'If It's Football, It's Vital'

All In A Bit Of A Huth?

David O'Leary has been forced to rule out another attempt to prize central defender Robert Huth away from Chelsea on loan because it would mean he would have to return either James Milner or Eirik Bakke because Premiership rules only allow two loans from Premiership teams.

O'Leary, according to numerous reports, was hoping to put in a bid to bring the German international to Villa Park permanently but old Scroogey Ellis (!!!) has said there is no money available, well no money for players, plenty for board members to have a bonus this year! Ok, ok, I'll stop ranting.

Huth is keen to find regular first team football in order to push for a place in the German squad for the World Cup next summer, but a swoop by Villa seems unlikely unless either Ellis has a change of mind and starts running us like a Premiership club (DOH, back to ranting) OR the takeover situation is sorted out. Neither of those options appear likely at the moment.

O'Leary said: 'I'm desperate for a central defender. The chairman's told me there's no money for transfers and so we've been looking at doing a loan deal. There's been a couple of options, but now we've stopped looking. If we ended Bakke's loan and he went to Leeds or Milner went to Newcastle, how would that help us?'

White flags all round at Villa Park then? And the only people who are really suffering are the paying punters.
