The Hulk Is Ready For The Prem

The Hulk Is Ready For The Prem

New Villa signing John Carew says he is up for the challenge of the Premiership:

The 6ft 4ins (or 6ft 3ins, or 6ft 2ins depending on the stats you read) Norwegian international said:

'I don't know whether my game is made for it but I want to have some fun finding out.'

Adding, 'I'm a strong player and the physical side of the game is important and that's why I am looking forward to playing in the Premiership.'

Carew is nicknamed the Hulk, so he should fit in well as the Prem is around the most physical leagues in the World, not sure about ripping his shirts and turning green though.

He added before I so rudely interrupted: 'I don't know whether my game is made for it but I want to have some fun finding out. That is what football is about. It is something beautiful, something competitive and you can't do it if it is no fun. The Hulk thing is new but I've been this size since I was 19! I've seen the cartoon and I thought it was funny when Iversen came up with it in August.'

'I've had a few muscle strains this season and I am not 100 per cent back to full fitness so need to get some good training in at Villa. It has been a rush. I went back to France to collect my things. Usually I am forgetful but I had some friends come down from Norway and they made sure I brought my boots! My nature is that I settle easily and I am really looking forward to playing for Aston Villa. The ambience here is warm although the weather is something else! It will take a little bit of time to get used to a new system and to the Premiership so I will not be able to judge after one or two matches. But I have signed a 3½-year contract.'

He's certainly making the right pre-debut noises, and he brings with him a more than respectable reputation, so add that to the fact that on paper at least he's just the type of forward that we've been crying out for, and the stage is very definitely well and truly set for the arrival of Mr Carew. Looking forward to seeing him in action on Wednesday evening.

Lets not get carried away just yet - don't forget he has only scored 1 goal in the French league this season - Although he was mighty impressive in the Lyon - Madrid game last November. Lets just wait and see how he settles in. The 4 - 4 - 3 formation should suit him because thats how Lyon play and Carew is naturally the lone striker with support from the flanks - Young, Gabby/Moore Just take a look at how many Madrid players it took to slow him down!

Good luck John, you have the chance to become a proper Villa legend in every sense of the word. How cool would it be to part of making us great again?

How about this as a new song for Carew " He's big, he's mean, he gets angry and turns green, John Carew, John Carew" ?

He will be out to make up for lost time following his proposed move to Fulham that fell through a few seasons back. Good luck to him.
