O'Neill Promise To Villa Fans

O'Neill Promise To Villa Fans

With a run of eight games without a win for Villa, Martin O'Neill has promised the Villa faithful: 'We'll get back to winning ways for you.'

'We're not getting the rub of the green at the moment. Famous last words, but I think it will turn. We've got to keep believing what we were doing is the right thing. The crowd were fantastic again - the travelling support has been fantastic all season.'

Adding 'We're ending up chasing games that we probably should be OK in but during the course of a season if we can get a win and kickstart it again we can go on from there. Eventually confidence will start to erode, but we just need to win a game. The games are difficult, but that's the exciting thing about the Premiership. We're showing a good deal of spirit and determination, but liker anything else, when you concede poor goals, it's debilitating.'

'What we want to do is turn it around and go back to what we were doing earlier in the season, turn it around and grab a victory. We came away with nothing and that's a couple of times now where we've done well, like against Bolton. We played our part in the game and got nothing to show for it, but we're hoping that will change very soon because we need it to.'

'There's no point in crying about the situation we find ourselves in - we knew at the start that the squad wasn't really strong enough to cope with the demands of the Premiership because it was so small. We don't have many more options, and it would have been nice to have rested one or two players during the course of the year. But we haven't been able to do so and those players are going in the team - not only that, but they're going in not really fit when they would normally be able to take some time out because of the nature of it. That's the situation we're going to have to address.'

Roll on the January sales - lets just hope other clubs are charitable and sell the players Martin O'Neill wants!

As I've said elsewhere in another post, I dont believe we are playing any worse now that we were in the early months of the season, the Manchester City debacle apart, of course. We are not getting the little breaks that we were getting back in August, September, October, while injuries and suspensions have admittedly taken a toll on our limited squad (quality wise). Hopefully that failing will be part way corrected during the January window. Yes MON will turn things around, of that I have no doubt, but we may face a few more reversals before things start looking up. Even Saturday's trip down to The Valley doesn't look the three pointer it did just a few short weeks ago.

Whats the point of making vow's Martin???....all the 'fans' will ever do is complain!

If it makes the man feel better to state his intentions then so be it, I for one have no doubt he will do that anyway, blind faith?? I think not, trust in a proven man manager, trust in a manager who has a proven track record of turning clubs around, trust in a man who shows his passion for the game. One of the biggest co**ups in british football was MON not getting the England job, Englands loss is Villas gain. just a few days left untill Xmas (JAN)

We believe you Martin. Have the players got the same belief. They have to be low on confidence.
