Dear Mr Lerner, for Xmas we'd like!

Dear Mr Lerner, for Christmas please could we have........!

The paper talk has started in earnest, well it started in October, but you get my drift.

Today we are linked with Spurs striker Jermain Defoe AGAIN. This time the People (ahem) say a 12million bid will be made in January. Strange because Spurs clearly stated last week that there was no price on the England strikers head because he is not for sale. We'll just have to see I guess!

In the News of the World we are linked to Charlton striker Darren Bent. YES, YES, and YES. He would be a fantastic signing, it would push his England chances and he'd fit exactly into our set up!

Also in the News of the World is a link to West Bromwich Albion winger Zoltan Gera who before injuries last season was a major hit at the Baggies, especially in the 2004/5 Premiership season. He is a nifty winger/attacking midfielder who also plays as a second striker, he has an excellent crossing ability and was linked to several big moves last year, he is also captain of the Hungarian national team. This season he has 3 goals in 16 appearances.

Not bad links those, Defoe and Bent would be nice, but as said, I can't see Spurs going back on their word and selling their striker. Funny we've not had a Robbie Keane link for at least a week, the papers really are getting slow.

Rumours around Villa Park yesterday were saying we were going to get David Nugent from Preston North End. Not so sure of this one, he has just 6 goals in 22 games for PNE, not exactly prolific, although I believe last season he was, but 6 in 22 and then to make the jump up to the Premiership? Hmmm.

Our latest poll asks who you'd like to see at Villa.

Coup of the decade, Villa sign Klose. Having watched him in the WC and knowing he is been touted to Barca, the Milan twins I dont expect him to come here, but I can dream. Zzzzzzzzz

Richardson from man utd, bardsley, curtis davies, wane routledge, reckon they are all obtainable and young. think defoe is unlikely as he is scoring for spurs but would be a bonus if we could.Bent seems to be unhappy at charlton or at least his form shows something aint right.MON would be the perfect man to get the most out of him.interestingly all mentioned are english(well not sure about Bardsley yes/no)and have asperations of playing for the national team. Please Daddy Christmas make my wish come true!

As far as the Baggies are concerned, their MOTM is nearly always Jason Koumas. Suprised he is still slumming it in the little leagues.

We need right back, Hughes was crappy against Manure, we lost three points because of him. Another need is a creative player, playmaker, real first class playmaker. We have only two or three top players - Gavin, Gareth and Olof. Yes, we have hot young prospects, but without top players, they are not going to improve to their right potential. My preferences for Christ(mass shopping): Anthony van den Borre, Vincent Kompany, Tomas Rosicky or Mark Bresciano or someone like them, Jermain Defoe and Mirko Vucinic or Andrea Caracciolo (both big, fast and strong target men)

yeah, agree Majkee, with Delaney being crocked so much poor sod, we need a right back. In fact we need new in many areas if we are serious, and I think we are!

There'll possibly be a surprise or two arrive, but I cant see the likes of Defoe moving here. We do need to strengthen, of that there's no doubt, but as to who we are genuinely capable of attracting, well thats another matter. Our profile is still not that high yet.

It's the xmas day for Villa fans, waiting to see who MON is going to unwrap in January, our boys have done fantastic and deserve to be applauded for their hard work and determination, OK we were taken to pieces in the second half, but it was manure the league leaders and a team worth god knows how much more than ours, we will be back this is just the start of a new era.
