Will The Real Petrov Please Stand Up

Stiliyan Petrov is back in training and is hoping to be fit to return to action against Newcastle United next Wednesday (31st Jan)

The Bulgarian midfielder has missed been sidelined for the last two games having played several games previously with a hamstring problem.

He told the official site: 'I feel a lot better now and I'll be back in training today. I should be ready for the Newcastle game and I ant wait to get back into action.'

He also yesterday denied that he was unhappy in Birmingham and said he has no plans of leaving Aston Villa.

Come on Petrov, lets be having you, you showed what you could offer the team in a 10-out-of-10 performance v West Ham on your debut. More of that and you'll become a Villa legend!

He's only looking forward to the Newcastle game coz his wife will be able to pop up to Scotland for a cuppa while he plays.

I hope that the rest has helped him to get his head together, he is a great talant but unfortunetly we have not seen that except for the hammers game. I for one am not convinced that he is happy but lets hope he will prove his worth at Newcastle (if played) and then maybe he can prove he is happy in Birmingham.

A few wins, better players around him. Smiles and goals. He'll soon be saying it's the best thing he could have done.

Clearly a quality player, I have no doubts that he is destined to become a VP star.
