Fans Split On Delaney

Last weeks poll asked if Villa should grant Mark Delaney's transfer request and allow him to leave. It seems the fans are pretty split on the topic with a broad range of answers. 34% said he should be allowed to go because he is always injured, which to be fair is a bit harsh! The majority of injuries the Wales international right back has suffered from have resulted from bad tackles as opposed to being injury prone.

The player has been linked to both Blackburn Rovers and a return to Cardiff City, 14% believe he should be granted the move as he has been badly treated. A small 2% said he should be allowed to leave because he isn't good enough. Not totally sure what games they have watched him play in, he's always given 100% as far as I can see. Another 2% said he shouldn't be allowed to leave but should be consigned to the reserves!

That leaves 10% saying he should not be granted a transfer and should instead be played and 38% saying he should not be allowed to leave until the end of the season.

Delaney's position appears to have remained constant throughout this period, he doesn't want to leave, but if the club won't offer him a new contract - as his runs out in the summer - he feels he will be forced to do so.

One thing is for sure, we can't afford to lose another defender this season with the current injury crisis showing no signs of ending, but with Doug probably seeing pound signs, we all know what will happen!
