O'Neill speaks on Young AUDIO

Aston Villa boss Martin O'Neill says he doesn't want to rush things with Ashley Young after the young winger cum striker travelled to the Midlands to discuss personal terms with the club following a transfer fee being agreed between Villa and Watford. Martin O'Neill adds that patience is key and he hopes the player will sign on the dotted line.

I do hope this isn't a ploy. Spend a week trying to persuade Young to sign then say it fell through. Then come up with"We aren't left with enough time in this window to try and bring anyone else in."

He wants to go to Spurs, so even if you do get him i doubt his heart will be in it.

That defies belief Skeggy, think you have sussed them, they've just told a pile of lies, bought Villa on a whim and really don't want to buy any players at all. Get a grip, they have bid, they want him, if he wants to come to Villa, we've got ourselves a new player, if not I'm sure there are other targets. MON is not a mug!

Well said JP. I hope the guys don't revert to hoofing the ball and bypassing midfield...now we have hopefully got Young. They should be under strict instructions to pass to midfield and back again to defense if it means opening a channel....please no more hoofs; it was embarrasing watching them do that against Charlton never mind anyone else. 3 nil to us by the way.

i know we can be pessimistic skeggy but come on, MON would not stay with us if all he was going to do was act out a charade for the chairman. He has enough suitors to get him a job where he could spend a lot of money. MON Is going to get him, and ahead of the last eight days when all the activity takes place!

It seems the statement is to say, he may not be done and dusted today.West ham did'nt get this far.The lad has been at Watford since he was 10, so any move will be a wrench and he may need some time to get his head around it.When he see's the new training ground the ambition at the club and the fact we are a sleeping giant the odds are good. Most of our lads have come through the system like him so there is common understanding. Two good feet for crossing , bags of pace and only 21.There will be some years in that one!

The thoughts and words of the negative brigade sometimes defy belief. These things can be involved and drawn out. Lot of cash for the club to spend, big and important move for the young lad to make.

not he has been offered £30.000 a week over 4 years. I doubt he was on that at Watford. Money taks volumes in football.
