'If It's Football, It's Vital'

The Villa Times - 11/01/2007

Unoial Villa News...

According to Sky Leicester City are facing a struggle to keep hold of 'highly-rated' goalkeeper Paul Henderson with interest from Aston Villa, Wigan and Norwich. The Australian 30-year-old shot stopper is apparently not held down by a long term contract.

Another rumour suggests Villa right-back Aaron Hughes might be returning to Newcastle. The Journal claims his future is 'in the balance' after the loan arrival of Phil Bardsley from Manchester United. Rubbish, you don't take a player on loan to provide more bodies in the squad only to off-load another squad member. Do you, especially not a versatile player like Hughes who might not be a world beater but can play across all four positions in defence.

David Beckham is leaving Real Madrid and is being linked with all and sundry! Full article: Beckham Leaving Real Madrid

Small Heath have failed to win anything so they've decided to nick our honours instead. Trust me, you couldn't make this up: Small Heath Nick Villa Honours

Vital Villa asked, in a poll suggested by Harkcombr, whether Bardsley was a good loan signing. 57% said they didn't know and they'd wait and see. 20% said he was a good signing and that he is quality. 19% said it was an 'ok' signing and 4% said it wasn't a good signing. So what have we learnt from that? Sweet fa!

The club have announced that Peter Whittingham has completed a move to Championship side Cardiff City. The 22-year-old former England under-21 will join up with promotion hopefuls at Ninean Park. Shame, always thought Whittingham had great potential, certainly a decent player on his day although he did seem to have wild swings in form.

Transfer activity two today and again, it is unfortunately an exit with the news that 31-year-old midfielder Didier Agathe has left Aston Villa.

Milan Baros's agent, who now speaks for Villa apparently, says that the Czech international is waiting for Chelsea to push through the move for the striker. Paska said: 'Aston Villa are not willing to release Milan until they get an adequate replacement. They would like to bring in Shaun Wright-Phillips, but they have not reached an agreement so far. That is why the talks will continue in the next week.' Full article: Baros's agent has big mouth

Reports suggest Chelsea will make their minds up quickly about Shaun Wright-Phillips and Villa could learn today if their bid, loan or permanent, has been successful. Some suggest any Baros move is dependent on SWP moving in the opposite direction.

Villa's young midfielder Craig Gardner has suffered a set back in his bid to recover from an injury he picked up in the FA Cup game against Manchester United. Full article: Click Here

Martin O'Neill says Gavin McCann has been terrific this season and that O'dearme was wrong labelling him a 'bread and butter' player last season. Full quotes: If anyone can, McCan can

Do you not think Baros agent came from a PR back ground? He's certainly causing a storm in a tea cup! What an overpaid *****!

Hopefully the next update of 'The Villa Times' will carry news of a new arrival or two, new faces to offset the departures. In the meantime of course we have all the antics and goings on over at Birmingham B9 to keep us upbeat and amused.

How dare leelindsay complain about injuries.Chelsea have a real injury crisis.

Thread-bare is an understatement....if MoN has to resort calling Djemba into the squad, one had a good idea of how many fit players we have. 16 is what i count.... One question tho....he speaks of his midfield dilemma...No Petrov, no Gardner....but i ask...where is Lee Hendrie???

Surely with Randy's billions we could have matched anything LA Galaxy were offering Beckham, absolute disgrace we couldn't go that extra mile :-)
