Villa Haven't Finished Spending

Following the arrival of Phil Bardsley (on loan), John Carew and Ashley Young some might think that the transfers are done and dusted for this window, but this is a new Villa and according to Martin O'Neill, not to mention comments from the General in the forum, no one is prepared to rest on their laurels, they know more players are needed and the hunt goes on!

The Villa boss said: 'We've been working very hard to try and do something. I'm delighted and obviously with a few days left, you never know what might materialise. We certainly haven't stopped trying to improve the team and, as I've said often enough in the past, the very good players at this football club would I'm sure welcome a bit of help. That's what we're trying to do.'

Adding: 'I'm hoping that Carew and Ashley coming in will give us a bit of a boost, and obviously we would want to be adding a bit more to the squad if we can possibly do so. I am not sure what we are going to do, but we certainly have some days left yet and we are looking at some other possibilities. We are trying to do something.'

Yippee, more rumours due that won't end up, like in days of old, with more disappointment!

MON is saying he needs to strengthen the right midfield. Could that mean SWP i wonder as he is not happy at Chelsea because of lack of first team footie??

Have we experienced a more exciting transfer window gentlemen? Eager anticipation, its an experience we've all found in very short supply during seasons past as the windows opened and closed with the minimum of activity.

glen have to agree, so many seasons and so many disapointments. Randy got Villa for a snip, compared to what Iceland man paid for WHU and what the sandmen are supposed to be paying for Drivelpool, maybe there more money to be spent, but I would not hold your breath as I think thats all folks till the end of the season.

Err kentvilla... the whole SWP thing was covered a couple of weeks ago dude! where have you been? we have ashley young now too. (yeah, i said dude...sue me, its a great word) I think Mmmbop Diop would be tremendous for villa, perfect midfield tank. Or and probably even better an industrious midfielder, Like KEV NOLAN... PS: Its time for Lukie Moore to shine... 6 months and it'll be his name on every1's lips, not fabby gabby.

Now that we've got Carew and Young on board, I wouldn't be surprised to see O'Neill revert back to the 4-3-3 formation which served us well at the start of the season before the injury to Luke Moore. It'd be nice to get another hard-working midfielder in (someone in the McCann mold) as I think we'd start seeing an improvement in Petrov's game with someone behind him to worry about getting possession back and mopping up any loose balls...

SWP has already said that he does not want to come to villa which is why the Baros deal to Chelsea did not go through, all this is according to Baros himself, So do we really want players that dont think ASTON VILLA FC is good enough for them..! Plenty more fish in the sea like Ricardo Quaresma at FC PORTO what a player he is. Diop from Fulham would also be a good signing then we would have two incredible hulks in the squad( CAREW and Diop ) awesome.

American midfielder Claudio Reyna, who has been allowed to leave by Manchester City, could enter Villa’s radar. Express & Star latest news.........whats every1's opinion?

Still think we have a shout with Milner, he knows the squad, played under21s with 3 of them and cant fail to have noticed whats happening at the Villa. Will he get a game at Newcastle with a fully fit squad? Roeder nearly sold him once and he wont forget that for a good while. Alternatively Geremi could prove a good foil if we did go 4-3-3, Barry McCann/Petrov Geremi across the center with Young Gabby and Carew up top? Happy days boys, long may they last.

to second guess mon, look at his two deals so far, ash young good investment age wise and potential. carew not overpriced, so anyone bought in must be good value (forget bellamy crouch etc ) good shout kevin nolan or spuds injured guy. but i dont think any hyped players will fit mons plans

Poland international Radoslaw Matusiak has told Aston Villa he is too good to go on trial with them. Villa offered the GKS Belchatow striker a trial last week but the 25-year-old says the Premiership club must travel to Poland if they want to sign him I missed this.Anyone know anything about him? I've read his stats but whats he really like? PLUS is it true?
