O'Neill Confirms Loan Interest

Martin O'Neill has confirmed he is looking to complete the season long loan signing of Manchester United full-back Phil Bardsley over the next few days.

'I spoke to Sir Alex a few days ago and he wouldn't mind at all. But like anything else, until things are signed, I won't take it for granted. Hopefully he'll join us this week, though obviously he can't play against Manchester United next weekend. We just want to start building the squad up a wee bit to give the players a helping hand.'

My source at Manchester United said: 'The thing about Bardo is that he can also play centre back fairly competently, or even left back when required, so he's a very versatile lad. He had a good run in the first team at the start of last season and did absolutely nothing wrong at all, so he's highly thought of here.'

Following the background information he gave the other day:

'Bardo is a fans' favourite, people around here love him. He gives 100% and more besides, is extremely fit and doesn't mind getting forward. He's very much a young Gary Neville and already has a hardcore following here, not least because he's from Salford and is hard as nails. Funny, cheeky lad who'll give his all to make it at the very top.'

I know people are not in favour of loan players coming to VILLA but when you are fighting a fire who cares who passes you the bucket of water. Lets hold firm till the end of the season MON has more about him than loan players, its such a pity he took over management of the team so late, things could have been so much different.

its all well and good getting loan players, but a defender is not what we really need with our goal scoring problems.

Right back is a "must" for us. Left side of our defense is OK, but we have obvious problems on the right. Ideally, I can imagine Phil as season long loan + option to permanent move in next seasons.
Majkee
Right full back is without a doubt a major problem position for us, and a position it is vitally important to strengthen.

Exciting few weeks ahead of us chaps.
