Hendrie Won't Be Held Back

Martin O'Neill says he will monitor the Lee Hendrie situation but wouldn't hold him back if a team came in for him amidst reports that Stoke and Sheffield United are battling for the 29-year-old midfielders signature.

O'Neill said of Hendrie, who made the bench for Villa against Manchester United:

'Lee is back here at this minute. We haven't that many choices at this moment, but he has got a chance and we'll see where we go. We had talks and it was to tell him that we'll see now if he gets a chance to play. Lee has got a run of games now under his belt at Stoke, feels fit enough to play and is getting an opportunity to do so. It's for him to try and take it.'

Adding: 'But now he's got the fitness and got enthusiasm back, I wouldn't want to be holding him back either just for the sake of it but we'll monitor the next couple of weeks.'

Manager speak for if we're desperate he may get on the pitch, but the first half decent offer and he is gone.

Something MUST have happened between O'Neill and Pikey, I wonder if he asked him to wash his ferrari?

Don't like the guy. Only played well when he's about to sign a new deal or looking to move...reminds me of a certain Mr Baros. Compare his attitude compared to say Barry

have we had this story before?

been different quotes over the last month or so tylervilla, these are new ones, honest!
The Fear
It may be a different Hendrie under MON - there's only one way to find out and that's to give him three or four starts, without sub'ing him.
villacross
Wonder if he would demand someone to wash his Ferrari in his new contract?
mackaavfc
He can't be any worse than Petrov at the mo

Basically MON is telling us that Lee does not figure in his plans, and I would suggest that for whatever reason there is some sort of rift between MON and Hendrie, a rift that cannot be healed. Best for all concerned me thinks if Lee moves on.
