Villa Should Clear Up Petrov Rumour

I know the club can't come out with statements over all the newspaper reports and speculation that appears about Aston Villa, but I do think with the growing rumours that all is not well with Stiliyan Petrov, it wouldn't hurt for the player himself or someone from the club to give us some clarification.

Are the newspaper reports, mostly in Scotland, true, that Petrov has asked to leave and wants to return to Celtic? My guess is they probably aren't because under Fifa rules a player can't return to a club he has left within twelve months without permission but why have the whispers that the Bulgarian is unhappy increased so much recently?

So come on Villa, lets get a statement out and clear these reports up, is Petrov injured, unhappy, both or neither!!!!?

Vital Celtic: Will Villa deny Petrov Celtic link?

Reports in Scotland also suggest Villa are lining up a 1million bid for Hearts midfielder Paul Hartley.

According to the Setanta website, the reports have come from the Bulgarian media, but there are no comments directly attributed to Petrov or anyone connected with him. A friend of mine in Bulgaria has told me today that the Bulgarian media are notorious for making up stories (much like our own) and he thinks this is one of those stories that has no truth in it at all. The club need to clear this up quickly though and make a statement

They shouldnt clear up any rumour. It should be dealt with by the chairman, the player and MON. If he has to leave then sell him, if MON decides to play him then fine. It's basically between the employee and the people who pay his contract, no one else. If he is unhappy, I reckon he'll come through it under the guidance of the boss. He has seemed very positive in interviews before the ManYew match in the FA Cup and throughout the season. Maybe the missus dont like Brum but I reckon Its a load of *********.

Send the General round to have a word with Mrs Petrov, I say!

Mischief making by the media I say.He wanted out of parkhead for over 12 months, why go back!!So what is being said is he comes to the premiership and after 4 months can't handle playing with the big boys and wants to go back.Bull****.He is here to stay & play.Just being playing through injury for the good of the team and it is affecting his form.I would rather the Villa focus their energy on getting players in than responding to tripe. We have a good all rounder there.

At least his mom hasn't got involved, sounds like complete bull to me, but it wouldn't take much effort to clear this up with a two word statement, "Petrov stays"
steff_the_villan
You won't hear those words from MON. Thats for sure.

I asked the general about this on the 100% football thread. He states that he has heard NOTHING about Petrov being unhappy.

Then he'd make a very good politician as well as a military tactician. His article on the "strategic corporal" was excellent, may I add, in all seriousness.

I think that the rumours have become so widespread now, that some sort of statement from the club, or preferably the player himself, would be welcomed by all.

Maybe hes not denying it because he could be considering it. I dont want him to go, but i dont want him to stay to play half-assed.
AussieVilla
I agree he's having a quiet spell AussieVilla, but the guys quality. A class of player we need more of.
