Aston Villa Agree Young Fee

The official website have announced that the club have agreed a fee with Watford star Ashley Young in a reported £9.65million deal.

Young, who has been chased recently by West Ham (rejected once) and Spurs (rejected by Watford) will now talk to Martin O`Neill about a move to the Midlands.

Finally some transfer action, woohoo!

Finally some action, now I can start breathing again. I hope this now starts the ball rolling.
Bigwire McGuire
8mil deal which could rise by 1.65mil depending on his success. i saw it and came back here to see if you had anything on it but there was nothing then i saw another article on it came back here. whats with the youngsters though, whats so good about him. And he looks like nick cannon
AussieVilla
I think he wants to stay in Lundon town. But MoN could sell ice to the eskimos. His enthusiasm is so strong.
Pking
Just think of our pacy front line in the 4-3-3 formation young, gabby and moore. This is good news we have waited long enough.
samtozer
great news to go to bed to but sites are not getting all the facts together some say £10m some say £8m and others say something else
Christo
probably a good place and good manager to improve his trade and skills, would of liked to see him come to arsenal, but a better move than west ham or spuds.
PUREGOLD
Lets hope some of those who doubted Martin and Randy's commitment and intent will shut up now. I have found some of the recent negativity astonishing and it has made me realise how ignorant some people are. Lets hope he signs now!!!
jake findlay
Puregold, don't be bloody greedy, you've got Henry
steff_the_villan
I'll wait till the inks dry...
steff_the_villan
£10m!!! Deadly wouldn't have gone higher than £2m and a timeshare in Benidorm.
pongogidman
Wouldn't be too surprised to see Martin Jol back in with a late renewed bid. Come on Martin and Randy. Your task now is to sell the club and its vision to the lad. Still in the early stages, a lot of talking, selling, and convincing to be done. Fingers crossed though. A completed deal would get the message out that AVFC are back in business.
glensider
I doubt Tottenham will pay that much, he is completely overpriced, but is what we have to do at the moment because we are desperate for new blood and he seems to be the only decent player available. Good business for watford though, and their car salesman manager.
liamo1981
Lads, lets be honest here.....how much have we really seen of Young? If we paid that much, he'd be our record signing and i dont believe he's worth that much. If he came to Villa and embellished our supply line; got into the England team, scared the daylights out of all and sundry etc i'd be happy. But geeesh..almost 10 MILLION ? I think we're being held to ransom here. I'm happy if we sign players but not just for the sake of it. He could be our only signing..... I will however give MoN the benefit if he feels Young is for the future.
reza
Just watch Spurs come in and nick from under us!
jonah
It's a lot of money and a Big gamble but if we want players we need to spend cash -
Still-Ian
He could be the next Henry. We can only hope!
DeanoVilla
Wahoo, if MON thinks hes worth it then great stuff sign him up. I dont think hes overpriced, i think its the going rate these days, £18m for Carrick proves the point.
mackaavfc
shows our ambition but i feel it's too much to pay. at this stage of our development i feel we should be in the market for good players round the 5-6 million mark. a club like ours should only be spending really big money like 10million if that player would be the 'icing on the cake' to add to an already good team.
Dee1
Lets just hope he isnt named in Watford team tomorrow - that would be a real sign he is on his way by Monday. Unless they get it done and dusted today. He would be a class buy and no-one better will move this month in my opinion!!
deano.avfc
Good news, shame about the over-inflated price but I guess it's a sign of the times. Can't wait to see him in action for the Villa !
ExpatVillaShirt
Dee1 - has anyone told you Ellis is no longer our Chairman? Or are you worried because you are personally paying for the transfer yourself? We all moan we want a signing and then when we are about to get one we all moan hes overpriced in a market where Heskey goes for £5.5m? Stop moaning!! Our chairman (NOT ELLIS) is a billionaire and we have a top manager, if they think hes worth it then i cant see how we can possibly question them. Well done MON and Randy even if he doesn't sign you have signalled your intent to the fans and the rest of the Premiership, for which i thank you.
mackaavfc
Good to see us targetting young talent, need to build for the future not just for the now. I wouldn't think this will be the last arrival either (if he agrees to come obviously).
The Fear
lol He may be allowed to play for us tomarrow
Christo
I think I better mention my 'one trick'. Lets hope that he signs before tomorrow, because if he comes and sees what a ground with 10,000 - 15,000 empty seats looks and sounds like, we haven't got a chance afterwards. Or maybe I will be wrong and we will get the best part of 40,000. As I see it, Ellis has gone, replaced by a billionaire, who is investing in the infrasructure of the club (Holte Hotel, Bodymoor Heath). We have the most sought after manager in the league and the nuleus of the team that is young, British and in some cases local Villa supporters. The new owners have tried lots of ticket initiatives to help the fans including free travel. We have supporter consultation groups. And finally we are 8 points better off from the same games against last season. On top of all that we have agreed the biggest fee of the transfer window and this for a young, English forward. Everything is positive and the fans will fill Villa Park tomorrow to show their appreciation. We will see!
voiceoftheholte
Dejavouoftheholte. LOL.
mackaavfc
*fingers crossed* that he comes. http://www.bsad.org/colinwho/young.html

SWP to follow next week too, we back in business!
son_of_cher
An awful lot of money to spend on a youngster.
villacross
An awful lot of money for a "rookie". I re-ran the film of our game against the Hornets last year and he didn’t impress. I think he's only scored twice so far this season, so that's not very impressive either. But hey.ho what do I know. But still think that SWP is better investment, even at twice the amount Watford are asking for Young. Also feel that Spurs are not yet out of it with cash + players deal.
villacross
This is great news that we are up there and competing to buy one of the most promising players in the country and as said by several others, although the price may seem inflated, i put my trust in MON and Randy to buy the right players to fit their plans ahead and as with everything its a case of supply and demand and there aint much supply at the moment. Hopefully MON (maybe with some help from Gabbie) can use his powers of persuasion. Mind you, i only hope he ends up being a btter signing than that other winger we signed from Watford Nigel Callaghan - one of the worst players i've ever seen in a Villa shirt.
melbourne holte ende
Some people are never happy. Under Deadly we sold to buy in recent years, Villa fans not happy! No major transfer activity since 1st Jan, Villa fans not happy! Finally we look at signing a young lad with huge potential (managed by MON) & not an over priced has been, still Villa fans not happy!WHAT WILL PLEASE SOME OF THE VILLA MOANERS?
Quania
If we bought Ronaldinho for £1m someone would say its not good enough!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Quania
If this kinda talk carries on someone will call us fickle!
The Usual Suspect
Quania what are you going on about, most of the comments above are possitive about the move to sign Young? I certainly sense only positivity about the move to sign him.
melbourne holte ende
Ok Melbourne, but some fans will always find something to moan about!!
Quania
Quania - stop moaning :)
mackaavfc
MON still hopefull about the signing.
col8
Does it really matter if we spend 10m on a player? Loads of clubs do it at the moment without even breaking sweat. It will be our and MON's record sigining, do you really think he's gamble 10m if the players wasnt up for it?? I reckon Randy will spend at least 50m by the start of next season
son_of_cher
i dont care bout money now really cos we know we've got it to spend and at least we are showing ambition and risk at tyring young at this price. even if young isnt worth 10 million we are still gettin yet another young english player with heaps of potential. and now with the likes of gabby gary liam stve isiah and maybe now ashley we look a deadly force fo the future!! we may have players in the england squad not just makin numbers but in there with the likes of man utd and liverpool england stars. THE FUTURE IS BRIGHT, THE FUTURE IS CARET AND BLUE!
