Bakke - Now Is Not The Time

Eirik Bakke has said he will talk about his future in January but has confirmed he would be keen to stay.

Bakke wants to concentrate on cementing a first team place and 'getting Villa back to winning ways.' His loan deal runs out at the end of January.

He told www.avfc.co.uk following the dire performance against Manchester United: 'It wasn't a great day for us. They are a quality side and they played well. We didn't play as well as we have been doing. But we can't let that result undo the good things we've done in the last few weeks. That was our first Premiership defeat in five. These games against the top, top teams are bonus games. If you get a result that's great. We didn't, so we have to move onto the next game and make sure we get a result.'

Adding: 'I'm just glad to be playing games. We have a lot of competition in midfield, so I was happy to stay in the team for the Manchester United game. Now we have a very busy spell with a lot of games over the next couple of weeks. This is when you use your squad, so hopefully I will be involved over Christmas. We've said we'll talk about my future in January, so between now and then I want to play as much as possible. That's all I've wanted since coming here. I'm feeling better and fitter with every game and I want to play in the important games coming up. That's all I'm concentrating on for now. Now is not the time to discuss my future.'

Leeds manager Kevin Blackwell said: 'Nothing has been decided at the moment about Bakke. All the parties involved will take view of the situation in January.
