'If It's Football, It's Vital'

Villa Transfer Activity - One Out

The club have announced that Peter Whittingham has completed a move to Championship side Cardiff City.

The 22-year-old former England under-21 will join up with promotion hopefuls at Ninean Park. Shame, always thought Whittingham had great potential, certainly a decent player on his day although he did seem to have wild swings in form.

Good luck Whitts, be interesting to see how he develops and hopefully he'll now get regular first team football.

As the Welsh would say, 'there's nice you are' or is it yaky dar?

Whitts could well be back in the Premiership if Cardiff secure promotion via the play offs.
still skeggy
yeah, always thought he had a good chance but he did seem to have big dips in form, that said when you don't get regular first team football it can't be easy, lets face it none of us really know the pressure or what it is like!
The Fear
Had a good left peg good luck to him.
samtozer
Yea, good luck to the lad, never quite made the grade for Villa but I wish him well at his new club.
jonah
now our squad is even smaller

While we and the press are talking about wright philips and the other kid from watford it looks like he is buying someone for the left or even better both.
jk
Shame he didn't progress the way many of us thought he would. But then he did have Gareth Barry in his way! All the best to him.

I know my Dad will be gutted he really rated Whittingham. Just never really got a long enough spell in the team and with GB ahead of you there was little chance of it really...

Is it just me or do we seem to give away our young guys? £350k seems a very small fee for a current England U21 player! I have no problems with us selling as I don't think he will make a top premiership player...but surely the fee should be nearer £1 million? UTV SOTC
Rickymeister
Good Luck to him I hope he is a success for Cardiff City and the language barrier is easily overcome.
col8
have to agree with Rickmeister, £350k for an england u21 international with premiership experience...?
deemz
Good luck to him, seemed to ahve a great left foot but never made an impact in the first team despite being a regular for the U'21s.
Tierney
Didn't think he was anywhere near good enough personally. Needed way too much time and space on the ball to do anything of note.
glensider
TalkSport reported him as going to Cardiff on a FREE... good luck to the lad he was one of the first of the "youngsters" to get in the team... alas like Stephan Moore I think he will be a Championship Player

£350k is another Villa Park giveaway. Surely closer to a million would have been more realistic?
