Less Paper, More Card(s) At Villa

Interesting developments at Villa again, ok for those that are going to be grumpy, this isn't a player signing, but never-the-less for the rest who can see that the club is being re-built across all sections, any developments are surely welcome?

The facilities at clubs such as Reading (he says struggling for any other examples, although I think Celtic are introducing it) allow for fans to use a swipe (or smart) card to buy tickets, to gain access and also to earn loyalty points that are then used when tickets are allocated for away games and cup finals, with the latter hopefully being far more relevant in the not too distant future for us!

Anyway, the club looked at the situation when Bruce Langham was at the helm and it has again been mentioned since the new guys took control. Now, having thought this is one for the future, they are introducing a trial of the system in the Holte End.

The official site explains:

'Swipe Card season tickets have already worked successfully at other stadiums around the world and we will be carrying out a trial of the system during the final weeks of the season. We have joined forces with Fortress GC, whose equipment will be installed in K block of the Holte End upper tier with a view to introducing it throughout the stadium by the start of the 2007-08 campaign.'

Adding: In addition to improving access to the stadium, the Swipe Card technology could ultimately make the whole match day experience at Villa Park more enjoyable. The system could, for instance, help to reduce queues at catering outlets on the various concourses, and possibly be used for loyalty schemes.'

Operations manager Lee Preece, also the head of the Supporters Consultation Group (SCG) explained: 'This is an important and positive step for the club. It gives us the opportunity to improve the standard of service we offer at Villa Park.'

The club will write to K block season ticket holders in due course.

Wonder if the loyalty points will go towards balti pie purchases?!

About time we moved into the 21st century. Excellent move and will no doubt save money over time.

It won't save YOU a dime!

Chill Weetim67 - it will make the Villa experience better and that's the point. People will see more VALUE for their money and this will instill positivity. It's just another sign that Villa, with the Training ground, the Tavern, Train station and brand spanking NEW Training facilities are creeping back to a well-oiled business instead of - as Gordon Ramsay once said about a salad dish: " Here's your fiver now F££K off " which was in reference to poor customer service....let the good times roll!!

Another very sensible, progressive step forward. The moaners need to look at the overall picture as to how the club is moving forward. They wont, but they need to.

I happen to know the chaos it caused at Celtic

They use them at Albion don't they? I don't hear much about problems there.
