Bardo A Man Utd Fans Favourite

Skysports have furthered the rumour that Manchester United right-back Phil Bardsley could be joining Villa on loan.

Bardsley was meant to be off to Sunderland but it looks like we've scuppered the deal with a couple of other clubs also interested.

Sky say United will loan him only whereas earlier reports said he'd come on a loan deal with a permanent deal thrashed out in the summer.

Bardsley's agent Des Wroe told skysports: 'Yes, Aston Villa have shown an interest in Phil. There are a few other clubs interested along with Villa and I am hopeful of sorting something out in the next two or three days.'

Adding 'Phil wants to get back to playing as soon as possible and he would like to stay in the Premiership. He believes playing in the Premiership would help catch the eye of Sir Alex Ferguson and put him in his plans for the future.'

Another James Milner? We get excited then the bugger goes back?! Hopefully not but it makes sense as we desperately need a right back, whether permanently or until the summer when more options might be open.

A source (well? everyone else says it!) close to Man Utd told me this afternoon: 'Bardo is a fans' favourite, people around here love him. He gives 100% and more besides, is extremely fit and doesn't mind getting forward. He's very much a young Gary Neville and already has a hardcore following here, not least because he's from Salford and is hard as nails. Funny, cheeky lad who'll give his all to make it at the very top.'

Sounds good to me!

The Fear
cant be any worse than Hughes

Not over-keen on loan deals, the James Milner episode only firming my resolve, but from what I hear about Bardsley, allied to the situation we are currently in, I welcome him with open arms. Hopefully during his supposedly brief stay at B6, he will come to fall in love with the place, and decide that his future lies here. Thats as long as he proves his worth of course. Hope we're not let down now and someone else steps in to screw up the deal.

At least he is currently fit, he is fit .......... please say hes match fit and raring to go in a Claret and Blue shirt.... just six more to go.

A good acquisition who would undoubtedly settle at Villa if we could possible achieve Euro competitions next year. That's probably unlikely now but in any event he would be a solid bet until the end of this season when a few more quality defenders might be available. Unfortunatel Hughes doesn't cut it for me - a bit too slow and inconsistent distribution - but an honest pro with a good attitude (unlike Baros!)

i really cant get excited about loan signings. Its a strange one where by if he plays brilliant we all love him, but know deep down Man U will be having him back at the end of the season.

yes please, excited about a loan???? possibly not, excited about his ability playing in our side and giving us a leg up the table, hell yeah. even if he does have to go home when his mom calls him in for dinner.

I hope he is secured till the end of the season and not subject to recall at a moments notice, maybe like Milner last season, fit in but fail to make the move permanant.

Much needed, as Hughes has become too inconsistent and unreliable. Right back is currently a weak link in Villa's armour. There are others though, up front for example!
The Usual Suspect
Rumours that Newcastle are keen too. We will have to act fast.
