Petrov - The Best Is To Come

Stiliyan Petrov has told the Daily Record that the best is yet to come for Villa. Phew, that is a relief!

Petrov joined at the end of the summer transfer window last year and after a dazzling debut at West Ham, seemed to fade. However if he is now fit, up to speed and ready for the rigours of the Premeriership, we could have a gem. Anymore of the anonymous performances of last season though, and questions are bound to be asked, he wasn't exactly cheap at around £8million and Celtic fans appear to agree that he is a very in-and-out of form type of player.

The 28-year-old Bulgarian international said:

'I have a clear head now and things have calmed down. When I first came here I had a lot of things in my head. There was the move from Celtic, the fall-out with the national team coach and my wife was expecting our baby son so a lot of things came all at once.'

'The Bulgaria incident was a big thing for me, as was the move from Parkhead, and all these things were going through my mind so I wasn't really focused - everything was happening. But I've had a great summer, spending time with friends and family and I'm working really hard and I'm looking forward to my football.'

Adding, 'I'm at Aston Villa to help my team-mates and make the fans happy - that's the main thing. Every player tries to be consistent and that's what I try to do but if I'm going to show it, then we'll show it as a team as well.'

Sounds like he has had a lot of the same problems that JPA had when he first arrived. Hopefully Petrov can replicate JPA's 2nd season!

I really think Petrov will do better this season I mean he has a house now and has gone through pre season with Villa this year will be different
Christo
i think he will build up a solid partnership between reo-coker, and get forward more which is what he was good at at cetic alongside lennon

Lets hope we see the best of him, because when he's at his best, he is top class. UTV

Looked good on tour, hopefully that was a sign of great things to come this season. He's a quality footballer, of that there's little doubt, and I still believe that he performed far better last season than many were prepared to give him credit for.

Looked very good tonight, he,s settled in and think he might surprise some fans next year.

Lets be honest it has to get better this season or he just as well pack his bags and walk back to the snow filled two team league up north.

Thought he did the business against Inter on Saturday also. He could very well become an integral part of one of our strongest midfield in years. Its certainly looking promising.
