Laursen Return On Cards

Martin Laursen could well be on his way back sooner than expected after being sidelined with knee ligament damage since the Carling Cup loss to Chelsea in November.

The Danish international returned to training on Monday and Martin O'Neill explained: 'He is outside doing a bit. Had it gone ahead, the reserve game last night would have come too early for him because he has only just started back. But next week we would be hoping for that reserve game. And that's very, very encouraging.'

So watch out, Laursen might be playing for the reserves v Portsmouth next Wednesday.

Would certainly be a welcome return, his form leading up to the injury was nothing short of awesome!

He can't come back soon enough for me. With him and moore back and a few new faces we should regain a little form very quickly. He impressed me too, Mr Fear. If only he could stay fit for a bit longer this time..

I totally agree. Laursen is an excellent defender and by far our best. Could easily fit into any Premiership teams. I just hope and pray he can play in all of our remaining games, after Man U.

Hope he can put his injuries behind him now. There is arguably not a better defender in the Prem from what ive seen.

Lets hope its a quick return and no more injuries. Look at our form since he has been out and it makes you see that we've been missing him.

If only he could retain regular fitness, we'd be able to play someone almost with McGrath's ability.

He scares any attacker with them eyes. Laursen and Mellberg sounds good to me.

absolute class, invaluable, must look into possibility of making football knee protectors out of bubble wrap

Now this is good, no, this is tremendous news. How can a fully fit Martin Laursen, displaying the sort of form he has to date only temporarily been able to show us, not be a huge plus to the club? Welcome back Martin.

It seems to be a reoccuring theme with Laursen, his injuries was one of the resons why he left AC Milan too so it has been going on for a while now. hopefully we have seen the last of it. Without doubt our best defender, smart, quick and great in the air, just what we need at the moment.

he makes a great comeback every 3 months...he is good when he comes back like he did, but soon enough o'neill will get sick of flying him to that american knee doctor every other week

If only we can keep him fit. What a quality central defender we'll have on our hands.
