'If It's Football, It's Vital'

Villa Haven't Finished Spending

Following the arrival of Phil Bardsley (on loan), John Carew and Ashley Young some might think that the transfers are done and dusted for this window, but this is a new Villa and according to Martin O'Neill, not to mention comments from the General in the forum, no one is prepared to rest on their laurels, they know more players are needed and the hunt goes on!

The Villa boss said: 'We've been working very hard to try and do something. I'm delighted and obviously with a few days left, you never know what might materialise. We certainly haven't stopped trying to improve the team and, as I've said often enough in the past, the very good players at this football club would I'm sure welcome a bit of help. That's what we're trying to do.'

Adding: 'I'm hoping that Carew and Ashley coming in will give us a bit of a boost, and obviously we would want to be adding a bit more to the squad if we can possibly do so. I am not sure what we are going to do, but we certainly have some days left yet and we are looking at some other possibilities. We are trying to do something.'

Yippee, more rumours due that won't end up, like in days of old, with more disappointment!

Is this really happening???? At Villa????
jonah
My heart rate has just returned to normal, ooooh all this excitement.Great news let's hope the club can pull em off! Sidwell -Midfield Dynamo /Maloney -creative forward, are both out of contract and must be worth a punt..
OneloveVilla
SAVIOLA, innit. SPlashing the cash will help attract quality players - it shows our ambition
paranoid_ormandroyd
Anyone noticed the Papa Bouba Mmm bop, ba duba dop Ba du bop, ba duba dop Ba du bop, ba duba dop Ba du (as fear calls him) has still not signed for Wigan yet?
mackaavfc
Colcoccini from Roma - big powerful argie centre half - now i am dreaming
Stig
So what are the latest rumours? SWP, Robbie Keane ???
kentvilla
MON is saying he needs to strengthen the right midfield. Could that mean SWP i wonder as he is not happy at Chelsea because of lack of first team footie??
kentvilla
Bouba di bopa diopy du bop is a player I would love to see in a villa shirt, seen him alot for fulham and he would be a very welcome addition/foil for mccann.
Stig
Have we experienced a more exciting transfer window gentlemen? Eager anticipation, its an experience we've all found in very short supply during seasons past as the windows opened and closed with the minimum of activity.
glensider
glen have to agree, so many seasons and so many disapointments. Randy got Villa for a snip, compared to what Iceland man paid for WHU and what the sandmen are supposed to be paying for Drivelpool, maybe there more money to be spent, but I would not hold your breath as I think thats all folks till the end of the season.

Err kentvilla... the whole SWP thing was covered a couple of weeks ago dude! where have you been? we have ashley young now too. (yeah, i said dude...sue me, its a great word) I think Mmmbop Diop would be tremendous for villa, perfect midfield tank. Or and probably even better an industrious midfielder, Like KEV NOLAN... PS: Its time for Lukie Moore to shine... 6 months and it'll be his name on every1's lips, not fabby gabby.
Astonvillionaire
col8 - No way have the signings finished. We've signed 3 players and lost 5 (I think).
Gazvilla
I think there will be a couple more,as Gazvilla say's,we've lost more than signed.A couple of injury now and were in trouble,MON knows that so ,yeh, i think a couple more.
Dudley_Villa
Now that we've got Carew and Young on board, I wouldn't be surprised to see O'Neill revert back to the 4-3-3 formation which served us well at the start of the season before the injury to Luke Moore. It'd be nice to get another hard-working midfielder in (someone in the McCann mold) as I think we'd start seeing an improvement in Petrov's game with someone behind him to worry about getting possession back and mopping up any loose balls...
jeffg_utv
SWP has already said that he does not want to come to villa which is why the Baros deal to Chelsea did not go through, all this is according to Baros himself, So do we really want players that dont think ASTON VILLA FC is good enough for them..! Plenty more fish in the sea like Ricardo Quaresma at FC PORTO what a player he is. Diop from Fulham would also be a good signing then we would have two incredible hulks in the squad( CAREW and Diop ) awesome.
deemz
American midfielder Claudio Reyna, who has been allowed to leave by Manchester City, could enter Villa’s radar. Express & Star latest news.........whats every1's opinion?
Dudley_Villa
Still think we have a shout with Milner, he knows the squad, played under21s with 3 of them and cant fail to have noticed whats happening at the Villa. Will he get a game at Newcastle with a fully fit squad? Roeder nearly sold him once and he wont forget that for a good while. Alternatively Geremi could prove a good foil if we did go 4-3-3, Barry McCann/Petrov Geremi across the center with Young Gabby and Carew up top? Happy days boys, long may they last.
Stourbridge Villan
Savi would be good and I wanna see Pinilla join and Reo Coker
Christo
I thought Reyna had been released because he wanted to move back to the states for family reasons?
jonah
Forgot about Reo-spit-roaster, so many players to choose from. His attitude may be an issue. NO ONE suggest Kieran Richardson ever again (it did happen yesterday)
tarzan
Sorry Tarzan, It won't happen again :-(
Gazvilla
Oh my God,MON says there is more !!! C`mon Randy, let`s test Chelsea for Robben as Jose can`t stand him,try and get Baptista as available for loan so i gather - then we can have " the beast" and "the hulk" in our team and then pleasure overload!!!!
ASPINALL
Aspinall - Baptista is only on loan at Arsenal? Thought it was a season long loan with Reyes going the other way?
mackaavfc
never mind richardson when luke is fit, it will feel like a quality new signing
morky13villa
My source is normally spot-on but he may be getting mixed up,i`ve just heard he`s available-maybe Real` and Arsenal both wanna get rid.
ASPINALL
to second guess mon, look at his two deals so far, ash young good investment age wise and potential. carew not overpriced, so anyone bought in must be good value (forget bellamy crouch etc ) good shout kevin nolan or spuds injured guy. but i dont think any hyped players will fit mons plans
morky13villa
Tarzan it was morky who mentioned Richardson, not me!
Gazvilla
Poland international Radoslaw Matusiak has told Aston Villa he is too good to go on trial with them. Villa offered the GKS Belchatow striker a trial last week but the 25-year-old says the Premiership club must travel to Poland if they want to sign him I missed this.Anyone know anything about him? I've read his stats but whats he really like? PLUS is it true?
Dudley_Villa
sorry gazvilla not me! the r bloke may have been good enough for relegated baggies but not us UTV!
morky13villa
Matusiak would be a good addition, I'd like to see another creative midfielder and some more cover at the back too. Great signings so far and weeded out some dross too if ya ask me.
ExpatVillaShirt
obviously with a few days left, you never know what might materialise. I wonder if this is just wishfull thinking.
