'If It's Football, It's Vital'

Come In Number 29

19-year-old defender Stephen O'Halloran has been added to Villa's first-team squad and given the No29 shirt having returned from his three-month loan spell at Wycombe Wanderers.

Martin O'Neill said: 'I think Stephen did well at Wycombe, very well. Obviously there are things to improve him, but I would certainly not dismiss him. Really you're looking towards next season for him.'

O'Halloran said recently he was looking to push on:

'I had a great time at Wycombe and the experience really gave me a taste of first-team football. It also made me appreciate the chance I've got here at Villa.'

'Now I just want to get my head down and play well for the reserves. If I can do that, hopefully I'll catch the manager's eye and then we'll see what happens. Gary Cahill and Liam Ridgewell were in my position not so long ago and look at them now - both regulars in the first-team.'

O'Halloran has travelled with the squad for the Barcodes clash tonight.

Good luck to the lad, anyone seen him play?

cant say I have

Marked SWP out of the game in the firts leg of Carling Cup SF. Returned to Villa before the second. Big loss to Wycombe, so could be a prospect.

and what better manager to play under than MON? Definately sees the value in youth - too many are too scared to look within their own academys and miss out on exciting potential by releasing them all

Saw him against Chelsea at Wycombe - played well against SWP

I reckon he was promoted to the first team coz MON was expecting Jlloyd to leave yesterday. But I guess his injury scuppered any possible deal.

He's looked fairly impressive the times that I've seen him, and the spell with Wycombe will have done him no harm at all. A native I believe of the Republic of Ireland, and I wouldn't be at all surprised if he has a decent future in the game.

I've probably mentioned it before on here, but watch out also for Adam McGurk. That young lad, believe he hails from the beautiful isle of Jersey, really looks the business.
