More Woes For Villa Right-Back

Wales international right-back Mark Delaney is set to visit the same American knee specialist that Martin Laursen used last year to help try to resolve the injury that has ruined yet another season for the luckless defender.

Delaney, who is out of contract at the end of the season, will visit Dr Richard Steadman in Colorado.

Villa boss Martin O'Neill said: 'Mark is very frustrated. He wants to go and see Dr Steadman which we are hoping to arrange to see what Mark's situation is. He is not comfortable with the knee but it is far too early to start make long lasting assessments. It's a shame. Mark has not kicked a ball this season but that is through no fault of his own. He has made every attempt to try and get fit but as the seasons are going past he has been playing less and less.'

Adding, 'He has a great attitude and he wants to get fit. If he says there is a problem, I take his word for it. I just hope he gets some good news from seeing Dr Steadman. Mark is out of contract in the summer but I think just getting fit would be more in Mark's mind than worrying too much about contracts.'

Perhaps he can go to Florida on his way back and go to Disney World. Steadman appeared to do wonders with Laursen, you never know but considering his contract goes...I think thats it for him and Villa.

Have to agree murph. DOL wasn't going to give him a contract for the same reason. Think that's about it for him.

You mean, D`OL got something right? BLIMEY!

I often wondered why the NHS was on its knees... but he needs to get fit, not much chance of a new contract after the last 5 years.

think that was luck rather than judgement. It has been quite quiet on the D,OL front not even a token apperance on sky sports or even prem plus. This leads me to one conclusion he is writing a ground breaking book on the behind the scenes at Villa Park and his success at establishing villa as a top 16 side.

Ho dear me.

This Doctor Richard Steadman certainly comes across as a miracle worker, having virtually saved the careers of numerous sporting types, but he's certainly going to have his work cut out, and put his reputation on the line, in taking on Mark Delaney. Good luck to him, thats both Steadman and Delaney.

Dont think we'll see him in a Villa shirt again, although I hope I'm wrong coz I think he's class when fit.

If Delaney had started his career on a pay as you play deal he would have had to take a second job on!
mackaavfc
he has, works behind the bar at the villa cross

A fully fit Mark Delaney would have been a tremendous bonus over the past few seasons.
