Luke Moore Gunning For Goals

Luke Moore is gunning for goals!

The Villa striker is looking to add to his pre-season tally of four in tonight's game against Stoke.

The Villa academy graduate and hot prospect told the official site:

'We've certainly got a few options up front. We've got plenty of pace, power and quite a bit of skill. So you would expect us to score a few goals. That won't happen unless we work hard though and I think everyone worked hard on the tour. That's the most important thing. All the strikers know we have to be playing well to have a chance next season, but that's exactly what the manager wants isn't it.'

Adding: 'He wants options and competition for places and if you're going to do well in the Premier League, that's what you need. And you don't just need options in your starting line-up. If you look at the attacking players at the club now, there'll be options on the bench. So it's up to whoever starts against Liverpool to do a good job, otherwise there are players waiting to take over.'

Can't wait to see who Martin O'Neill starts with against Liverpool, with Moore being the one amongst the goals, he would surely be the most disappointed not lining up with Big John Carew who I assume is an automatic choice at the moment?

About time we started the Dwight Yorke (new york new york) song for Luke Moore!? Its up to you, Luke Moore, Luke Moore, la la la la la la , I'll get me coat.

I think he could be our top scorer next season and am looking forward to seeing him start
Christo
If he is a regular starter he will score goals, theres no doubt of that in my mind. Wish MON would tell me tho, coz I need to know whether to pick him for my Fantasy team! lol
DeanoVilla
I can see it now, Luke banging the goals in, an England call up and Jermaine Defoe admitted to casualty to have the splinters removed from his backside! UTV!!!
silkie villain
Luke will become a major name in football for years to come, he has natural goalscoring ability, he has just been a little laid back in his appraoch to things (O'Leary syndrome), but MON will get him buzzing and in the right frame of mind, mind you looks like he already has !!. He has the ability to become as good as, and I believe better than Defoe. Watch him go.........and forget about all those doubters who kept harping on about SWP and Defoe, our forward options are very good. Bring on some defensive cover now.
astonmilan
Luke is quality, he knows where the goal is and can finish. If he wasnt already a villa player we would be linked to him in the transfer window.

Luke moore reminds me in appearance of a younger ronaldo. He seems to have bulked up a lot since 2 seasons ago too.
johnnyuk
no matter how good he is somehow I have doubts about him getting into the England squad with their current manager
Christo
Mclaren won't be in the england job for long
The Usual Suspect
Hope not and when they do get a new manager I hope the FA dont pick someone like McClaren
Christo
I hope they dont ask MON!
Mr_North_Stand
MON would be the obvious choice to replace him, esp now he's back in the prem. I think we should have gone all out to get scolari. I don't care where the manager is from if he can get us the results.
johnnyuk
Same here but they gone and got the guy who is so so good a fan ran on the pitch and through a season ticket book at him.
Christo
Just shows what a waste of money defoe would have been - Luke can be better.
tarzan
I might be naive but i dont think Martin would take the England job after being overlooked for Mclaren.
silkie villain
Nah he has a good job where he is and how much does everyone think Moore is worth I say after this season he could be worth maybe 10-15 million
Christo
He looks full of running, and full of goals. Hopefully he'll continue on from his North American all round showings, and convince MON that he has to be a certain starter for the Liverpool game.
glensider
yea I'd start him for that match unless he gets injured
Christo
We could end up playing a 4-2-4 with Moore and Carew up top and Young and Gabby LW/RW respectively but supporting the front 2....?
bazzah
Christmas tree formation for me!
Gazvilla
If he plays 2 up front, who will be partnering Carew. Will it be Gabby or Moore? I can't see him sticking Gabby out wide again, especially after his improvement last season when moved into the middle.
PBAVFC
Steibler? lol
Christo
So nice to read a good volume of support for Luke. I consider him an instinctive striker who has the potential to go to the very top - all he needs is to be played alongside Carew for a good run in the team. Don't judge him by the goals he scores, he pressurises defenders and creates for others. We will score more goals with him in the team than out of it. Its upto you Luke Moore, Luke Moore De De der der de
stennyvilla
I've been saying for a couple of seasons now - give the lad a chance. IMHO he'll be one of the revelations of the season.
myleftfoot
Is Luke good enough/capable enough to be our twenty premiership goals per season striker? If the answer to that question is yes, then we have a chance of clinching a top six placing, and with it entry into European competition next season. If not, then we'll finish in amongst the also rans again.
glensider
Agree with you up to a point stennyvilla, but I think we have to judge him on his goals. He'll be playing presumably in the striker role, and we need goals from our strikers.
