John Carew Looking To Make Impact

John Carew says that his move to Villa Park could be 'the last big move of my career'.

The Norwegian international striker, nicknamed the Hulk, moved to Villa Park this January with Milan Baros (who scored on his debut for Lyon) moving in the opposite direction.

The 27-year-old said: 'I can always get better and improve - and I feel I do that every year. I am 27 now - not a teenager - but I still think I have more to offer. Before I think about my long-term future and what I can achieve at Villa, I will try to do the best I can on the pitch. But this could be the last big move I make in my career, so I want to make the most of it.'

Adding: 'The club wants to be among the very best in a few years and I would be happy to take them there. I honestly believe that Martin O'Neill can bring even more out of me. He has been following my career for a long time and he is a great man. I'm already tall but he makes me feel 10 feet tall! Anywhere you go, it is important that the manager wants you.'

Might just have got him at the right time, a player at the age of 27 should be just getting into their prime. Exciting times!

The Hulk ended: 'don't make me angry, you wouldn't like me when I'm angry' before running off in a green huff whilst ripping off his shirt. Or not....

Great chance for him to score against the Newcastle defence (such as it is)
jonah
and the 'good' news is bramble's back. That's gotta be worth a goal start to us :-)

I can't help feeling excited. I just really hope reality won't come and kick me in the face too soon.
Cubos
I just hope Mr Carew has a very long, productive, injury free and happy time at our beloved and much cherished Aston Villa :-)

I think you guys have got an excellent signing here. We were reportedly close to signing him before he went to Lyon and I was gutted we missd out. This, I believe will be the striker to finally score goals a plenty at Villa Park. Good luck to you guys for the rest of the season.
roversman
thanks roversman but our secret weapon is titus bumble

How good would it be if Carew scores a hat-trick tomarrow
Christo
Now we might actually look like we may score a goal or two!!
Steve64k
I feel like we can win tomarrow

Hope you're right there Christo, long way to drive for a thumping. As long as we can service John Carew, then he'll produce, he's way too good a striker not to. He's what we've wanted and needed for quite a while now, but as I say, we've got to start creating opportunities. Unless we do that, our strike rate will continue to be disappointing.

haha Christo a hat-trick would be very nice.

i really think carew cou;d be wicked tonight....hes the sort of striker we definitly needed...and with stan coming back well be sorted...i really like stan and cannot understand the critism of him...it was obvious that hes been injured the last few games hes played...hopefully now thats sorted. he will be a class act for villa for many years to come...if st. oneill wanted him...trust his judgement!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
