Ashley Young Excited To Get Started

For goodness sake Villa, will you stop creating news, I'm trying to go for my tea and we aren't used to all this excitement!

Ashley Young, who signed a four-and-a-half year contract at Villa today has told the official site he is keen to just 'get in and start'.

The England Under-21 midfielder said:

'I'm extremely excited. I'm glad it's all done and dusted with the medical and I can't wait to train. The manager is one of the best in the country and I'm looking forward to playing under him.'

'There's a good set of boys here and I just want to get down to work now. We've got a break this weekend, which is disappointing, but I can get to know the lads and prepare for a debut at Newcastle next week - that's not a bad stage to make my debut.' Adding, 'I've met the manager before and the way he came across in our talks made him someone I wanted to play for. He has real enthusiasm and he gets the best out of his players. Hopefully he can do the same for me.'

On the Villa he said: 'There's a lot of ability here and a good mix. We've got a lot of young players who have done well, but some experience as well. I just want to get in and gel with the boys. I already know Gabby Agbonlahor from when he came on loan to Watford last year and we've been away together with the England Under-21s as well, so we've got a good understanding already. Gabby's done well this season and quite a few players have come through the Villa Academy, so this is clearly a good place to be for younger players.'

Speed on both wings, or Gabby to play up front with the Hulk John Carew. Things are looking up! Hey, this lot might even bring out the best in Juan Pablo Angel, you never know.

Thank God. It has not been a bad week. Villa Win (at last), Get a good young player, A big strong lump of a striker and plus we got rid of that donkey baros. All we need now is a new center half and a goalkeeper just for depth then we are sorted untill the next transfer window! =)

sk1nner8O - Let's be adventurous and play 4:3:3 in attack and 4:5:1 when defending. So it's just got to be - Backs: Bardsley, Mellberg, Laursen (if fit) or Cahill (if not), Bouma. Midfield: McCann, Petrov and Barry. Forwards: Gabby, Carew and Young. Subs: (1) Taylor, (2) Cahill or Ridgewell (if Laursen or Cahill not fit), (3) Angel or Moore (when fit), (4) Davis, (5) Gardner or Osbourne. That's the best squad for this season.

The point being - We have options!!
Adam Deuce
He'll play every minute of the rest of the season like Gabby and he'll chip in with afew goals, i feel like both Carew and Young will not disappoint one bit
AussieVilla
Yep,that`s decent but i`d have Barry instead of Bouma with Davis in midfield.
ASPINALL
Sorensen/Bardsley,Olaf,Laursen,Barry/Stan,McCann,Davis/Gab,Young,Hulk.
ASPINALL
No definitely Bouma in Davis on the bench, the lad just hasn't produced the goods this season and Bouma has been solid and reliable since he came back.

And we're all excited in anticipation of seeing you in action too Ashley. Certainly adds a bit of additional spice for our long drive up to Tyneside next mid-week.
