a tattoo - it's our club - we are the guys that are left behind when the *****e hits the fan.
myleftfoot
I starting to get angry - I'll just go for a cold shower. Who know we may have signed John Burridge when I'm finished
myleftfoot
myleftfoot, better under ellis then?
HuntysVilla
LITTLE77 - I principally blame Fitzgerald for "shooting-off" his mouth like a naive, used car salesman. Obviously knows little about football deailngs and how it is almost impossible to attract top quality players to a non-European competing club, especially north of Watford. I don't personally feel that MON carries any of the blame. He's always tempered our ambitions for European football with caution and patience. I think his strategy is excellent by investing now in top-quality youngsters both from the UK, Europe and the USA. I would be over-the-moon if we can also get Hoyte from Arsenal and coupled to Davies from WBA that would satisfy me for this window. Harewood was obviously a straight replacement for Sutton. Again in my opinion, he's let a few players go too prematurely (eg McCann, Ridgewell, Hughes and Samuel). I accept we need better qualith but why sell until we've got their replacements. They might not be happy staying but they're under contract and the Club comes first not overpaid the players. And surely we're not relying on making economies by releasing them, so why do it so prematurely? Except for these two b****cks, I'm a happy "bunny" and I just hope we thrash Liverpool on Saturday. UP THE VILLA.
villacross
Huntsysvilla this better under Ellis is a silly argument of course we dont want Ellis back but we can question, just because I dont think MON has done a good job in the transfer market does not mean I want him sacked. However you should not have the opinion that because the manager has said it, it must be right. Answer honestly do you think the summer transfer window has been acceptable
LITTLE 77
OK villacross I accept what you say but may I add that MON has said on a few occassions that Randy has let him deal with the transfers, if this is true and MON is telling the truth, then the only one to blame is MON? I too think certain members of the board have been very silly with some statements, lets hope they learn, quickly. Yes the players we have and the young players are very good, top marks to the academy, but in reality we should not be in this position with no RB etc,etc so close to the start of the season.
LITTLE 77
jeez this is making a divide bewteen all of us! i cant believe it. K we are all gutted that gordon signed for the wrong team. can we at least worry after the 31st? i think we can sukerpuch the scouse and win.
Eaton_thevillafan
We were all over the moon on Saturday with the performance.Ill be happy as long as we get some more quality in b4 Sep 1st.Of course everyone has a right to be *****ed off with the lack of activity but I think were all a bit too negative. On the Celtic site their fans said things about MoN leaving it all summer then loads of activity on the last day.The guy does transfers like this and he'll never change no matter how stupid it is.
Pking
agreed pking.
Eaton_thevillafan
HuntysVilla -what does "miniminded" mean? Did you make that up all by yourself? Are you any related to "C***tysVilla? -that famous middle-east "Vital" website?
villacross
villacross, glad to see you are almost starting to the see the light, see its not all doom and gloom in the real light of the day, see you sat. villa to win 3-1, Sneider scores in the 89th minute cracking goal. possibly???
HuntysVilla
I couldn't have said it better myself MYLEFTFOOT,
eltoro
Just one more thing about the Gordon deal, there was a guy on the radio a few minutes ago that said he wasn't sure if Villa even had an offer accepted for him and that he would have been offered way more money at Sunderland.I seem to remember MoN trying to implement a wage structure and performance related payments and bonuses a few months ago and I dont think that has anything to do with Randy being tight.I think this is all Mon idea.
Pking
LITTLE 77 - If MON gets the 2 players I mentioned earlier ie Davies (or Hangeland) plus a RB as good as Hoyte by 31st August, MON will get 10 out of 10 in my book, whether he gets another keeper or not. We'll then have a squad of 22, "lean and mean" with no "dead-wood" (the first time for as long as I can remember) - so just watch us shoot up that table. See you at the FA Cup Final next year? - but I hope we've then got a Chief Executive who knows something about the industry that he's working in!
villacross
We dont desperatley need a keeper
Pking
well maybe just a 3rd keep but am sure Taylor will do fine oh wait he is injured aswell
Christo
HuntysVilla -Sorry you didn't appreciate and understand my little joke but you are very sensitive aren't you? And also a little rude for a true Villa supporter, Sorry, I probably shouldn't have said that. You'll get upset again. UP THE VILLA
villacross
Shaun Maloney could be a Celtic player again tomorrow - well, if a report in the Evening Times is to be believed. Why tomorrow? Because that's when the player registration deadline is for the third-round qualifying stage of the Champions League, and Celtic are desperate to beat Spartak Moscow and reach the Group Stage. Whether Maloney would make a difference is debatable, but that is the reason the Evening Times have given. According to the report, "Celtic have continued to work behind the scenes to make the move happen" and "...the push is on to get everything in place ahead of this crucial signing deadline."
villacross
villacross, chill out i never get upset i just reply accordingly, not rude just very proactive in response, true villa supporter i will always be, perhaps you really do need a reality check?
HuntysVilla
Your right about maloney, cant see MON letting him go, but its heavy in the press
HuntysVilla
Scott Carson, the England Under-21 goalkeeper, is expected to join Aston Villa on a season-long loan today after Liverpool reluctantly bowed to his wish to pursue his international ambitions. Manchester City are also in the frame, but Carson was leaning towards a move to Villa last night in the hope of securing a place in the England squad, with Liverpool set to sign Charles Itandje from Lens as his replacement.
villacross
I am of really mixed emotions here - yes we missed out on Gordon but reading his interview he talks about desire to move to the Premiership more than Sunderland in specific. It makes me think that we COULD have had him - maybe MON prefers and has lined up Jussi or Carson, maybe he didnt like a 'big 4' release clause rumoured to be in his contract or maybe he plain didnt want to spend £9m on the guy. I dont know!!! But I sat back and thought ''Why sell Samuel/Hughes/Ridgewell/McCann/Davis unless he has others lined-up''!! I am VERY willing to wait until 31st August but what I do have reservations about is the record season ticket sales. I am not a season ticket holder as I am from N.I. but make it over when I can. I just want to ask the season ticket holders on this forum "Do you feel let down?". Had I lived im Birmingham I would have got a season-ticket too with all the promises made. Now I think that they have not met the fundamental need for fans - a 'team' that can sustain a challenge on the top 6 and good cup runs. (In case this sounds too negative - I love the way the club is run 'behind-the-scenes' etc. etc., in fact my ONLY complaint is the lack of depth in the current squad.) But it is almost as if fans have bought their season tickets expecting a lot more by now. I still trust that players will come but the actions do not match to the words e.g. MON says that he doesnt want to pay too high for players. Based on Davis being sold for £4m as an example - a player who was not first XI for next season and didnt particularly want to stay was in the same situation as NRC and Harewood were with West Ham. Were they worth £8.5m and £4m??? I dont think so. Is Petrov a £8m player, was Young worth £8-9.5m?? I am glad we signed them but why not go that bit extra with others?? Could we have got Drenthe, Sneijder, Davies, Jaaskelinan, Haangeland, Wright-Phillips (a) for a little more money?? (b) Did we even go for them??? I hope the answers are (a) NO and NOT YET BUT WORKING ON IT!!!!! Sorry if this sounds a bit rambing but it is a confusing time!!! Roll on midnight Aug 31st!!
deano.avfc
If thats true villacross it means that we musnt have made the final offer for Gordon as I talk about above. But why not a permanent move......how about this...maybe the £9m is earmarked for someone else - please let it be Sneijder (as well as 2xRB and a CB)!!! All will be forgiven!!!
deano.avfc
HuntysVilla - Our respective definitions of rudeness seem poles apart; or do you consider referring to a fellow Villa fan as a "pea-brained, low-life gutter snipe" is not rude? If so, I'll accept your apology otherwise goodbye.
villacross
i'd be pleased with carson on loan - he is quality. maybe it would be good in the sense that MON can have another 11-12 months to decide on who he is willing to spend 'a wee bit of money' on. It could 'bode well' for us. Don't worry deano, this is the place to ramble. This is where we find comfort and security in the shared despair of other villa fans. Its nice to know you are not alone in your torment.
ric112
I am feeling a little better after getting that off my chest!!! Now I am positive again and this that this is an O'Neill masterstroke Carson on loan then when January comes - if he is enjoying it and doing well make an offer (like Wigan did with Kirkland) if not we get a pre-contract agreement for Jaaskelinan to join when his contract runs out. Perfect!! MON we salute you!! Mackems - you are welcom to Craig Gordon!!! We now have Englands future Number 1!!! Oh my my - time for bed!!!
deano.avfc
Never boring is it!!!!
deano.avfc
but seriously, we should start talking bout politics til we sign a player. this is so repetitive. even what i just said has been said so many times...what about this foot and mouth then ay??? anyone effected?
ric112
Deano.avfc - I think we're all confused and I can empathise with everything that you say. I'm sure many other fans are of the same view. Unfortunately the Board stupidly raised our expectations far too high, expecting that waving Randy's cheque book would be sufficient. No doubt it will all become clearer as time goes by but at least it's much better now than last year after the player's thretened strike action!
villacross
huntysvilla -"myleftfoot, better under ellis then?" - well well theres an original statement. Read what I said and if there is anything that you disagree with let me know. I do think MON is the right man for the job I just don't think he has handled the transfere window very well.
myleftfoot
myleftfoot - I agree entirely. MON hasn't handled the window well at all in my opinion. But he does describe himself as an "old-school manager" which suggests he is tight with the money. As commendable as this is, it may be his downfall - but I genuinely hope not, he proves us all wrong and gets the players in that we need to continue the progress.
villacross
myleftfoot, think i must have interpreted your post wrong "I don't care if Randy has a tattoo - it's our club - we are the guys that are left behind when the *****e hits the fan" I wrongly assumed that you meant that the current regime was possibly only in for the short term, and that as villa fans we have had it better in the past. Three weeks to go before we judge this transfer window, lets keep the jury out until then, cheers M8.
HuntysVilla
How about we let Jlloyd Samuel Gavin McCann Lee Hendrie Robert Olejnik Stephen Henderson Aaron Hughes Steven Davis Chris Sutton The Djemba Twins go and just get two from West Ham?
col8
found a very recent quote from MON; make up yr own minds: "On one occassion I thought a fee had changed to a rather exorbitant amount, so i gave up. Then in recent times the club involved had another think about it and suddenly its something we can look at again."
leftfoot
good post col8, how many though played last season 1st team or should have played in your view? who would you have kept as a squad player for the coming season? I would have kept ridgewell and Davis.
HuntysVilla
looks like we may have Carson on loan as liverpool look like signing the lens keeper idjante? someone we were linked with. its a complicated game. nice call deano.avfc!
leftfoot
I hope the Carson rumour is true but who knows? I'm not even sure whether we were in for Gordon. MON could have been referring to Jussi when sayin' "On one occassion I thought a fee had changed to a rather exorbitant amount, so i gave up. Then in recent times the club involved had another think about it and suddenly its something we can look at again."
myleftfoot
Carson will be a great loan signing but am not sure if he can beat TS and ST for first choice yet
Christo
According to the Daily Star we've bid £3m for Jussi.
Jon.H
Stop going on about Ridgewell. He plays for Blues. Remember them?
evoflash
People go on about letting Jlloyd Samuel, Gavin McCann, Lee Hendrie, Robert Olejnik, Stephen Henderson, Ridgewell, Aaron Hughes, Steven Davis, Chris Sutton, The Djemba twins, and Angel go, but out of that lot the only players that figured were McCann, Davis, Sutton - but injured, Davis, and even Hughes couldnt get a game because of Bardsley. On paper looks like we have lost 9, really the way I look at it McCann and Davo were the only ones consistently in the squad, the rest were DEADWOOD and not good enough!!!!!
Stig
Yea but I dont think he should of got rid of all the no hopefuls until we had a bigger squad though but I can see where he is going by getting rid of them its better then paying wages for guys who wont take us up
Christo
If we are looking at paying £3 million for Rosenior from Fulham it would just confirm to me that we sold Davis on the cheap at only £4 million. I must say though that i like Rosenior as a player and he would be a good addition to the squad.
deemz
I still believe we will pick up the following players by close of the transfer window.....Jussi, Rosenior, Hoyte, Davies, Taylor and 'm going to throw one out there.....Eidur Gudjohnsen! I would be more than happy with that squad! Then let Taylor go and Osbourne on loan. I'm wasted in my job!
In MON we trust!
Stig thats what i've been saying - getting rid of 5 or 6 players that aren't good enough to play for the club, and that the manager won't play, isn't the same as reducing your squad by 5 or 6 good players.
The Usual Suspect
Surely, if we don't sign a keeper or RB by close of play today, our starting 11 will be the following for Saturday....Taylor, Gardner, Melberg, Laursen, Bouma, Gabby, Reo, Barry, Pretrov, Young and Carew....Bevan, Cahill, Berger, Maloney, Moore.
In MON we trust!
Other than having Gardner out of position i dont see anything wrong with that team.Ok taylor may not be everyones cup of tea but our number one is injured and that could happen at anytime so thats why we have a backup. He seemed to play well enough against Inter? If we buy in 5 more players before the end of August will any of them demand an automatic starting place?possibly the RB and goalkeeper. We do have a good team ,good enough to compete against anyone in the league we just need quality on the bench and they will come soon.Im gettin excited about the return of the prem thank the lord its been a long hard summer!!!!!
sk1nner80
I dont think we will sign a right back to be honest
Christo
u kidding me? we gotta sign a right back and we will
ric112
What ever?!
In MON we trust!
jesus, is it jussi or carson? personally I choose Jussi all day long
eltoro
Liverpool have signed another keeper, so Carson is on the way Pity he can't play on Saturday! I'm sure he will be between the sticks on Wednesday though.
In MON we trust!
we could end up with both Carson and Jussi! Ha! or loan Carson, get Jussi on a free next season. but really i am with inmonwetrust! whatever. its all become a little boring and lets play football with what we got, whatever! that is. myleftfoot, i wonder if MON's quote was about Davies?
leftfoot
next summer we will get Jussi and Wesley on free's
Christo
Big fat **** goaty Rafa has confirmed that if the deal with the Lens keeper goes through by midnight tonight, Carson can some to us. If we get a right back by close of play tomorrow, I'll be satisfied for the time being.
In MON we trust!
if we end up doing nothing this season CHRISTO, it will be very difficult to get jussi and wesley next summer, as 12 months in football is a long time, if another club get into Europe and they fancy those 2, they will have first shout, leaving us in the **** again
eltoro
I don't see the benefit of a loan keeper (Carson) he says he has to move on from Liverpool to play more games to boost his chances of England success, that must mean he will be No1 at Villa, because Man City want him too and he would be No1 there, he would also not be allowed to play against Liverpool on Saturday, and if Liverpool don’t find a replacement by midnight tonight (Champions league deadline) then he won’t be here for 3 weeks, by then Thomas should be back, going on what I saw at the U21's I don't think any of you can say he's better than Thomas, and I can't see the benefit of our No1 keeper having to sit on the bench for a loan signing! And in 12 months or shorter if Liverpool have any injuries, he's going back ,and don't give me the b4ll4cks that it will give MON time to sort out a new keeper, this means Jussi's not coming and that = bad news, it's over 12 months now since I voiced my concerns over Bardsley ( I can't remember who it was that gave me a mouthful, but you know who you are) it went something like this ' you've no idea what your f4kin talking about eltosso, this will give MON time to sort out a proper right back' - well, to whoever you are, we're 2 days from kick-off and over 56 weeks later and we still have no right back, so I'll take that as 1 nil to me, if this guy who Liverpool are going to buy to replace Carson is good enough for them, then why are we not going in for him if he's one of the keepers we were interested in, does this mean we have no cash! it just doesn’t add up for me.
eltoro
Lens have confirmed that Liverpool have signed their keeper, so as long as he is registered by midnight, Carson is ours. Just need a right back now!
In MON we trust!
lol dont put any negative thoughts into my head Eltoro
Christo
eltoro - it could be that jussi has a verbal agreement with MON to join us next year on a free. Ya never know.
The Usual Suspect
I heard that Real Madrid would sign Sneijder(Sp) or Robben, so we have no chance. Although im not sure we had one in the first place tbh!
villian82
sneijder really would be living the dream
The Usual Suspect
verbal agreement! this is 2007 m8 not 1977, money talks not agreements
eltoro
Makes me wanna cry I'd love to see someone like Sneijder in a Villa shirt and thats never gonna happen
Christo
yeah it will, give it a few years, just be patient
ric112
The way im looking at it is - if Red scouse dont sign this french keeper by the 11th hour then i think we will bid for Jussi and have im in permantley. either way we are gonna get a keeper - just a RB and a CB to soothe the nerves now.
Eaton_thevillafan
19 year old Arsene Menessou on trial with us, is not yet returning to his French club. The 19 year old right back is currently on the books of Le Harve. He played at the Bescot stadium on Wednesday night. Did anyone see his performance? Think he'll have the No2 shirt on Saturday?
villacross
He wasn't that good from what I heard and we was poor at Ipswich I dont think MON should of gone after him to be honest or people are gonna think what were more desperate then they thought
Christo
Christo-I don't understand the reference "we was poor at Ipswich..."
villacross
He was poor at Ipswich I mean
Christo
I'm sorry to say christo, we are desperate, everyone go and read what the Liverpool fan had to say!
eltoro
getting Carson on loan 2 days before K.O. smacks of desperation when we've had over 3 months, this has nothing to do with thomas being injured, its a replacement, Thomas will be next out the door he's never going to play second fiddle to a loan keeper
eltoro
I just can't seem to help myself tonight, here's another rant! there's no way we've been on the trail of this guy Rosenior from fulham, if he aint good enough for them then he sure has f4ck aint good enough for us, and 3 mill, please stop its doing my **** head in, I'm sticking by my view that big b4ll4cks have been dropped at villa if this guy comes in, scraping the bottem of the barrel or what! I would rather the team stay as it is than just buying players to cover up for mistakes.
eltoro
Ok, I have been very critical of MON and his transfer dealings but its Thursday night now and the season starts Saturday so I guess its time to get behind the team and MON. Read the mail, and hope what he says happens. So come on Villa and Martin give us a wave, Martin, Martin give us a wave!!!!
LITTLE 77
Yea we should just concentrate on the team on the pitch and just forget the window. If we forget the window we might start signing some players
Christo
eltoro mate seriously chill out. You're beginning to sound like you're ready to do yourself damage! The window thus far has been disappointing, but i'm glad MON's got rid of the crepe he inherited. Were you there on saturday? We have a well organised team, working for each other and playing nice stuff on the ground. Now for a few more faces before 31 Aug.
The Usual Suspect
Has anyone seen the team photo, nearly more staff than players, what a farce
notthedougellisstand
notthedougellis yep a farce it is but we are just talking about the same thing instead lets talk about how our forward line are gonna rip Liverpool apart
LITTLE 77
OS says that O' Neill plans to wrap up the Loan signing of Carson within the next 24 hours. Yeah
Dannygav
Were the underdogs and this is the type of story that happens in movies. Now I wonder hmm
Christo
I was there TUS m8 and I was happy with the result, not sure how up for it inter were, the real test starts soon, it's all this paper talk its doing my head in m8, its like we're some sort of freak show!
eltoro
Can Carson play right back?
PBAVFC
leftfoot - this is my point. The media, as usual, put 2 an2 together and came up with Gordon. Th irony is I don't think Sunderland would have come back in for him if they didn't believe Villa were also bidding. Personally I 9 mill for an untried keeper is a bit steep when at less than half the price a keeper like Jussi becomes availbale - mute point now tho. - Carson on loan with no chance of signing him - not really all that excited about this one strangely enough. I would be excited if we signed a new CB, RB, LB.
myleftfoot
eltoro - calm down - u have made your point, I think. Yes, and it wasn't me either - so get rid of that thought!
myleftfoot
Carson will come if Bolton do not accept the Jussi bid, which is 50/50 in my opinion. Good options if you ask me. both alot better than Gordon or Tommy. We offered 6mil for Gordon but Sunderland started a bidding war, which ended with us pulling out idiots hope they go down. Any other England U21 players coming our way?
KSarge1
We will use Carson and come Jan window get permision to speak to Jussi then we have a pre contract with him(last 6 months of contract) then since pool wont sell Carson we ship him off at end of season bring in jussi. That way we do have an improvement in the GK position just not an ideal situation.Conspiricy time now is Tommy s really injured??????
sk1nner80
who cares - I just amazed at that sea of black in the team photo, not to mention all the glum faces
myleftfoot
Bobo Balde from Celtic. You can see it coming.
glensider
eltoro I hear you about Rosenior - but he is young and English - as is Hoyte. Either or both could be very good. I am just worried about the link to Danny Mills!!!!!!!! Dear oh dear!! I am not being greedy at this stage CARSON, BOSWINGA, HOYTE and DAVIES would be enough!!
deano.avfc
MILLS - your having me on,...... aren't you?
myleftfoot
I would take a fully fit Mills at this minute in time.
KSarge1
jesus deano.avfc MILLS please stop i cant take much more, i'm going to end up sectioning myself
eltoro
Right thats it now I'm going to do what LITTLE 77 suggests and just get on with the season, and get behind martin and the boys, it starts tomorrow and thats all we've been waiting for, I'm going to be positive till jan, so I just want to say thanks to everyone for the banter and the laugh, and for getting me through this summer, I nearly went off the rails a couple of times, but feeling good now! (the straps across my bed are getting comfier) so let's all have a good season, and here's to the next 9 months. GO ON THE VILLA, oh and just before I go, I don't want to start another argument but I have to say my management skills are far superior to the rest of you, as I will prove in the vital villa fantasy league :)
eltoro
Well putting the transfer problems to one side. Time for everyone to put their differences aside and make sure we make some serious noise at VP tomorrow. Lets give the guys from Setanta an atmosphere to remember for their first game. Come on you Villa boys !!
notthedougellisstand
Why is everyone freaking ovber the Rosenior RUMOUR, he is another of the U21 squad as already mentioned, room to improve and silly ,money is being paid for some foreign players totally unproven in this league, this boy has been around for 2 seasons or so everyone gets *****ed off that the club have released sold so many yet all start jumping up and down saying we don't want him but we want him instead... just chill ffs.
fatloser
You Can't Sign Anyone Cos West Sham And Pompey Sign Em' All....!
horseworrier
We need a world class player... Will MON bring any more in before the close of the Window?
avfc40
Saw this on an American site, previewing Villa's chances next season. It made me chuckle heartily: "Why they could drift down the table: If the matches where they got draws last season turn to losses and some of the wins turn to draws then Villa could be fighting for their life next spring."
ric112
We also need a permanent top class keeper... SORENSEN PAST HIS SELL BY DATE... KEEPER SHOULD NO. 1 PRIORITY. RandyLernerfan.
avfc40
Wesley Sneijder to Real madrid for £20m. Oh well. We might sign him when he can't settle and isn't getting a game every week.
Quania
Carson deal is done....if we get Hoyte or Rosienier, Davies and Matty Taylor, I'll be more than happy with the squad until January.....best starting 11 and bench since I can remember....Carson, Hoyte/Rosienier, Mellberg, Laursen, Taylor, Gabby, Barry, Reo, Petrov, Young, Carew.....Sorenson, Davies, Berger, Maloney, Moore......leaving Gardner, Harewood, Osbourne, Delaney not even in the squad!
In MON we trust!
I hope your joking about Wesley
Christo
Hes not Christo - Sneijder to Real Madrid for $24m as well as Drenthe. Obviously had no chance of getting these boys!!! I agree with In MON we trust! about two more signings from Davies/Hoyte/Taylor/Rosenoir. With Harewood, Reo-Coker, Carson and Forrester they are all english. The young American centre-back was from our US contacts. BUT all season we were told about Storey-Moore scouting the whole of Europe for talent. WHERE ARE THEY?? It would be nice to have a few exciting prospects from Europe like the scums De Ridder and Blackburns Riegters to look forward to seeing!!
deano.avfc
That has broken my heart about Sneijder I would of loved someone like him playing for the club and no that will never happen ughhh I need cheering up.
Christo
Had my tea leafs read today and the shriveld old hag told me that a peanut will make my day. Itake it Harewood will come on second half and score the winner!
sk1nner80
Now that would be really funny if that happened on sunday
Christo
Cant wait.
sk1nner80
Whats the team for tomorrow then guys? 4-4-2 or 4-3-3? S taylor,Mellberg,Cahill,Laursen,Bouma,Barry,Coker,Petrov,Young,Gabby and Carew. Think i would rather have Mellberg on the right than adapting a Midfielder to fit in.Saying that Gardener seems to be able to run all day and would certainly get forward.
sk1nner80
Cant someone ban that Blue Nose please he makes one Aaron Lennon look like a saint
Christo
Ive got to say, thats more posts from a bluenose this summer than on there own sight. but tapping slate doesn,t get you too far. Keep dragging the knuckles nobhead!!!!
silkie villain
cant wait to seal them in the championshp again
Christo
Has anyone seen Transformers yet? First f&ckin class!!!!
PBAVFC
Taylor, Bouma Cahill(RB) Laursen Mellberg. Barry Young Reo Petrov. Carew Moore.

Think Gabby will get the nod over luke, but lets be honest its hardly the most difficult team to choose from!
silkie villain
I've seen the scum transform from the premiership to championship, thats first **** class:)

haddock and chips, how fitting for a knukle dragging tramp on a friday night, suprised he didnt treat himself to a cat burger from big johns.

I wonder if that Bluenose was the guy that was on Britans Fattest Man.

if his nose is blue i wonder where he has been sticking it. put Gardner at right back.
leftfoot
interesting rumour connecting us with Fabizio Collocini of Depotivo. centre-back?, tough, bit hard to manage apparently.
leftfoot
Hmmm blue nose?? Maybe he has been sticking it in one of those toilets they have on planes
Christo
Who let the five fingered web footed blue nose on? 'oh look, i'm in the prem for a season again better make the most of it!' yeah enjoy it while it lasts i'll give you that and it won't last long with spade faced bruce in charge. Bye bye blue noses when the seasons done you'll be gone and with you your *****e supporters back to the depths of the championship. YOUR ARE MY GHALY MY HOSSAM GHALY YOU MAKE ME HAPPY WHEN SKIES ARE GREY! YOU DIDN'T LIKE RUNNIN YOU WENT FOR MONEY OH DON'T YOU TAKE MY GHALY AWAY! YOU ARE MY GHALY, MY HOSSAM GHALEY!

Wait - scum have signed 10 players this transfer window so far? does steve bruce hot have enough confidence with the squad that brought them up in the 1st place? - cant wait - gabbys gonna *****in run right through them
Eaton_thevillafan
what the ***** was i on last night? i meant 5 thumbed inbred. No more house vodka for me. Anyway the sentiment was there. I'm off to purchase a card slot freeview machine, to put on top of my cardless freeview machine. Why you cant phone up for a connection i'll never know.
villain76
I now Brucie dont have much confidence in the new owner because he said he will quit if the new owner pics his teams and tells him who to buy
Christo
that was a strange thing to say
Pking
how come
Christo
their owner must have said something to Bruce because he wouldn't say something like that out of the blue.
Pking
yea might of done looks like Brmingham are gonna be like Hearts in Jokeland
Christo
nice start for Spuds there :-) I knew we should have signed McShane he was awsome,Sunderland were great.
Pking
MJy dad wouldn't let me watch it but am glad Spurs lost and am not happy no one scored past Gordon
Christo
Great news for those that live in Australia, every premier league game is going to be shown live on pay TV. that means i get to watch every villa game this year. i only just found out, and im that excited that i had to tell somone.
liamo1981
Great news for you and ive been allowed Setanta
Christo
Weve looked quite solid at the back Id give Gardner a 10 out of 10 and Taylor has been great but this has been a disgraceful performance.
Pking
How far has the ref got his dick up the A***'* of Liverpool
Christo
The ref has dug Liverpool out of a very large hole today
Pking
Hurts doesn't it. I don't come here to cause trouble but maybe eltoro should wait before coming on Vital Spurs and spouting his rubbish.
OneAaronLennon
Long time since you have been on here
Christo
To be fair it doesn't hurt quite as bad as being beat by Sunderland, had a nice day have you?
Pking
I think we were that hopeless up till we got our penalty there were no positives to take from the game really,at least now we can say we was robbed, should spur us on for the next game.
Pking
Been a terrible day. Although the injuries did not help us I am not going to use them as an excuse. Jol is a brilliant man manager but not a tactical genius in the mould of Jose, Sir Alex or Arsene. The team selection was a f***ing joke and once Berbatov had been taken off I felt not to continue watching. All credit to Sunderland though, they deserved it. The fact is that we were abysmal today and their defending was top class. Restricting the likes of Berbatov, Defoe, Keane and Bent to no shots was brilliant on Sunderland's part. In all fairness though, Liverpool were the better team.
OneAaronLennon
Opening day fixtures what you gonna do?I dont know what was the story with Spurs today,Sunderladnd were orginised brilliaintly then with about 15 mins left yez were panicking and yez were always gonna struggle then.Kaboul looked good though.
Pking
As were Sunderland
Dannygav
MoN looks *****ed off the guy is great entertainment,at least thats one of the top 4 out of the way.I think we might get it together 4 next week.
Pking
quite right at least we lost to a team that might win the premiership not Republic of Sunderland
Christo
wham got a bad defeat by citeh aswell, our game with Newcastle is gonna be so important now.

Eaton_thevillafan
Oh god were gonna lose
Christo
CURTIS DAVIES to sign next week from Albion. As usual just have to agree the add ons with deal almost done. I would take Robinson off then aswell as left back cover.
tarzansbrother
Quiet day for transfer rumours. I really think we need at least three more players. Although Gardner played well against Liverpool, we need two RBs. I also think we need a CB. I think Davies may be the CB and Hoyte on loan may be the RB.
notthedougellisstand
coker and petrov were pants, where were the tackles reo?????????? way to much respect given. also yesterday just highlighted how paper thin our squad is, the gap between us and liverpool, or any of the top 5 is massive in terms of depth, oneill needs to GET PLAYERS IN NOW! a few injuries and we are bang in trouble.
Stig
Give Reo a break, his first game for the club but as for Petrov hes been with us a whole season and in my view has run out of excuses. The boy has no heart, constantly pulling out of tackles and headers ponsing about the pitch and cannt pass the ball. Can anyone tell me what Petrov's role is and once youve told me maybe we should pass it on to him.
melbourne holte ende
Luke Moore linked with Baggies today. I hope it is bull but I can see it being perhaps a loan for the season as part of the Davies deal. Hope not - he should be first XI. I would go 4-4-2 with it almost a 4-2-4 formation with Young and Gabby on the wings pushing up like Giggs/Ronaldo with two 'sitting' midfielders passing it forward - NRC and Barry. Then little and large up front with Moore and Carew. We looked much better when Young and Gabby went wide but if Petrov is going to be anonymous we might as well use Luke Moore up front!!!
deano.avfc
Another thing - why is Moore still have MOORE L. 8 on his shirt - Stefan left ages ago!!!! I will be a dad for the first time soon and as my surname is Moore I wanted an infant kit for him/her and have MOORE 8 on the back - now have to convince the missus to call the child Luke or Louise for that 'authentic' look!! haha
deano.avfc
tarzansbrother - how do you know curtis will sign nxt week?
Eaton_thevillafan
spouting rubbish! what was rubbish, said it like it was OAL, if you can't take a bit of criticism, you know where the door is!
eltoro
Eltoro, "saying it as it is" is sometimes not the way to go, especially after you make the effort to come to Vital Spurs just after we lost our first game of the season. Just remember, every time I came to Vital Villa and "said it as it was", someone wanted my head on a plate!!!
OneAaronLennon
Don't get me wrong, if it was Villa that beat Spurs yesterday then you have every right to come to Vital Spurs and rub it in, as we would do the same. But saying "now that was funny" because Sunderland beat us will only slightly get on our nerves. Let's save it for when our two clubs meet shall we.
OneAaronLennon
OneAaronLennon, a few weeks ago you were slagging off the villa on your site from comments made from who you thought was a villa fan but it was a dumb ass from glasgow dont come on here sitting on the fence with the pretence that you want dialogue, your team was crap against sunderland we were not better against the pool, but dont think we give a s**it if "we get on your nerves" who are ya!!!!
HuntysVilla
HuntysVilla, let's just say that I could have said alot worse. I am not going to lie, I thought it was a Villa fan as there is a Villa fan with a similar name. But I didn't come to Vital Villa to say it, did I?
OneAaronLennon
Now I am got going to resort to what Eltoro did, as it is something I would expect my 9 year old nephew to do - "Haha, you're team lost", it's idiotic really, two can play at that game. If I wanted to I can come here and p*** you lot off after you just lost, but I am not going to as I know that losing is enough in itself, you don't need someone coming and taking the p***. All I want you to see is that it is pointless really.
OneAaronLennon
Calm down ladies! Both our respected clubs got beat in the last few minutes and it just ain't nice! Anyhow, Ashley Young on the left doesn't seem to work as well as it should. I'd rather he was on the right swinging in the crosses with Gabby, who can't cross for toffee, coming in and running into the box from the left. It was noticable when Gareth went left back and swung a couple of dangerous balls with his left peg. Ash has to check back and that gave the scouse defenders too much time to set themselves!
Rawlie
welcome back OAL - life was getting a tad boring
myleftfoot
Damn it! This is a complete disgrace! How could the club miss out on Sneijder? I can't believe the club would allow such a great player to slip through our hands and sign for such minnows as Real Madrid. I for one am disgusted with the whole thing and feel completely let down! I just can't believe the club have let all the fans down in this way. The trustworthy and not in the slightest bit lazy, Great British press, in their esteemed knowledge of the game and Martin O'Neill's transfer targets, assured us he was a legitimate prospect! I will burn my new Nike Villa shirt outside the ground at the earliest opportunity.
Rawlie
Maybe looking into it too much but was intertesting to see Hoyte, Davies and Rosienier all left out of their respective squads at the weekend? Hoyte you can maybe understand but Rosienier and Davies? Saying that, they could both have been injured? Anyone spread any light?
In MON we trust!
I see on the OS taht they are rolling out quotes that MON made last week about signings. I wish they would just hurry up and get the quality players MON keeps referring to into the team.
notthedougellisstand
listen OAL, if you're going to spend all pre-season sticking your chest out and preening your feathers, telling everyone your on for 4th place, then you lose to a championship side, you have to take the banter, the difference was I didn't think for one minute we were capable of beating liverpool, so it was no shock that we lost, on the other hand it was a shock that you did (and you lost me £40, on a spurs win single) I also said in that post, that wasn't the spurs side that will finish next season and I still take you to finish top 5, your a very good side, but jesus chill out m8, what I like about the Man.U fans is they take the stick knowing their team will do the talking on the field, I suggust you to take the stick that comes when you have a very good side, which was just banter' and get on with things, don't give it the mouth if you can't take the stick that come's with losing, you can act as grown up as you like, but at the end of the day it was YOU that came on the Villa web page way back, spouting of about Villa targets from spurs, I remember you acting very childish with your mouth! pssin off the entire site, over time we've built up abit of a raport with you, so if your still going to be funny about things, telling people your 9yr old nephew wouldn't have done that, then dont come back m8 I won't lose any sleep, and I don't bet for 1 minute that you don't give your mate's stick when there side lose, so, to finish, I'm sorry I upset you, I had know idea how fragile you were, but please less of the grown up remarks and think back!
eltoro
this thread has lost its objectivity
Stig
Eltoro, if you can find me one time I have come to Vital Villa and said something along the lines of "Spurs will get fourth spot" then I will hold my hands up, but until then...... All I have ever said is that Spurs have a great chance of breaking the "Top Four" this season and IMO we will do it.
OneAaronLennon

Martin O'Neill could be set to make an offer for Porto Right back Jose Boswinga. It is believed a bid of around £6 million will be enough to convince the Portuguese club to part with the player. Anyone know if he's any good? Talk about taking us to the "wire". I wonder why he habitually leaves it so late to make offers. I'm beginning to think he's "all at sea" and now starting to panic!

The Villa website is now carrying a feature "Signings This Week" on the News page. So is this what we've been waiting for. I've no dought that "The Fear" will be abreast of any announcements and keep us all up to speed.

Sorry about the above duplication - I keep getting my "right mouse clicks" mixed up with the left ones. Silly old fart, I hear you say. UP THE VILLA

Re Bosingwa, the earlier press speculation linking him with us and the barcodes had him at £3 million so waiting until the last minute might have cost us an extra £3 million oops!

Its getting late in the day now, with clubs even more reluctant to allow their better quality players to leave. It'll take huge offers to even remotely tempt them, and MON seems very reluctant to splash the cash. I reckon we might just manage a loan deal, and maybe even a couple of low key signings, but I'm concerned that its going to be a case of going with what we've got, and that quite simply isn't going to be anywhere near good enough.
