Boro Striker Villa Bound?

Boro striker Villa bound? Probably not!

Rumours are linking Middlesbrough and former Leeds United striker Mark Viduka to a £2million move to Villa.

The Australian international can leave on a free next summer when his contract runs out so Middlesbrough might look to generate a fee by selling him in January and according to some reports Martin O'Neill see's Viduka as a good option to bolster our squad. Not sure how reports can know this as Martin O'Neill plays everything very close to his chest, so there must be some mind readers in employment at the moment?

Viduka told Sky Sports: 'I don't know to be honest about my own future. There's been no approach from the club towards me for any sort of renegotiation. So it's all up in the air at the moment.'

Right, from those quotes I can certainly see why Viduka is being linked, so obvious now! :o)

So what do you reckon? Not exactly a name to set the pulse racing is it? Short term help but..............?

NO! Well past his sell by date

Why is it whenever we are linked with someone crap who I dont want, I always get the feeling the link has more substance than when we are linked to someone good?
DeanoVilla
Because you are a Villa fan Deano, and like the rest of us have become cynical down the years!!
jonah
Can't we get the other pudgy Boro striker, Yakubu, instead? He'd be worth all the added expenses in pork chops. But honestly, the only former Leeds man that interests me is Alan Smith, and I just heard today that Fergie says he's a no-go.

hmmm maybe we should look at someone younger then Mark Viduka
Christo
Too much baggage being a strop bag in my opinion. However, he does still show his moments of class. Not someone who you feel is going to be fit all the time though, so I would say no.
Tierney
like the rumours leading up to the transfer window but would rather links to SWP and Darren Bent etc than a striker like Viduka. He'd have been good a few seasons ago but we need younger now.
The Fear
No, it would be six or seven years too late. Not impressed, but then again, it is just another no substance rumour.

Please god, NO....

Certainly prefer Mark Viduka to Chris Sutton. Will Baros be on his way?
sandgroanun
no way had enough crappy strikers

Hey come one give him a break, he is a good player when he wants to be and im not just sayin that cos im aussie...if youre givin him the arse becos of his world cup performance you shouldnt, he always played better at club level than for his country. You cant say that Baros is playing better then him at the mo'
AussieVilla
AussieVilla...this Viduka gay is more fickle than our supporters....should've gone to a massive club when they came in for him years ago but he bottled it....he's overweight and over here. No thanks. Past it. Always injured. YAKUBU please.
koolbill
must admit totally against idea of sutton coming in yet has been sometjing of a master stroke by martin, could viduka be another? Between the two of them they do carry a massive repair bill but could rotate them to get the most out of them and its highly unlikely we can get the quality of player we want for the long term in the January sales. If the two of them carried us through the remainder of the season within reach of Europe then its fine by me.

Viduka would surely only be viewed as a stop gap at best. Lets look elsewhere.
