Another Transfer Window Surprise?

Aston Villa's manager Martin O'Neill has said that they will continue to work up right until the end of the transfer window in an attempt to bring in yet more players.

A source close to the club told me recently they'd be very busy trying to bring in the right players and somewhat frustrated by the lack of availability.

Still, they've manged to off-load an obviously unhappy Milan Baros and bring in a striker, in John Carew, who should be at his prime at the age of 27. They've also broken the previous record spend (Juan Pablo Angel as if you didn't know) by brining in Ashley Young from Watford. As well as bringing Phil Bardsley on loan from Manchester United, a player who has since said he'd love a permanent move to Villa Park.

O'Neill said: 'There are a few things in the offing and we're going to be working right to the last minute. There's nothing definite at this time. I'll probably be delayed going up to Newcastle for a while, but there are 36 hours to go, so I might as well see it to the end.'

sounds like martin is going to be speaking to a player or two 2moro then hopefully,i'd be happy with one more surprise signing,that would show a dramatic improvement in our squad until the real fun begins in the summer.

If we dont get anyone else, our intent is there for the entire footballing world to see. A good finish in the top ten and we will see some big developements in the summer I have no doubt!!!

My first comment regarding transfers. However, I have it on good authority that Alan Smith will sign on loan tomorrow. Edgley_1957 - Aimar would be class.

aimar would be quality i agree.and heres one for the summer juan roman riquelme who's contract is nearly up and who has had a big fall out with villareal. why shouldnt villa try to attract this type of player in the summer,absolutely no reason.

Ooohh it's like waiting for Santa to come.Let's hope he can get in another two giving us more options.It will be like a beach down in Devon tomorrow with all the looting and bargains going on.Just a shame we have the game to restrict his time.Oh Well!
