Scottish Striker To Villa?

There are a few very sketchy reports on some of the Scottish sites suggesting that Villa have signed Celtic forward Shaun Maloney on a pre-contract so he can join Villa Park in the summer.

The 24-year-old Scotland international has been linked ever since Martin O'Neill joined Villa and Celtic have failed to tie the hot shot to a long term deal.

According to one report Villa and Celtic will try to agree a fee so he can join us before the transfer window closes tonight at midnight, if not we'll have to wait for his contract to end in the summer with the Parkhead outfit.

The new Andy Gray then? Wouldn't that be a treat!

I heard that he is already telling people that he has Joined us
Christo
Lol they are already pi**ed off with us, there will be steam coming out of their ears if this one is true.

You'd better believe it Steff. If he does sign, within a few weeks stories will be filtering down from north of the border about how unhappy he is, and how much he wants to return to Parkhead, taken a homesick Stan Petrov on the back of his tandem with him.

Bloody hell chaps, take a look at the article and responses on the Vital Celtic site.

hopefully you get him before midnight tonight, because i cant see him getting a game with celtic the rest of this season

This is now being mentioned on Sky Sports News as a possibility. I was talking to a mate of mine about this on Sunday. He's a Liverpool / Celtic fan and rates him very highly (He's actually from Leeds and he was very drunk but hey!!). We went on line and checked some of his stats. He looks pretty good and I'm informed the majority of his goals came in games where he came off the bench. I don't think he's started too many. I'm SO excited about tonight.... UTV

If shaun maloney stays fit then villa will have a good player on their hands who would be worth £7 million in english market terms. He is fast, direct, has great touch but even better left foot strike. It is a shame he left for more money but it makes it makes Strachans team selection easier with sticking by mcgeady( awsome player). His position is left wing/ supporting striker. He is the only player to have won a young and proffessional elect player awards in same year (06/07). Dissappointed with his lack of loyalty but thats football.

Mackaavfc - I hope the scots don't hack into your vital villa account and find out where you live!!!!!!!!! I see another Mel Gibson production of the Scots ransacking England because of an insulting Englishman:-)

Maaaaaan, were they miffed. Really giving us loads of grief about club size and us never amounting to anything...I think Maloney has stuck it to them in the heart. Can't wait to see this team develop. SIGNS AT NEWCASTLE WERE GOOD.

Looks like thats the end of JPA. Already behind Carew, Sutton, Young, Moore and even Berger it seems, now he has Maloney ahead of him too.

Spill the beans Christo. Who do you know, whose in the know, and knows that Maloney is telling all and and sundry that he's now a Villan?
